Strawberry Lemonade Cake Recipe

There is something about Summer that makes me feel like a kid, no matter how old I get.  Something about long days and getting outside in the sun, feeling like the days and the season will stretch on forever. The freedom of not wearing shoes and eschewing utensils to eat food like corn on the cob and hamburgers…Yes summer is definitely my season!

You’ve probably noticed a strawberry theme going on lately. In last weeks blog, I gave you a Free pattern for my sweet Strawberry Lemonade Table Runner.  Since the month of June is strawberry season here in Southern New Jersey, I thought I would share my recipe for Strawberry Lemonade Cake. This recipe is a favorite in my house during strawberry season! (more…)

Strawberry Lemonade Table Runner Free Pattern

Here is a sweet little project for you! While designing this project, I decided that pink and yellow is my new favorite color combination! Isn’t it perfect for summer or spring? I remember as a kid, that the unofficial kick-off of the summer season was going to a local “pick-your-own” field to harvest baskets & baskets of strawberries. Then we would come home and eat strawberries til they were coming out of our ears, and Mom and Grandmom would make strawberry jam. Those fond summer memories are brought back with this fun, refreshing project.

Free Coloring Sheet- Happy Little Things Quilt

We now have fabric kits available in 2 different colorways for the Happy Little Things Free Block of the Month. Just click here. (If you want one, HURRY– they are selling fast and there won’t be any more, the fabric is no longer available!)

But now it’s your turn to be the designer!

I love playing with colors, and seeing how different colors will make the same quilt pattern look so different. You can even use the same exact colors, but put them in different places, for completely different looks!

Here is something fun for you to do while you are “patiently” waiting for the Happy Little Things BOM to start- it’s a coloring sheet for the Happy Little Things quilt. You can print out as many as you want, get out your colored pencils or markers, and play with all kinds of color combinations! Have fun with it! Your kids and grandkids will probably have fun being a “designer” as well. Try out all kinds of color palettes to see what you like best.

In a couple of weeks, I’ll be showing you some more ideas for colors and fabrics, and sending out the fabric requirements, but this will get you “dreaming” about colors for now!

Click here for your PDF coloring sheet!

Pinwheel Pin Cushion & Mini Pillow Tutorial

Hi Friends!! Isn’t this pin wheel pin cushion adorable! I made the pin cushion (4″ square), and had so much fun that I decided to make a larger one to use for a mini (9″) pillow! They were really, really quick to make, too, because I used precut fabrics. Just use mini charm packs for the pin cushion, or a regular charm pack for the little pillow.

There is a fun folding technique to make the double pinwheel design- but don’t worry, it’s pretty easy, and if your points in the center don’t match up exactly, it’s no big deal because we’re going to put a button on it anyway!! (more…)

Free Tutorial- Summer Seashells Towel

One of my favorite super-quick projects to make is embellished dishtowels- When I see colorful, undecorated dishtowels or handtowels in the store, I buy them and stash them away for the easiest projects ever. Then when I need a gift, or I just want to freshen up the kitchen or bathrooms, I add some embroidery, applique and trim and Voila!! Today in my free tutorial, I’ll show you how to make a cute and cheerful Summer Seashells Towel. Mother’s Day will be here soon, as well as the end of the school year and summer parties, and you can whip these up quickly for the moms, teachers, and hostesses that you’d like to show a little love & appreciation to.

If you are looking for tea towels to embroider or applique, be sure to check out what I have available in my SHOP.
