Oh. My. Goodness. Here we are! Can you believe we are at the finish line for Cozy Afternoon?? While the BOM lasts only 5 or 6 months for you all, for me it lasts for about a year, including all of the design time and stuff that I need to do to get it ready!! Yes, it was just about this time last year that I was putting together the final design and ordering fabric for the kits…
Whether you’ve been with us from the very beginning, or if you just joined in today, I hope you have been enjoying it!! For me, it is such a thrill to see people making and loving a pattern that I have designed… Getting your emails and seeing your posts on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter is soooooooo much fun!
As usual, we are having a great GIVEAWAY this month! Please read through this post to the bottom to find out how to enter.
Today, I sent out the border and finishing instuctions. Before we go any further, a few things (Please read through this list- even if you’ve been with us from the beginning!!):

OK- Now the fun part! I made 3 versions of this quilt. I made a version by just piecing it (no applique or embroidery.) I used a striking hydrangea print in the center of the blocks, as well as in the setting squares and borders. I really like the modern look of this quilt. The fabrics aren’t fabrics that I would normally choose, but I’m so glad that I stepped out of my comfort zone a little bit and did something different. And this shows how effective this quilt pattern is, even without the tea cup applique or embroidery. Novelty fabrics also work really well for the block centers.
Here are some reader blocks which show how great these blocks look with novelty fabrics in the center:
I also did machine applique for one of my quilts- this is the quilt sample for the fabric kits which were available earlier (sorry, the kits have been sold out for months now….) These are such cheerful happy colors, don’t you think??
(And thanks once again to my friend Daniela, aka “Danny,” for her marvelous long-arm quilting skills!)
And finally, I also did an embroidered version. The teacup theme is really “cozy,” isn’t it?
The blocks are set “on point”- which is a little more complicated than sewing the rows together horizontally and then vertically. But, the instructions have a lot of diagrams, so please just pay attention as you are working, and take your time! I think the results are well worth the effort :)
As I mentioned at the top, it takes me almost a year to put the block of the month program together and bring it to completion… so yes, right now I am working on the 2016 Block of the Month- it’s all designed and I’ve been making test blocks and doing some applique… here is a sneak peek in case you missed it earlier:
Our prize for the final month of our Block of the Month, patterns for Hugs & Kisses quilt, and a Wool Flower Pin pattern (by the way- the Wool Flower Pin has always been one of my best sellers. For some reason, people just love it. In fact- I started out doing Quilt Shows, selling handmade Wool Flower Pins, before I ever published my first quilt pattern… So this pattern holds a special place in my heart.)
