If I need to concentrate while cutting fabric, I like a quiet sewing room. When I don’t have to think, I love to listen to music or quilting shows. I listen to hours and hours of Gaither music with a little Neil Diamond or Billy Joel now and then. When I need soft calm music, I listen to Don Williams.

When I sew, I often listen to quilting podcasts or watch quilters on YouTube. I find that even though I am concentrating on what I am doing, every so often I hear something that makes me stop and listen.

I usually have the TV going – sometimes sewing videos or tutorials, other times binge watching TV shows… lately I’ve also gone back to having an audiobook going if what I’m doing doesn’t take a lot of concentration. My husband works from home in the next room and he has a lot of meetings that he’s speaking loudly, so I need to have something else to listen to!
I almost always have the Halmark Channel on. If not watching a movie then watching Little House on the Prairie or The Walton’s. Mainly background noise. Keeps me company. Prizes look amazing and loving the free BOM.

I like quiet please. I love to sew when it rains or snows as all is calm in the room.
I listen to audio books from my local library — usually mysteries. This keeps my mind busy during some of the more repetitive parts of sewing. When I am standing at my longarm, the story is a timing device, keeping my tiring knees and hips going, until the end of the disk.

I usually like it quiet when I sew. No distractions means I enjoy the entire process. Not just the mechanics of sewing, but the sound of the machine, the feel of the cloth under my fingers, the beautiful colors & prints, and the emergence of the finished piece. All of it gives me not just pleasure, but a feeling of piece & tranquility. Not to mention a beautiful, finished product to use or gift to someone.

When I am sewing I prefer to “watch” previously viewed movies. Since I have already seen them they really serve as background noise but if I like I can look up and watch a bit without feeling the plot has been lost

Sometimes I listen to a classic rock radio station. If it’s close to December, I listen to Christmas music. Other times I watch TV usually cooking shows or local news.
It depends completely on my mood. Often it is music (pops, broadway, musicals), sometimes it is tv, sometimes just quiet.

When I am cutting and organizing, I need it quiet. But when I sew TV or music helps me not get tense – too much!
I usually put the TV on something I’ve seen a million times before so it’s not quiet but I don’t have to pay attention, either!
I mostly listen to classic rock on Sirrius Radio when sewing, but if hubby is home, the tv might be on. Love the block of the month challenges, I use stash fabric as I really need to get rid of some fabric.
I do listen to music on my laptop from Iheart Raido, Alexa or NPR. It gives variety to choose depending on my mode or time of year.

Most of the time I listen to audiobooks while stitching as long as I don’t have to concentrate to much on stitching. Sometimes as a pick me up, I’ll listen to the oldies or other upbeat music. If I really have to concentrate, I like it quiet.

Although I have been sewing most of my life, my quilting journey started during the pandemic with your Silver Linings Sew Along. I learned so much. And now I have many projects waiting to be created.
I usually have my Hallmark Movies and Mysteries going as I sew. No radio stations, and silence is not for me.

I listen to Spotify while sewing on my machine. I have everything from 60s to current day artists and a little country thrown in. If I am snipping a rag quilt or sewing on a binding I revisit old favorite movies like The Breakfast Club.

When I’m sewing, I like to listen to a good fiction podcast and having a good cup of coffee. Sometimes my husky will come and visit for a while..
I often listen to music in a wide spectrum of favorites: classical, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s classic hits, older country, show tunes,some jazz, etc. I also sometimes listen to quilting and crafting of all types in tutorials or podcasts. I occasionally watch/listen to TV shows or old movies on TCM too. I always studied with music on so I guess when I’m sewing or crafting it just relaxes me.

I like both quiet and background noise depending on my mood and project. No internet or cable etc. Where I live so use dad’s. Sci-fi, Hallmark, documentaries, TV series. Starting Northern Exposure next as it’s hot here and I am hoping for some cold weather comedy.

When I am in the sewing room/space, I listen to a radio station music. Music normally calms me and helps to relieve stress. I haven’t found quilting stress free or fun. Audio books, podcasts, news programs, movies, HGTV, none of those have helped.
I mostly prefer quiet when I sew, but occasionally put on music. When I do, it varies depending on my mood. I find tv too distracting for seeing.

About 50% of the time I listen to TV in the quilt room when working on a project…the other 50% is music.

Yes, I luv listening to music when I’m sewing and/or crafting. It helps me clear my mind of other things I could be doing :)
While sewing I listen to tv usually dateline or 48 hours. Since they are mostly reruns that I have seen so I can listen and see. Sometimes I watch Hallmark movies.
I usually listen to You Tube sometimes music while I sew.
I like to listen to Country Music and sometimes have the TV on in the other room while I am sewing.
I listen to podcasts, but no when I’m starting a new project.
I have quiet when I need to concentrate. When I do listen to music, it’s 70s music and the Platters.
I mostly listen to YouTube videos. Usually I choose Junk Journaling videos.
Sometimes I turn on the TV and stream reruns of NCIS. Other days I just sew in silence.
I do all 3–I listen to Country Music on CD’s or YouTube,,and I listen to quilting subjects on YouTube also since my TV is right next to my sewing machine and other days i listen to the sound of the sewing machine and hear all the ideas swimming in my head of projects..
I definitely watch TV movies and shows. With so many streaming channels, everyday can be an adventure while sewing! I also do a lot of thinking!

Both quiet and music depending on the complexi y of the pattern and how much I need to focus and concentrate. My musical preference lean toward the 50s and 60s as those were my teen years. Also Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash, Barbara Streisand, Kris Kristofferson. I also enjoy pieces from musicals.
I usually throw on a youtube playlist of videos and music. I like quilting to True Crime podcasts too.

I usually listen to music or nothing. But I also FaceTime and chat with my mom when I sew. We work on the same project and sew together. We are doing this BOM together.
I have to sew with noise – preferably to my personal Playlist that is all about the best of the ’80s. I also talk to my daughter’s cats and my son’s dog while I sew. Sewing is my therapy for sure … relaxing and helps keep me sane in this crazy world we live in today. Love this BOM and can’t wait until it is finished so I can hang it up in my sewing studio.

I usually prefer quiet. Sometimes I can hear my son snoring, because he works nights, sleeps days and his bed is just below my sewing room! If I listen to music, it is generally because my husband feels like I need to.

I listen to music, all kinds of oldies, Country and Rock. I even listen to the tv, whatever my husband has on, but usually NCIS. Except for the music, the tv is usually background noise. I watch ION while I sew: NCIS, Criminal Minds, FBI, Chicago Fire, Blue Bloods, Chicago PD, Hawaii 5O and Law and Order SVU. I have sewn with quietness and I seem to get more done than when the TV is on.
I like to listen to country music, unless I can be sewing on the coast, and then it would be to ocean breezes..
I listen to “easy listening” music on the radio. Station choice, & my kitty & I enjoy most all of it. Kitty setting next to me in her bed & me at the Bernina….we’re loving sewing. If the Seattle Mariner’s are playing, I will have that on the TV!!!

I like sewing on my machine when all I hear is my machine and my seam ripper and scissors being used. I like listening to the Hallmark channel when doing hand sewing and embroidery. And I like to hear how happy the person is that I gave the gift to.

I don’t always have a designated area that I do my quilting in. If I am in the “craft room” which is a guest room then I listen to music as the radio is in there. I like country music and the oldies station.
I would like to watch tv (Britbox crime shows), but I get too distracted, so I listen to Pandora Big Band and 40s.
