I Love Home BOM Block 3 is here!

I Love Home Free Block of the Month, with options for applique, embroidery, and piecing only | JacquelynneSteves.com

Can you believe we’re already on Block #3?! Time for another free house quilt block! PLEASE NOTE- I realize that there is A LOT OF INFORMATION IN THIS POST! PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THROUGH IT ALL- Answers to most of your questions will be found in this post. Thanks!!

The third block for the I Love Home Free Block of the Month was sent out a short time ago. If you are signed up, please check your email for your pattern. (Please note- sometimes it can several hours for the email to reach your inbox. If you don’t have it yet, please be patient and check back a little later.)

If you can’t find your email, please check your spam folder, and Gmail users please check your “Promotions” folder. If you still can’t find it, please email me comments@JacquelynneSteves.com  We do our best to answer as soon as possible. PLEASE do not comment here to tell us that you can’t find your email- you comment will be deleted! Please email for assistance. Thank you!!

VERY IMPORTANT- If you email us a question and don’t hear back in 24-48 hours, please check your spam folder! We answer all emails, so if you don’t hear back from us, it’s very possible that our response is in your spam folder!!

For technical questions, like how to download/save a PDF, etc. please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.

If you are NOT signed up yet, please fill in the box in the upper right side bar of THIS PAGE to get your FREE block patterns! NOTE- THE PATTERNS ARE NOT ON MY WEBSITE OR BLOG- YOU MUST SIGN UP TO RECEIVE THEM BY EMAIL.

Just ONE MORE THING- Please download and save the files to your computer immediately, so that you can find them when you need them. Don’t rely on trying to find the email with the links later- As many have found, emails tend to get lost, even when you put them in a special folder :)  As this event grows larger with more and more participants, it gets more difficult for me to reply to emails requesting that I re-send the patterns. THANKS SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!

OK- time for the fun!

The third block features a different little house. I made 2 versions of this. First, the machine appliqued version using our fabric kit:

And here is my embroidered version:

(And don’t forget about making a “wonky house” center for your block!)

NOW- this is pretty important! This block (and also our next block, block #4) will feature a Half Rectangle Triangle unit (HRT.) You’ve all made HST’s for the corners of your blocks, but we are switching things up a little with this unit. You can find a tutorial and video HERE. I HIGHLY recommend that you make a couple of practice units until you get the hang of making HRT’s- they aren’t really difficult once you get the hang of them, but they are probably quite different from the kinds of units that you are used to making.

We LOVE seeing your blocks! Our Sew Quilty Friends Facebook group has been super active this year- I think we’ve got at least 100 different block photos there (and counting!!!) Stop by one or two of the places below and see the incredible blocks everyone has been making!

The buttons are so cute! This might be my favorite block yet. I plan on doing two – one with the quilt along with Alyssa and one with lots of applique. Thank you for a great project! Hope to have fun learning these new blocks that go around the house! Happy Wednesday.

Love the buttons. As a child, my favorite thing at Grandma’s was her button box. I have one that has been well used by my grandchildren.
