The Art of Home Club is Open!!!

This is one of my favorite times of my “work” year! Today, we are opening up The Art of Home Club to new members! Yippee! It’s always so much fun to meet new people who have the same “quilt-y” interests as you, don’t you think?

YOU CAN JOIN THE CLUB FROM October 10 through October 15!!

AFTER THE 15TH, ENROLLMENT WILL BE CLOSED AGAIN UNTIL SOME TIME IN Early 2020.

Why did I start The Art of Home Club? Because of YOU! You all inspired me with all of your super-creative blocks for our annual Free Block of the Month, and I thought, wouldn’t it be fun to make projects all year that are as unique as their maker? Wouldn’t it be amazing to provide folks with easily adaptable patterns and lots of ideas for different ways to use them? And wouldn’t it be wonderful to share our projects and ideas with some friends, new and old??

I know that you are going to LOVE our Club!!! Click here to find out more and to join us!!!

We have 2 special bonuses for those who join TODAY, OCTOBER 10 ONLY!!! Read on…

Free Quilted Owl Wall Hanging Pattern

I love this little fall project- you can easily make it in an afternoon! Doing machine applique around the owl silhouettes is very simple because it’s all one piece- but since this is a wall hanging that probably won’t be washed, you could use a heavier weight fusible web (such as HeatNBond Ultrahold by Thermoweb) and skip the machine applique all together. Also, if you don’t have burlap or linen fabric, you could substitute any fabric for the bottom of the wall hanging.

You can click here for a printable PDF of the instructions and the owl pattern.

Approximate finished size: 17 x 20”. All seam allowances are 1/4”. Sew fabrics right sides together.

Apple Cranberry Clafouti Recipe from The Artist’s Inn, Lancaster PA

About a month ago, my husband and I decided that we needed to get away- It was a very stressful, busy month, and we just needed to decompress for a couple of days! We headed for one of our favorite destinations, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. We enjoy driving through the peaceful country side, stopping at little shops, and staying in quaint country inns. We try to stay at a different place each time we go.

This time, we stayed at The Artist’s Inn, in Terre Hill.  We enjoyed sitting on our deck and looking over the beautiful gardens and countryside.

The innkeepers are Jan and Bruce. Bruce is a really clever, witty artist- his artwork is displayed in the main parlor, and it really made me chuckle!  He is also the author of several books. You can see more of his work here. (more…)

It’s definitely a season of “comfort”- comfortable clothes, comfort food, and of course, cozy comfortable quilts! If you love Fall, you’re going to love these projects that we have gathered for you.
