Jacquelynne Steves

I’m looking for bloggers to feature!

It’s that time again! We will be starting a NEW FREE Block of the Month soon! Last time, we had a lot of fun seeing how everyone was making their blocks- in fact, a lot of you told me that was your favorite part of the BOM. We will once again have “featured bloggers” who will be showing you how they are making their blocks.

This Block of the Month will once again have options for just piecing, applique, and/or hand embroidery. It will run 6 months, from June through November 2016. Months 1-4 (June-September) will each include ONE block pattern, October we will work on 5 simple setting blocks (all the same), and then the final month of November will include borders and finishing.

In April, I will officially launch the BOM, but here is a little snippet of what to expect:

2016BOMPreview-JacquelynneSteves

Are you interested in being one of my featured bloggers? To be eligible, you MUST HAVE an active blog. (If you don’t have an active blog, I will consider your Facebook page IF you have at least 4,000 followers with a good engagement rate.)

Here’s how it will work:

You would get the patterns for all of the blocks about 8 weeks before the BOM is launched, and you can make the blocks with any fabrics you like. It will be fun to see the blocks done in lots of different ways! (Like modern fabrics? Primitive darks? Great!!) As one of my bloggers, you agree to post the photos of your finished block(s) on a designated day each month. I will also provide prizes for your readers, so you can do giveaways on your blog. The BOM will also act as a blog hop, as I will share your blog with all of my readers when I post my own block- so readers can hop to see other bloggers’ blocks and get inspired! As part of the monthly blog hops, you also agree to post a list of the other bloggers so people can “hop” around to the other blogs as well.  You can also post your blocks on your other social media (highly encouraged!)

Does this sound fun to you? If so, please email me comments@jacquelynnesteves.com with the following information:

  • *Your blog address
  • *Addresses for any other social media you use (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.) as well as any other groups you belong to (such as Facebook groups, etc.) (Please note- you don’t have to be a social media guru to be chosen- I’d just like to get a sense of your follower demographic- I’m trying to get a good variety amongst the bloggers.)
  • *If chosen, would you be most interested in making the blocks which are pieced only, or include hand embroidery, or include applique (machine or hand is fine.)
  • *A few sentences telling me about yourself- why you want to be part of the BOM/blog hop, how long you’ve been sewing, your favorite techniques, your kids, your dog, whatever will tell me a little bit about YOU. Doesn’t have to be an autobiography! Just help me get to know you a little.
  • *Please send me your email by March 18, 2016.

If you don’t have a blog, but have a friend who does, please send them over!  I will choose 1 or 2 blogs and notify those folks around the end of March.

I can’t wait to visit all of your blogs and see what everyone has been up to!

Hi Margaret. Now sure which one you are referring to as the current one… I don’t have any going on myself right now, but I’ve mentioned the Splendid Sampler- maybe that’s the one you are thinking of?

It is Hometown Girl by Pat Sloan for Moda, and that will be the fabric we are using for the kit.

Your BOM events are great. I’m excited to sign up, and the advance notice gives me the incentive to “catch up” on the other BOM projects already somewhat in progress! Thank you for sharing.

When will the kit be available for the new BOM? The fabrics are adorable. I always like Pat Sloan’s fabric.
