So, here’s the thing. I am working on LOTS of stuff. LOTS. But… they are projects for 2016, so I can’t show them yet! It makes it hard to do an “in the studio” blog post… So here are some sneak peeks of what I’ve been doing in my studio lately.
You’ll notice that these are all sewing projects- some machine (piecing, applique), and some hand (embroidery, stitching wool, English Paper Piecing (EPP) hexies)…. a little bit of everything! …..except…. painting…. I would love to get back to my paints soon! Oh it’s so hard to fit it all in…
Here is a beautiful project you will be seeing sometime this month or next, with some elegant metallic touches:
This is a “group” project I am part of- you will see this in June 2016. The theme is “blue.” I’ve enjoyed doing some embroidery using my new Aurifil embroidery thread- I love that it comes on a spool and doesn’t tangle into a giant knot like the skeins of embroidery thread tend to do:
Another “group” project I am working on, contributing to a “sampler” quilt (I know- more teacups! I just can’t seem to get away from them, lol):
Of course, I am continuing to work on the 2016 Block of the Month. Here you can see a peek of the machine applique, and the kit fabrics (Hometown Girl by Pat Sloan for Moda Fabrics):
DON’T FORGET- we still have the contest going on, and you can win the fabric kit above for the 2016 Block of the Month!! Get the details on how to enter here.)
And a little wool project which got put aside for a while, but now I really need to get it done!
…Work on my hexie project (just for fun!) continues whenever I have a free moment or two. There are piles of these large hexies all over the living room, waiting to be stitched together:
Finally- this project with RED hexies and redwork embroidery will be revealed very soon! (Hint- look for it on newstands soon…)
So…. what are YOU working on?
i’m working on gifts for holiday gift exchanges for my clubs and co workers. It’s good to feel ahead of schedule. I’ve got my list..and am checking it weekly :)
A list is a good way to stay on track! And yes, of course, you must “consult” the list regularly, lol!
Looks like you are busy too with some beautiful projects going. Looking forward to the upcoming year. thanks :)
I’ve got a few irons in the fire, A civil war pieced bulk of the month, embroidery with Gail pans book, embroidered and ruffled tea towels, table toppers. I am pooped!
I certainly know what it’s like to have a lot of irons in the fire- but I think that keeps you from getting bored :)
I am working on lots of family Christmas stockings, gifts and my blog. I have enlisted the help of a much younger brain to help me but it is in the making hopefully before Christmas, I will send you a link (when I have worked out how to do that lol.) You have some beautiful projects going on and look forward to seeing your lovely work in the new year :)
Oh Pam- thank goodness for “younger brains” to help us!! Definitely send a link- I’d love to see what you are up to!
I’m currently trying to finish up Pat Sloan’s Vacation Time BOM and also have a baby quilt to finish before next month. Then I need to get going on the Christmas projects. Keeping busy!:)
That’s good- keeping busy will keep you out of trouble, LOL!!
working on redwork project just still unsure who for or maybe just a wallhanging,
Loved seeing all the sneak peeks!
I am working on red hexies and the red work birdie. Found the pattern in the new Quilt N More.
Everything looks wonderful!
I just read your newsletter – so exciting you are going to be part of one of my favorite things every year! I look forward to all the blue blocks, but especially seeing this one with the adorable flower on it.
With 10 great grandchildren, I am working on pillowcases for them. Just finished 4 in Minions fabric. Big boys will get surfboard and skate board fabric. Love all the interesting kid fabrics on the market. Also working on a quilt for a son’s 60th birthday (which is Christmas Eve), in patriotic theme since he is retired Navy. It just might be late…
Love your blog! It definitely inspires me.
How do you keep up with the calendar? I am always falling behind with my projects.
