We are also having another GIVEAWAY this month, so read through this post to the bottom…

OK! So remember, there are 3 options for these blocks- piecing only, applique, or embroidery. I have made a sample for each method! Each one is very different, but I don’t think I could choose a favorite. First, my appliqued block:

Cozy Afternoon Free Block of the Month-Block3- Jacquelynne Steves

You will notice that I added just a little bit of embroidery to my appliqued block- the flower needed a stem and the tea label needed a string! If you don’t want to do embroidery, you could just leave that out.

Here is my embroidered block, done in grays and blues:

Block 3 Cozy Afternoon Free BOM- Jacquelynne Steves

And here is my pieced-only block. I used a really cool, modern floral for the center square:

If you feel like getting really ambitious this month, you could make a bunch of these blocks, and make a quilt like this:

Cozy Afternoon BOM- Block 3 quilt Cozy Afternoon BOM- Block 3 quilt_

Both of the above quilts were made just with Block #3! And actually, you don’t have to be all that ambitious, because the blocks go together very quickly.

Have you been checking out my Facebook Page and our group Pinterest page to see the blocks that people have been making? You can also post on Instagram, please use the hashtag #CozyAfternoonQuilt and mention me @jacquelynnesteves.  I really love seeing how different and beautiful everyone’s blocks are! Guess I’m confused. Orange block is 4″, light blue 3 3/8″ cut diagonally into 4 triangles. Triangles aren’t big enough to reach the from one corner to the other corner of the Orange square. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Never mind. Answered my own question. I cut them twice instead of once. DUH!!!! Thanks.

I have downloaded all the BOM patterns I am looking for the perfect fabrics to get started. I am new at quilting and I am having lots of problems getting my fabrics cut perfectly. I have lots of different rulers and a rotary cutter but the don’t seem to want to come out right. Do you have any suggestions? Any help at all would be great. Thank you and God Bless.

Hi Tammy! Yes, cutting can be a little tricky and takes some practice. Everyone has their favorite gadgets and tools! Some have tried suction cup grippers for their rulers with success. I personally have a cutting mat system which I really love- it has really helped me get more accurate with my cutting. I wrote a blog post about it here. http://jacquelynnesteves.com/sewing-quilting/my-favorite-quilting-gadget/
      Hope this helps!

have finished Block 3 and starting block 4 today. This is such a lovely BOM and really motivated by all the photos of the finished blocks by other stitchers. Is there a “button” that I can put on my blog for others to see? If so, I would love to put on my blog.
