Hi there, Friends! I feel like I’ve been so out of touch with you all here on my blog. It has been CRAZY. Like, C-R-A-Z-Y! Not just in the studio, getting ready for our free BOM which starts soon, but lots & lots of personal stuff too. Like, moving youngest daughter into her grad school apartment 4 hours away, and some very serious health issues with our parents which we are dealing with, plus some other assorted stuff, has made for a very stressful last couple of months. I’m doing my best to do the stuff that I HAVE to do, and trying not to feel too guilty about the other stuff which has fallen to the wayside (like my blog!) Hopefully, things will calm down soon, and get back to normal (whatever “normal” is, ha ha. I’ve come to the conclusion that there really is no such thing as normal- you just need to take each day as it comes, and be grateful for it all, good and bad.)
Anyway…. today I will be on the American Patchwork & Quilting podcast! I will be chatting with my friend Pat Sloan about … UFO’s! Because, hey- we ALL have them! And some of us have a better “attitude” about them than others!! I hope you will listen in- if you can’t make it live, then you can catch the recording at any time! (Click here to hear the interview.)
In the studio, I’ve been working on lots of stuff but I’ve just been too busy to post about it :( Like these cute little projects for The Art of Home Club:
We started our Bitty Blooms FREE Embroidery pattern series- these patterns are only available over in the Sew Quilty Friends Facebook group and for members of The Art of Home Club. Each pattern is just 4″ big and we will release one pattern per month (on the 1st) for 12 months. People are posting their photos in the Facebook group- they’re just great!!
Of course, there’s been TONS of stuff going on “behind the scenes” for our upcoming I Love Home Block of the Month– like bundling and shipping lots of fabric kits! (If you haven’t signed up for the free BOM yet, just click here.)
As I mentioned, we moved our youngest daughter into her new apartment over the weekend. She managed to get a really great apartment, and because it had been vacant for awhile they gave her a great deal on it. We’ve had a lot of fun over the last month hitting IKEA, Target, Home Goods, Walmart, and some thrift shops for all of her first “real” apartment needs and wants! (I love a good excuse for shopping, don’t you??)
Here are some photos of her new apartment. She has a bunch of art to hang over the sofa, which will make it a little “cozier.” But I think this is a good start! She got the beautiful yellow chair and sleek gray sofa at IKEA. The coffee table and side tables were made by my father-in-law about 25 years ago! He made them for my husband and I, and now my daughter is using them:
For her room, she did a watercolor painting to match the duvet that she also got at IKEA:
We took a break from our hard work of moving and setting up apartment with a yummy lunch at the local Farmer’s Market:
Last Christmas, someone gave us gift certificates for a painting class, so a few weeks ago we made these. Daughter hung hers in the bedroom of her new apartment:
So, yes, things have been busy!
You tire me out just knowing how busy you are. Or could it be because I did four loads of laundry today plus made potato salad and copper penny salad (carrots)for a girlfriends lunch tomorrow. We try to do it all, don’t we…..LOL
You should be proud, for you have raised and mothered a talented girl,Well done both of you, Om Betty
Love your cacti….and love dtrs flower/fern painting. That’s what I want to do if I live long enough to find time.
Besides quilting which don’t have enough time for either.
Very nice 1st apartment…much better than what I started out in. ? I haven’t started the itty bitty blooms yet, as I really don’t embroider. It might be good to take with me when I fly to WA state next month to visit family. ? I can’t wAit to get started on the BOM project. However we will be traveling most of August and September. Hopefully I won’t get too far behind. ?
Your daughter is very talented. Bet she gets that from her mom. I thought I had a crazy, busy life but yours is way more than mine. Looking forward to the new BOM. I did the Maggie’s First Dance and loved it.
Good luck to you daughter in her first “real” apartment it looks cosy and your paintings look great. I do not know how you do all the great things you do and still have time to give to us quilting and embroidery ladies your free patterns which are just lovely and great to do.
I have Bitty Blooms #1 & #4 free patterns, but somhow missed #2 & #3.
Can you please advise how I can get those two. Thank you
I also have the first 3 BOM “I Love Home” – hope to work on them in near future.
