I know that the other day I posted a bunch of Christmas Ornament ideas- but it IS still fall- so here are a few ideas for some quick fall quilts! I love playing with quilt designs and seeing what they will look like done in lots of different fabric and color combinations, so this was really fun for me! I took a few of my Free Quilt Patterns, and played with fall fabrics- I think you’ll like them as much as I do… You could get the first two done in an afternoon, the third may take you a couple of afternoons. Sounds like a nice, cozy, weekend project to me! You could also make about 4 blocks and make any of these into a table runner.
First, here is the “Grammy’s Rose Garden” quilt pattern. I have had so many people tell me that this has become their “go-to” pattern when they need a quick project or gift! Here is the original:
But look how different it looks in a fall palette- I love this. Maybe I’ll rename this “Grammy’s Pumpkin Patch”:
To make this, simply substitute orange fabrics for the pink, and choose “olive-y” greens. For the centers of the blocks, try using some assorted cream prints/tone-on-tone fabrics. Choose an orange print border, and brown border and binding. Ta-da!! Get the pattern here.
Here is another favorite, when done in spring greens, I called it “Shamrock Shake”:
Done in orange, green and brown, it becomes “Autumn Awe”:
Here is a quilt called “Coming Home,” which I originally designed with Christmas fabrics:
It easily becomes “Homecoming” with some “modern” fabrics:
I love quilting- isn’t it fun playing with fabric??
as you say worked in different colours they can look so different, wondering is there going to be another BOM so enjoyed cozy afternoon and Maggie`s first dance.
The Grammy’s Pumpkin Patch idea is awesome. I can see embroidered leaves, pumpkins, etc on the solid squares or fussy cut fabrics.
Not sure why I’m not getting your newsletters anymore, but would like to be added back on your list. Thanks!
I am so enjoying the snowman blocks….just Adorable! Going much faster than BOM 🤗
Thank you. I would appreciate that. I real like your embroidery patterns also your quilt patterns thank you again .
