Catching Up Sew Along Day is HERE!!!

SewAlongDayIsHere Jacquelynne Steves

Hello!! Here we are!! It’s Catching Up Sew Along Day and I’m so glad you are here!! This is a fun opportunity to get caught up on your Sew Sweet Simplicity Free Block of the Month, and I’m so excited to see how your blocks are coming along!

As I post updates, I will add to the TOP of this post- so if you are just joining us, scroll down to the bottom where it says “Introduction.” Remember, I’ll be posting every hour, so remember to refresh your page!

PLEASE NOTE– due to the amount of activity going on during this Sew Along Day, I will not be able to answer your individual questions regarding the technical aspects of the pattern (i.e.- can’t find pattern, didn’t receive pattern, can’t print, etc.) If you are having a technical question, please email me here rather than commenting on this post, and I will answer it asap after the Sew Along. THANKS!!

(Time Zone Converter Here)

Wrapping Up!

And the winner of our final giveaway for today was Karen via Facebook.  Congratulations!

This concludes our Sew Along! I hope you had a lot of fun and got a lot of sewing accomplished. Of course, you can feel free to continue sewing and posting about your progress!

Thanks for Sewing Along with me! Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Now, I think I’m going to go take a nap!!!

—————————————————————————————————

Hour 4 (3- 4 pm, EST New York City time)

The winner of the book was Debbie via blog comment. Congratulations!

Wow! Can you believe it! We’re almost done. The prize for today’s final giveaway is a collection of Aurifil thread (oooh! I was so tempted to keep these for myself!)

SewAlongDayPrize-AurifilThread_JacquelynneSteves

To enter the giveaway, answer this question in the comments below:

What’s been your favorite part of this Sew Along?

(Please comment by 45 minutes after the hour- I will be drawing the winner at 55 minutes after the hour.)

So here is my finished block. I mixed up some of the HST’s when I was sewing them together, and when I realized it, I just didn’t have time to pick them apart and do them again. So, I rearranged the units a bit and ended up with this:

Sew Along Day Jacquelynne Steves4

So now instead of calling it my “Bonus Block” I’m calling it my “Surprise Block.” Sometimes accidents are quite fine!

——————————————————————————————

Hour 3 (2- 3 pm, EST New York City time)

The winner of the pattern bundle was:   ByGrace3 via Instagram.  Congratulations!

The prize for this hour’s giveaway is the book A Flair for Fabric (Martingale).

SewAlongDayPrize-Book_JacquelynneSteves

To enter the giveaway, answer this question in the comments below:

Where are you and what’s the weather like where you are today?

We’ve been sewing for a couple of hours- I think it’s time to stretch! Yes- I think some dancing is in order! This is me on my dance break listening to one of my favorite songs- what can I say- it just makes me very “Happy” whenever I hear it!! (yeah I know- I totally look like a Dufus in this video…)

To have your own dance break, listen to the song here

——————————————————————————————————

Hour 2 (1- 2 pm, EST New York City time)

The winner of the fabric bundle was: Gail via Facebook. Congratulations!

The prize for this hour’s giveaway is bundle of quilt patterns.

SewAlongDayPrize-Patterns_JacquelynneSteves

To enter the giveaway, answer this question in the comments below:

What did you have for breakfast today?

The blocks in this BOM have a lot of HSTs (half-square triangles) and flying geese units.

Sew Along Day Jacquelynne Steves 2

Here is a little tip for getting nice points when you are piecing your blocks. Whenever you can, put the unit with the “pointy” seam on top so you can see that seam. This will allow you to “nudge” your straight seam (see brown thread in photo) just a bit to the left or right as needed so you can get it perfect.

Sew Along Day Jacquelynne Steves 3————————————————————————————————————————–

Hour 1 (noon- 1 pm, EST New York City time)

Ok, here we go!

The giveaway for this hour is a bundle of fabric provided by Henry Glass Fabrics.

SewAlongDayPrize-FabricBundle_JacquelynneSteves

For your first chance to enter the giveaway, answer this question in the comments below:

What are you working on today?

Today I will be working on the embroidered version of my Bonus Block 1. I got it embroidered a long time ago, and got the pieces cut out, but just never got around to putting it together.

Sew Along Day Jacquelynne Steves 1

Let’s go sew!!

Introduction

You can participate here on my blog, and also on Instagram and Facebook. Before we get started, I will explain how this will work.

There will be giveaways every hour. I will post updates here at the top of each hour.

Comments (here on the blog, on Instagram, and on Facebook) will receive 1 entry, photos (on Instagram and Facebook) will receive 2 entries, and videos (on Instagram and Facebook) will each receive 5 entries!! Your entries are cumulative, meaning that once your entry is put into the drawing, it will remain there for all of the hourly giveaways (unless I draw your name for a prize, then it will not go back into the drawing.) All prizes will be awarded by random drawing. Open to US and international participants. You can enter each hour.

You can participate on one, two, or all three of the platforms (for example, you can comment here on the blog, as well as post your photos on Facebook for another entry.)

If you are going to participate here on my blog, all you have to do is follow along and comment when prompted. This is important- remember to refresh the page frequently so you get the latest updates! (To refresh the page, just click that little circle-arrow-thingy in the address bar of your browser.) AND- be sure you are not a no-reply blogger. If I draw your name, but your email is not immediately available either in your profile or your comment, I will draw another name.

To participate on Instagram, follow along on my profile and comment on my posts when prompted.  Also, we’d love to see photos of your progress, so post photos and/or videos of what you’re doing to your own profile, and don’t forget to include the hashtag #CatchingUpSewAlong to any of your photos so I can find them. Mentioning me @JacquelynneSteves will also help us to find your photos. Remember, photos will receive 2 entries in the giveaway and videos get 5 entries!! Refresh the feed frequently so you don’t miss any updates.

To participate on Facebook, follow along on my page and comment on my posts when prompted. You can also post your photos and/or videos directly to my page (once again, photos will get 2 giveaway entries, and videos get 5). Refresh the page frequently to be sure you don’t miss any updates.

I’m dying to see what you’re working on!

I’m loving the BOM! My first quilt is hand embroidered, but next one will take advantage of my new embroidery machine….always learning. I’m new to quilting, but freshly retired so eager to get started.

I’m waiting on fabric to come in the mail so I’m just working on a little ditty I came across that wouldn’t take up too much time and I could go back at a later when my fabric comes in.

    Hope to have fun today.

Can I post a picture to this blog, or does that need to be done on Facebook?

Hi! I just cut out my bonus block appliqués, and I just wanted to let you know that they are upside down. Where it says cut three red, pink, and green you need to have the printing facing the right side of the fabric, not facing up at you.
