Recently, my pal Christa Watson sent me an advance copy of the new book that she has just written with Angela Walters, called The Ultimate Guide to Machine Quilting- Long-Arm and Sit-Down–Learn When, Where, Why, and How to Finish Your Quilts. And let me tell you- this really is the ULTIMATE guide! I was honestly blown away about how much content and information is crammed into this book!

Christa and Angela give you tons of tips for machine quilting on both a long-arm and a domestic machine. Christa gives pointers like how to “color code” your quilts to divide them into smaller sections and make them easier to work with. Also, I was happy to find out that when piecing, Christa presses all of her seams OPEN- I knew we were friends for a reason!! LOL! Angela will share how to use a ruler and tips for choosing thread color, and will give you her short “go-to” list of quilting designs that she uses time and time again. But these are just a few of the helpful pointers included in this 147 page book. I will say it again- this really is the ULTIMATE guide if you are interested in machine quilting- consider it your Quilting “Bible”- you will refer to it again and again!

There are 10 different quilt patterns included in the book, so once you’ve made the quilt tops, Christa and Angela will also walk you through ideas for exactly how to quilt each one. Consider each one a different “lesson”- this book has enough projects to keep you busy for a very long time as you hone your skills.

The book has also been color coded- Christa’s tips and designs appear on the peach colored pages, and Angela’s appear on the aqua pages.

Many of the quilt patterns are modern- so even if aren’t interested in machine quilting, you may want to pick this book up just for the cool quilt patterns! And it may inspire you to give machine quilting a try!

I will wrap this up by saying that I have not been compensated (other than receiving an advance copy of the book) to give this review. It is my honest review and opinion.

You can find the book here on the Martingale site and on Amazon.
