Maggie’s First Dance Block of the Month- Block 5 is here!

I'mMakingMaggiesFirstDanceBOMButton450pixHey there! Thanks for joining us! Let’s get started!

The fifth block for Maggie’s First Dance Free Block of the Month was sent out a short time ago. If you are signed up, please check your email for your pattern. (Please note- sometimes it can several hours for the email to reach your inbox. If you don’t have it yet, please be patient and check back a little later.)

If you can’t find your email, please check your spam folder, and Gmail users please check your “Promotions” folder. If you still can’t find it, please email me comments@JacquelynneSteves.com  It may take us a little while to get back to you, but we will do our best to answer as soon as possible. PLEASE do not comment here to tell us that you can’t find your email – your comment will be deleted! Please email for assistance. Thank you!!

For technical questions, like how to download/save a PDF, etc. please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.

If you are NOT signed up yet, please fill in the box in the upper right side bar of THIS PAGE to get your FREE block patterns! NOTE – THE PATTERNS ARE NOT ON MY WEBSITE OR BLOG – YOU MUST SIGN UP TO RECEIVE THEM BY EMAIL.

Just ONE MORE THING- Please download and save the files to your computer immediately, so that you can find them when you need them. Don’t rely on trying to find the email with the links later- As many have found, emails tend to get lost, even when you put them in a special folder :)  As this event grows larger with more and more participants, it gets more difficult for me to reply to emails requesting that I re-send the patterns. THANKS SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!

Read through to the end of this post to find out how you can win a really great prize :)

And now, my block!

So, this month is a little different from previous months. For months 1 through 4, we made just one block, and had the option of adding applique or hand embroidery to the center.

This month, you will need to make 5 identical blocks– but don’t worry, they are super simple!

MaggiesFirstDanceBOM-JacquelynneStevesAs you can see, there is no embroidery or applique in the center. These are our “setting blocks”- the blocks which will go in between our “sampler” blocks (#1-4). However- some of you have told me that you are adding applique or embroidery to the center of the setting blocks as well! That is totally up to you! I left my setting blocks “blank” in the center, and then my long arm quilter used the space to get really creative, as you can see in the photo above.

Our guest blogger and sponsor Christa Watson also shows us how she quilted this block- she turned her block into a cute mug rug!

quilted_block

You may remember a while back, I showed you some ideas for quilts you make using only the setting blocks. (Please note- I do not have specific fabric requirements or instructions for these quilts, these images are just to give you some ideas.) Because this block design is so simple, you could make a “bonus” quilt or 2 with them! These blocks would make a wonderful scrap quilt!

I have enjoyed making this quilt so very much. I am just getting started in applique, so the first block was one of my first attempts. Love the FB site, too. Everyone so supportive. Quilters are the best!!!!!!!!!!!

Jacquelynne, thank you so much for Maggie. I enjoyed doing #1-4 and looking forward to doing #5. Planned on doing it this week but everything got pushed to the back burner. My mother (90) fell, terribly bruised but thankfully nothing broken. We’re supposed to go on family vacation next week too. Again, two steps forward…three back…such is life…lol…but thank you for your hard work and support. Looking forward to your ebook.

Love all the posts you write. I do have Maggie in a project box, all patterns printed out and most of my applique centers done. Soon I will make a choice about piecing colors from all of my batiks and get the blocks actually made! Too many great ideas, not enough time! @susansquiltstudio
