Summer is just a-flyin’ by, isn’t it? (For our friends in the southern hemisphere, I’m sure you are happy to be approaching winter’s end…) Next week, we will be spending some time at the beach with the kids before they go back to college (older daughter is in grad school, younger daughter will be a senior undergrad this year.) Here is a little bit of what’s been going on in the studio….
I’m working on a fall project, which you will see very soon here on my blog (end of August…)
I’m trying to do more art… so hard to find time… here are a couple things I’ve done over the past month or so. I’ve posted them over on my Instagram account:
And I LOVE hearing from you guys on Facebook! Julie H. posted this to my page: “I so enjoy your blog posts that are delivered to my email inbox! I am currently working on your Flip Floppin’ quilt to use in a raffle. Any money raised is going to a missionary friend of ours who has a school for children living in the slums of Kampala, Uganda. None of the children have shoes so any and all funds raised will go directly to buying simple shoes for those kids. What better pattern than Flip Floppin’? Love it!” Isn’t that a FABULOUS idea??? Here is the information about the Flip Flop block.
Alfie continues to “help” in the studio. Here, he has decided to sit on the table behind the sofa- I guess he thinks he’s a cat!
When I give him a bone to chew on, he likes to hide it, and then retrieve it and hide it again, in several different places. Here he is in a big basket of ribbon I have in my sewing room. He really likes to hide it in there, and then root around to find it again:
You know how you go shopping for “just one thing” and you end up with a cart full? That’s what happened when I went shopping for ribbon online- I just needed one thing, but the more I bought, the more I “saved” on shipping… so I ended up with a huge box of cute dotted ribbon and tiny miniature pom pom fringe in about 7 different colors…
This is another project that I’ve been trying to “fit” in- I think I need to just spend a few days and finish it!
Are you following along with the Aurifil Designer of the Month block series? Every month, a different designer shares a free pattern for a 12″ block, with the theme of Blue and White. My month was back in June, you can click here to read my interview and get my TWO block patterns (I did a “bonus” pattern). This month’s designer is Wendy Sheppard and this is her block (and you can also get her BONUS applique pattern)- click here.
Have fun at the beach with your girls!!! We are currently in Carolina visiting with our kids and grands – and our niece is getting married today (the main reason for our visit here). It’s so nice to see them all and see them doing well. I’m sad to see Summer fading away – Fall will be here before we know it!!!
Enjoy your time at the beach. I spend one afternoon at the beach a few weeks ago it was wonderful. I have not been to the beach in the summer in several years.
Have a great time at the beach enjoy.
Enjoy the beach, I’m flying to CA to visit my daughter and I am planing on spending many a day at different beaches on the west coast.
Love the oak leaf design. I’m ALWAYS looking for things with oak leaves on them. :-) Yes, my last name really is Oaks!
I love Alfie!!! – and your art and quilting is beautiful too!
A very enjoyable read.
Enjoy your beach time with your girls and fur baby. And I hope you enjoy Cream Valley Dairy’s custard stand. Yummy, drippy ice cream on a warm summer night, I miss it!
Your art work is gorgeous love the little boat. Your Algiers is so cute how strange that he hides his bone. With 2 West Highland White Terriers in the house they never did hide a bone.
We live by the beach it is my favorite time early before sunup to take a walk. Every day sun up is different. It is so peaceful and relaxing. Enjoy the beach and happy belated Birthday.
I mean Alphie. I use a Dutch keyboard and often it changes my words. So sorry!!!!!
