Cozy Afternoon Project Contest!!!

This is sooooooo exciting! I hope you will all join in- Today I am announcing the “official” rules for our Cozy Afternoon Project Contest!! I have loved seeing all of your projects, and I thought it only fair to offer a prize- and to give you a little more incentive to finish up your projects and send me your photos! You have about a month and a half to get your projects done, and you don’t have to use all of the blocks- so you have plenty of time… In fact, you have time to send in an entry even if you haven’t worked on a single block yet! You could tell your friends to sign up as well, and have a little sewing party. Click here if you haven’t signed up yet– you will get ALL of the block patterns, border instructions, and more. Yep- FREE.

So here are the official rules:

–Send your photo(s) via email, comments@jacquelynnesteves.com  Subject line: BOM contest

–Entries must be received by 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time on November 30, 2015. Late entries will not be considered.

–Use at least 1 block from the Cozy Afternoon Free Block of the Month. You can incorporate your block(s) into any project you want. Be creative! You can add your own applique or embroidery designs, embellishments, etc. (If you use someone else’s applique or embroidery design, or a die cut, machine embroidery design, etc., your entry is still allowed, but please give credit to original source.)

–Quilt tops do not need to be quilted, but should be completed up to the quilting step (ie. borders included- we need to see what the completed quilt will look like). However, smaller projects such as pillows, tote bags, etc. should be completed.

–Send 1-3 good photos of your project. You can show us closeups of your work, and show us your project from different angles if appropriate.

–Entries will be judged by me and my 2 daughters. All decisions are final. Entries will be judged based on the following:

  • *Creativity in design and fabric choices
  • *Basic overall design and aesthetics
  • *Quality of construction and workmanship

–Optional- tell us a little about your inspiration, fabrics you used, etc.

–I retain the right to post your photos on social media and/or my blog/web site for promotional purposes, using your first name only for reference/credit (no profile or personal information or links will be shared publicly). You retain the rights to your photos.

–Open to US and international entries.

–Winners will be announced on or around January 5, 2016.

Please be sure to read through the rules carefully and follow them- I wouldn’t want to have to disqualify someone on a technicality!

And now, of course, the important stuff- the prizes….

Third prize will be a digital pattern bundle, retail value $25.

Second prize will be a bunch of goodies- fabric, patterns, notions, etc. Retail value $35.

First prize- a fabric kit for our 2016 Block of the Month, featuring Hometown Girl fabrics by Pat Sloan for Moda Fabrics. Retail value $90. I just looooooove this and I’m so excited! I think you are going to love this one! It will once again feature options for applique, embroidery, or just piecing.

REMEMBER- if you don’t have your FREE patterns yet, please click here.

OK everyone- start your engines (your sewing machine engines, that is!) Good luck!

My butterflies quilt is basted and in the quilting queue. Hope to get the second cozy afternoon top, “On the Go” pieced in the next week or two – need to make the setting triangles, which I am going to piece. A very fun project, looking forward to your 2016 designs,

love your newsletters ~ always filled with fun stuff and good eats !
I am working on my second Cozy Afternoon set of quilt blocks.
But I don’t have Instagram; I do have twitter, pinterest and facebook, but I don’t know how to get pictures of my blocks to you.. you are always posting everyone’s blocks and they all look so pretty, but I don’t know how to post my blocks other than taking a picture of them.. Am I doing something wrong ?
Anyway working on my second Cozy Afternoon quilt blocks and they are turning out to be so fun !
And I with you, I love making cookies.. Cookies are a very Swedish tradition where the moms and grandmothers of the family would get up while it was still dark outside in order to get started on their cookie baking early in the morning.. dozens of wonderful cookies.. Swedish Spritz and frosted sugar cookies, Gingerbreads and Swedish names I can’t pronounce. Thanks for sharing your cookie recipes :)

I enjoy your free patterns. Thank you for them. I really am computer illiterate and really don’t know about sharing pictures. How ever many patterns are done and mixed with other patterns I manage to get from the internet. They are used to make lap quilts for people in wheelchairs and those in the hospitals for the elderly. Thank you again for your free patterns
