We “ran away” to the beach for the long Memorial Day weekend. I feel like I’ve been totally out of touch, because the bad thing about the beach is that there is no internet. Then again, that’s also a GOOD thing, too. Our phones get pretty lousy service there, too, so we have no choice but to “unplug.”
On the way there, we stopped for a quick dinner and saw 2 geese couples and at least 30 goslings waddling through the very busy parking lot! Someone told me that geese can lay up to 15 eggs… wow! I’ve never seen so many feathery little babies all at once! They were so cute.
We pulled up to the house to find that our rose bush was in full bloom…
There were long relaxing walks during the day…
And beautiful sunsets at night…
The weather was beautiful and we had the windows open the whole time. The smell of the salty air mixed with the heady aroma of the honeysuckle blossoms was almost overwhelmingly wonderful… While I was there, I managed to get some sketching and painting done- I always take my supplies with me! Daughter also took her supplies and sketched for hours…
Hubby, meanwhile, worked on painting and putting up tile in the bathroom… unfortunately, these things never seem to go as smoothly as you hope that they will… it’s not finished but it’s going to be beautiful! I can’t wait to show you the photos when it’s done. We have been redecorating the beach house gradually- about one room per year. So I figure that by the time we get it all done… it will be time to start all over again! In some upcoming posts, I’m going to be sharing photos of the rooms that we’ve done so far, plus some money saving decorating ideas I’ve used to re-do the beach house on a shoestring budget- stay tuned!
To get you in a beach-y mood, here is a free embroidery pattern. Enjoy!
How fun, your pictures are beautiful!
Thanks, Missy. It’s such a beautiful place- it’s easy to take good photos there :)
Looks like you had a very relaxing time, love the pictures
How wonderful that you were able to get away to the beach – and to have such nice weather as well! A good place to get away from it all (and with no internet you really were away!!).
Yes, I get quite antsy for the first few days and wonder if I’m missing anything… but then I get used to it and it’s quite relaxing to truly get away.
Thank you!
Love the sunset photo! Looks like a great place to have a relaxing weekend!
Yes it’s a great place. Not much to do- which is good!
What a wonderful relaxing place. Isn’t it funny that when you are away from the phones and the internet how relaxed your life becomes. Things get done and deadlines reach in a less stressed and complicated manner (especially if your by the sea).
I love the cheerfulness of the patterns and colors and the simplicity!! I would love to see more of your goodies!!!
Your post of the beach embroidery came exactly at the right time. I needed something to do a project for my Guilds Show & Tell in July, and thought I would have to begin hunting for some kind of ideas. I was thinking of a bucket and shovel, and you supplied it. Happenstance or what? Thank you Thank you Jacquelynne
Beautiful picture
Thank you. Thinking of making pillows for friends.
Oh my how beautiful! We were going to the OBX every summer until this year popped up. Your photos remind me of there and good times. So happy for you.
Looks like a wonderful weekend..
Where is your beach home..
It’s always one more thing to do
