It’s day one of the Quiltmaker 100 Blocks, Volume 10 Blog Tour! There will be great blogs to see all week, as well as lots of opportunities to win prizes (because what’s a blog hop without prizes? Am I right, or am I right??) Read through this post to find out how YOU can win!
If you’ve been collecting the Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks issues, and if you are fairly decent at Math, you may have already figured out that this issue brings the total number of Block patterns published to 1000. That’s a lot of blocks and quilts and fabulous sewing projects!!
I have contributed blocks to several issues of this publication. My block in issue #10 is called “Grandma’s Favorite.” It features machine applique and HST’s (half-square triangle units). I think it’s pretty and cheerful, a little vintage, a little “cottage-y”, and just a tad modern.
With this block, you could make a quilt like this:
Or a wall hanging like this:
Or a table runner like this:
We had fun at Quilt Market, putting together a video to promote this special issue. My “critically acclaimed” and “highly anticipated” appearance in this video (BWAHAHAHAHA……) comes at the 1:32 mark (I had to do mine twice, because the first time, right in the middle, there was an announcement coming over the convention center speakers):
And now, as promised, your chance to win some prizes! I am giving away 3 copies of Quiltmaker 100 Blocks Volume 10. Here is how you can enter:
- *Comment on this blog post and tell me- what is your favorite quilt-block-making technique? Do you like to just piece? Paper piece? Add a little embroidery or applique??
- *Make sure I can contact you through email- if you post anonymously, or are a “no-reply blogger,” and I cannot easily contact you- I will have to choose another name.
- *This is open to US and international readers.
- *Post by 11:59 EST on Sunday, November 23, 2014.
Good luck!
I work with tiny bits of scraps – so it depends on the block whether I standard piece or paper piece – I do love both.
Can’t wait for next Sew Sweet Simplicity BOM! I’m making it from scraps. Most of my quilts are made from scraps. LOVE the basket block…so many ways to use it in the kitchen and/or dining room or in a picnic basket. People still go on picnics, don’t they? I love machine applique, using strips and scraps, and using my imagination. My moto: Patterns are only suggestions.
I love all the blocks you design. I wish I had lots more time to sew. Sadly I apparently cannot make all the quilts I want unless I live to be 2000 years old. Wonder what quilting will be like 2000 years from now… Thanks for the giveaway!
I like to piece and add embroidery but it really depends on the block & overall look I’m going for. Scraps are even more fun…for me.
I love your blocks and it has been fun sewing the Sweet Simplicity Quilt. Anxiously waiting for the next block! Thanks for a great giveaway! That’s a lot of blocks :)
I love to work with my stash and often add some applique or stitcheries. I love to handsew but enjoy also paperpiecing very much!
Loove your block, so many possibilities to use it.
it will be a while before this magazine arrives in the UK I have quite a few of them all inspiring.
Coming from the embroidery world to quilting I do like to hand stitch, have done quite a bit of crazy and now taking part on your sew sweetness and plan to embroider all the centre blocks
By far my favorite block making technique is strip piecing. Sometimes I combine strip piecing with applique.
The minute I discovered paper piecing, I was hooked! For life!
Piecing and strip piecing is what I do most, but I also like to applique and embroider.
I love to mix it up! Your blocks help to do that with your lovely applique!
Congrats on another beautiful design. Love how you show several ways it can be used.my favorite way to make a quilt is rotary cutting and then piecing by machine. Thanks for the chance !
I really like hand sewing,,,,patchwork and applique are my faves and I like to add a bit of embroidery for that personal touch. Love your block and thank you for the chance to win a copy of Quiltmaker :)
I do love piecing. It’s like putting a puzzle together! Your block is beautiful! Thanks for the giveaway. I love these 100 Blocks magazine.
I make primarily donation quilts so I don’t get to do as much applique as I would like. I like the scrappy look and find paper piecing to be one of the easier ways to do it.
Very pretty block. I especially liked the table runner .
I love hand appliqué and paper piecing, but I do it all. I seem to make a lot of scrap quilts. I love your little basket block. It is very simple in design which is what I like.
I like piecing blocks.
I love to juist piece but the flowers add so much to this basket. I’d have to do the “A” word. I am all signed up for the Sew Simplcity blocks. Thanks for a chance to win this issue.
I like to mix it up. No favorites but I have to be in the right frame of mind for paper piecing or I will make a mistake.
I really enjoy piecing, but I’ve tried all kinds of ways. I also add some embroidery at times to my quilts. Thanks for the fun.
I just enjoy piecing my little heart out. I knew you would have a beautiful block to share with all of us and of course it is just simply gorgeous. Thank you for being a part of this blog hop and sharing your creative ideas and designs with us. I am enjoying your Sew Simplicity BOM very much and will look forward to the completion. Hoping to win my own copy of this collector’s edition of Volume 10.

I love piecing best – sometimes I add embroidery and applique too!
My favorite is machine piecing and some hand-applique. I enjoy hand quilting with different colors of perle cotton.
At the moment I like applique but it does change, depending what mood I am in! I have mastered paper piecing so I may start doing more blocks using PP. Thanks for the giveaway.
Congrats on your block! I enjoy piecing, applique and some time paper piecing and embroidery on them.
I love to piece scrappy blocks. Mostly it depends on the day. :)
Thanks for a chance to win.
I love to machine piece. I also love to add embroidery or applique to my blocks. Thank you for the giveaway.
I enjoy piecing and some machine appliqué. I like your little wall hanging & the tablerunner.
I love to piece–I think it’s the former math teacher in me, trying to resurface.
My favorite is machine piecing and paper piecing.
With paper piecing I can get those fabulous points on stars.
I love to piece and do hand appliqué, but I’m not a fan of paper piecing! Your block is adorable!
I love adding embroidery/appliqué to my blocks and handquilting with big stitch! Lovely block!
I love the comfy look of the medallion quilt. Nice job!
Love to applique!!!
I only know piecing, haven’t try the other methods.
The method I like best varies from quilt to quilt. For me, it depends on what the quilt will be used for. I love to do finely detailed hand applique but I would never do that on a bed quilt. I do enjoy both hand and machine piecing. For a bed quilt I would go with paper piecing whenever possible. It’s the fastest and most precise method for me.
The technique I started with was simple piecing but then tried applique and paper piecing. I have made quilts using all techniques but like the speed with which I can finish a quilt with just piecing.
I enjoy piecing blocks and making them into quilts. Lately, I like making pieced blocks and adding wool applique or embroidery. So many ideas to think about!
I just like piecing. Not much time for anything else.
I love to piece–chain-piecing is so much fun!
I only know how to piece a block so far. On my bucket list is paper piecing, hand and machine applique and hand piecing. My piecing thus far has been on machine. I have so much to learn and oh so little time.
I enjoy piecing but have been trying some applique
I love to paper piece and I am trying to learn applique. I have fell in love with how applique sets off a quilt.
Anything that has me sitting at my sewing machine is my favorite.
My favorite technique is paper piecing. HOWEVER ~ I have declared 2015 as the year to perfect my applique techniques & give the various versions a try. I love your block ~ a perfect block to ease me into it!
Your block is adorable! I usually do straight piecing and a bit (tiny bit) of applique! Thanks for the chance to win :)

I am a piecer and paper piecer by nature but have been expanding into machine applique and once in a while hand applique. Your block is beautiful.
I love blocks that combine piecing with applique. Yours is very pretty. AND the free BOM– woohoo. Thanks.
I like to piece quilt blocks, especially when there are time saving techniques.
I applique and embroidery and piecing . . . ummmm, I like variety. LOL! I love how your sweet little flowers extend past the borders and over seams — I think that’s such fun!! :)
Lovely block! This is my first time visiting your blog. I use a lot of different techniques in my quilt making, but fusible applique with a teeny-tiny zig-zag stitch around the edge is one of my favorites. Have a super day!
Just discovered your website and have signed up for the BOM. I like to piece blocks, but hand applique or embroidery while watching TV. Drives me crazy just sitting watching TV and not doing something.
I do a lot of late night quilting, so tend to lean towards piecing that I can stack and feed – and come out with something nice at the end without too much fussiness.
I must admit that I love pretty much all the methods for making a block. The actual quilting is my hard spot. If only I could afford to have them all quilted for me!
I’m a piecer above all, but I do enjoy stitchery and some applique. Thanks for sharing your pretty block … and the chance to win !
I love it all! I don’t think I have one favorite technique.
I basically like to just piece, but that’s because I’m a beginner and still learning.
dawnm1993 at gmail dot com
I like piecing and applique. Cute block!
What a sweet basket! Love all your layout options, too. I like all types of quilting, and I think I have quilter’s A.D.D because I want to try everything, make everything, and I want to do it all right now…
I like piecing and look forward to trying applique some day!
I love paper piecing because my blocks always come out so well with this easy method. Thanks for the giveaway.
My favorite block making changes. I’m currently into piecing scrappy bow tie blocks with a cheddar background. But, if I had to choose, I’d probably pick foundation piecing – love how all the points are ‘perfect’.
I love your beautiful block. I love to paper piece but I may have to make your block with those cute flowers. Thank you so much for sharing.
Congratulations on having a block in the magazine, Jacquelynne! I prefer FPPing for its accuracy.
Really like scrap piecing. Lord knows I have plenty of scraps.
After so many years of block piecing, I really don’t have a favorite……I do a lot of very small miniature quilts that are paper pieced….so I guess that’s my fav right now. Next week it may be different….variety is the spice of life, especially when it comes to quilting!
ntzasqrl2(at)msn(dot)com
I like traditional piecing, though I do a little machine applique as well, which is perfect for your design. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy and get started! Thanks for the inspiration!
I like to create art quilts and sometimes many quilting techniques are used. I find most often machine applique is just what was needed in the project.
HI, I’m a regular piecer+love doing it!
Thanks for sharing!
I’m a traditional piecer for the most part, but I do enjoy paper piecing occasionally.
Sweet version of a classic block–love the flowers. I like paper piecing and hand piecing and applique.
Happy Baskets! Thank you for such a sweet quilt block to make :-)
My favorite way to quilt is definitely piecing! I love making the whole quilt but spending some time piecing my much loved fabric together just soothes my soul!
Thank you for joining in this wonderful tour!
I like to piece and then add a little appliqué. Thanks.
I like piecing and applique, and I love basket designs.
My favorite quilt blocks are the ones that combine applique and piecing! I love your new block!
I love the simplicity of this block that appears to be more complex.
I love to mix it up. I live regular piecing and paper piecing. I live to hand embroider and am having a love affair with my embroidery machine!
I enjoy designing my own patterns and then putting all the fabrics together. I love to play with the fabrics.
I just love to do normal piecing. For some reason, it’s relaxing for me.
Love just about any type if quilting but if I had to pick one it would be applique.
I have a nice big machine that I can sew on so.. no interest in hand sewing or piecing. I do enjoy applique a lot. I have enrolled for the BOM that you are giving and love it! My favorite way to quilt is Paper piecing.. then applique.. then blocks! Keep up the good work. I enjoy your newsletters.
I usually machine piece my blocks. Just so much sewing to get done in my mind the machine gets it done Faster.
I am a plain old pieced, and am happy that way, although I may try paper piecing to get those tiny, perfect points.
Most of my quilting is pieced and with your BOM I am doing needle turn applique and I have done machine applique in the past. I like all of them and can’t say I like one over the other. Since I have yet to try paper piecing I don’t know whether I like it or not. I love your quilt block and all the different ideas you have given us for using it.
I usually do fusible applique but need to try needle turn again.
Well I love applique, and normally do the fusible method. I love your block and the way it incorporates applique and piecing. I love the versatility of making a quilt, wall hanging or table runner. I also like to create children’s quilts with machine embroidery designs added in.
I love to do it all, but my favorite method would be piecing. Thanks!
Like all kinds of piecing — strip, paper piecing and squares.
I like piecing my blocks until I get on an applique kick, then back to piecing.
I like to piece & strip piece. Am getting better w/scrappy quilts. Also like to embroider. Your blocks are great.
I’m still a beginner so I’ve only done simple piecing so far but I’m excited to try other techniques.
I love all there is to love about quilting. I’ve just recently started to paper piece and have yet to master getting everything lined up perfectly…but I’m getting there. =) Practice with purpose I say….
I prefer piecing, though I also love foundation paper piecing. Haven’t done any applique yet. Thanks.
This is such a cute block you designed. I love the flowers you added to the basket. I love to PP first and then piece. I have not done applique yet. It is on my to-do list after all the sewing for our sons wedding is done.
My favorite is paper piecing by far!
My favorite method of quilt making is regular patchwork piecing.
I really like to piece blocks. I have tried applique and I am getting better at it. I want to try paper piecing sometime soon. I love the block there are soo many things you could do with it. Congrats on being chosen to be in the magazine.
I’m new to quilting and I’ve only tried piecing. Thanks for sharing, your designs are so attractive. I enjoyed visiting your site.
Like Deb, I’m new to quilting but I just know I’m going to love it and also that I’m going to get a lot of inspirational ideas from you Jacquelynne! I’m piecing a Christmas table runner at the moment but would really like to get stuck into a full-size quilt.
I like regular piecing and foundation piecing(which is great for intricate blocks).
I like to chain piece. Paper-piecing is very cool but requires too much concentration!
I love piecing, paper piecing looks crazy to me and I;m sure I’ll never get it.. thanks for the opportunity to win! Your basket block is so sweet!
I like all methods of quilting. Since I think I am ADD, variety is the spice of life. I have signed up for your Sweet Simplicity and love your newsletter.
I like most quilt making techniques that I have tried so far, although I am new to applique.
I love piecework, just plain and simple. Your block is beautiful!
I love a little bit of every technique, they all have their place. I really like your basket block, and I don’t normally care for baskets! Also the way you used the striped fabric for the border.
I like piecing, paper piecing, appliqué, embroider; it depends on my mood.
I like piecing, paper piecing, appliqué, embroider; it depends on my mood. I accidentally posted earlier without my name. Sorry bout that.
My very favorite is paper piecing.
I am big fan of piecing, especially with the precuts. With limited cutting space, these are my friends. However, I do love the block you submitted for the magazine. Very pretty.
I just tried paper piecing this past weekend. Once I got the hang of it, and saw the amazing results, I can’t wait to incorporate this technique in my quilts.
I love to paper piece and applique!
Always love
basket blocks.
Paper Piecing is my favorite method; but, I also do regular (traditional) method. Congrats on getting into the magazine!
My favorite type of block is one that combines piecing and applique! I had only been piecing but last year decided to try making a quilt that combined these 2 techniques and I love the look of it and the variety that it provides. Thanks for the cute block design.
Congratulations on your block being selected. It is sooo cute. I like to paper piece and applique.
Applique is my favorite although I haven’t done much of it. I love your basket, and am already playing with your Sew Sweet.
I love to applique and piece with my scraps. Enjoyed doing Block 1 of Sew Sweet Simplicity.
I like to piece but I may try out your block, it is really cute.
Piecing and applique are my favourites.
My favorite is piecing but I love to do foundation piecing. I have been getting bettre at applique so I like it better than I used to
I haven’t been quilting very long so a lot of the technics haven’t been tried yet. So far I’ve enjoyed machine/fusible applique and piecing.
My bed quilts are always pieced, but I make lots of table runners & wall quilts which are usually appliqued.
I am a piece quilter, but learning applique and loving it!! Would love to conquer paper piecing also. Love your “Grandma’s Favorite” block!! Will definitely try and make this one. Congrats and thanks “sew” much for sharing with us!!
Depending on my mood when I’m sewing as to whether I feel like piecing or doing applique`. I do some paper piecing and am getting to like that also. Your block is wonderful! Thanks for a chance to win.
I’ve always been a piecer, both machine and by hand. I just got started with paper piecing and applique may not be too far behind. Thanks for the giveaway!
I love piecing, all sorts. I also like the challenge of applique and will try my hand at hand piecing now and then just to change things up! Congrats on being included in the 100 blocks! Cute block!
Love your grandma’s favorite – very sweet. I’m a pretty basic piecer myself. But I love appliqué. Thanks for the nice giveaway.
I love every aspect of quilting except finding the right batting. Hexies, applique, piecing, wall quilts, big quilts, little quilts…and all the tools that go with them. Thx for sharing.
Beautiful designs with perfect balance of prints and color. #Quiltlove

I like to combine piecing and applique and your block is beautiful.
Most times I like hand applique but I do like sitting at my machine to sew too.
I like vintage/traditional quilts, and like all methods of making blocks.
I have tried all different ways of applique and like Backbasting best.
Your block this time reminds me of little girls with flowers in baskets going to Grandma’s house for the weekend. Thanks for your great talent in producing this treasure. I will surely make this up for Spring.
I mostly piece and have really gotten into scrappy quilts which I never thought I would like but I’ve succumbed to Bonnie Hunter’s magic.
Love the baskets!!!
My favorite piecing technique right now has to be HST’s. I am loving it! Congratulations!
I love your pretty block. I enjoy piecing and love to add a bit of embroidery.
I love your block, can’t wait to get my copy.
I like a challenge and to try something new, so I like all sorts of piecing styles. I have tried paper piecing and love it. My new love is English paper piecing since my knee surgery it has kept my mind and fingers busy.
I love to applique, since I can personalize the quilt according to the recipients favorite things or hobbies. My little great granddaughters really get a kick out of that idea. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
I mainly piece, but sometimes find that a block needs some embroidery or works better paper pieced.
I change my favorite way to piece all the time. I get bored or frustrated when I’m in the middle of a quilt, so the next one is my new favorite way. They all work, tho!
I like all methods but turn under applique..I rather fuse it….anyway I visit your studio(nice video) and noticed that you use an ELNA…well I had one for 10 years, then it broke and nobody was able to fix it with reasonable amount of money…even now that I have a new sewing machine still missed my ELNA,thank you for the giveaway….marta
I love your interpretation of a basket block. They are one of my favorites. Usually, piecing is my first choice although I am also fond of foundation paper piecing.
My favorite technique is piecing. I love the shortcuts that people come up with makes piecing so much easier. I’ve done a lot of paper piecing and it used to be my favorite. I did a whole Farmer’s Wife quilt using paper piecing. It was the way to go with this quilt. There are frustrations I have with certain pieces and it was the difference between loving it and just liking it.
I love your little basket block. It is really grandma-like. I either piece a quilt or do Hexies quilt. I do embroidery for the writing on my labels which are applique onto the quilt. So I guess I can say, I do it all lol. Thanks for the chance.
Darling block. Most of the work I do is by piecing. I have also done a lot of paper piecing and hand embroidery and some applique.
Love your basket block! I prefer to do traditional piecing, but I do like to embellish blocks with appliqué &/or embroidery too. It depends on the project & the amount of time I have to get it done.
I love to machine piece. Paper piecing is fun, too!
I love your block and I love the colors you used! I love applique but recently I have really starting to enjoy adding embroidery to my blocks!
My favourite blocks are pieced. I do like pieced quilts that have added applique.
I like regular old piecing!
I have used both traditional and strip piecing for my quilts.
I like piecing…am working on my first paper piecing (it’s good, too)…have tried some folding and coloring with chalk and colored pencils (that’s interesting)…am moving forward all the time! Love to learn new things, ideas and ways of accomplishing!
My favourite method of quilting is applique. I’m fairly new to paper-piecing but I love it. Congratulation on having your block in the magazine.
What a brautiful block! Congratulations for being in Vol. 10! I love all ways of quilting. I like having the variety, machine piecing, hand piecing, applique and embroidery. Too much of one and I get bored, hehe.
Thank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win.
usairdoll(at)gmail(dot)com
I like to regular piece my blocks. Thanks.
I love piecing blocks, but am very interested in applique as well. Your block is a total inspiration for that!
Yay! I love the Blockmaker magazines! Lots of inspiration, and yours is so cute. I prefer pieced blocks, but can be encouraged to add a little embroidery or applique at times.
I love paper piecing!
I like piecing, especially HSTs and applique the best. I have all the 100 Blocks issues but missed out on Vol 7 as I was in the midst of a move. Anyone have an extra they’d be willing to sell?
My go to method is Inklingo…love the accuracy! Your block is wonderful…thank you for the give away.
I love to do fusible applique and hand stitch using a blanket stitch. Your little basket with flowers is adorable!
The basket block is so cool….love the 4 baskets quilt……and they make great doll quilts in miniature too….
Piecing is my favorite, but I also love to do a quilt with piecing appliqué and embroidery. I hope to design a children’s quilt using all three methods.
Love your block.
I machine piece my blocks. No applique yet, but I would like to learn.
I piece my blocks and have tried paper piecing once.
love all methods of applique! thanx for the chance to win a 100 blocks mag!
That basket is so sweet with the flowers applique to go with it. Great ideas to use it too!
I like to piece my blocks and add a little embroidery or applique depending on the project.
I LOVE all types of quilting but I am REALLY in love with foundation piecing .
I love the “math” of piecing, but i’m learning the freedom of adding a little applique now.
I like trying different techniques in blocks. I usually just piece, but lately I’ve tried applique & like that a lot.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I usually enjoy regular piecing the most but always have an embroidery project to work on.
I like piecing, paper piecing and English paper piecing. Thanks
I love embroidery and appliqué. Grandma’s Favorite is lovely. Thank you for the chance to win.
I love to applique. I have also really enjoyed hand piecing my first quilt, and am almost ready to layer it together and try to hand quilt it. I am loving every step.
I love the combination of piecing with machine applique. Add a touch of embroidery and I’m happy.
I like to piece, but have been doing a little appliqué lately and have found it to be relaxing to sit and had appliqué.
Got to be applique! I feared the A word for years, now I always have something going – so portable!
I’m kinda new at all of it. Your blog makes me want to practice just getting better at applique. Thank you for that lovely quilt at Winthur a little further back.
I love to piece. It is like putting a puzzle together.
I like to piece block mostly with a bit of fusible applique occasionally.
I love to piece. Would like to try applique
Such a beautiful block. Thanks for chance to win!
Very sweet1 I love to applique and really don’t love piecing.
I have tried many but am a “piecer” at heart. Squares, rectangles, hexies and any other shape-machine or by hand.
Love your block and I like the idea of a table runner, using it and changing the color way to fit the seasons. I think my favorite is appliqué and stitched words or sayings on the quilt.
Debbie
I am not a very experienced quilter just yet, but I loved making the BOM #1 for the Sew Sweet Simplicity project! I am pretty proud of that one. I do just love your block with the posies in a basket. It’s so fresh and lovely on a block and just screams spring!
I like blocks with lots of little pieces and parts so I can chain piece to my hearts content.
I love making backgrounds with string piecing, find it gives the quilt movement.
I do mostly charity quilting… plus I get a lot of scrap from other quilters. I’m making HST using various methods (the paper sheets, and the diagonal stitch across 2 square method, I’ve got the plastic stencil sheet for marking 2 FQ then stitching — I’ve not tried this yet. But all those little HST units by any method are like quilting M&Ms… color, sweet and fun :) K
I just discovered your site today and it is great I am not done exploring yet your ezine, block of the month.. Love finding something new on the blog hops. Oh I prefer to do piece quilting. Thank you for the give away chance and all the work on your site. Becky
I really love to do machine applique, but am fond of all kinds of quick piecing techniques too. Really, it’s quilting—-what DON’T we love??? :)
I like to piece my quilt blocks!
I like to piece and do fusible applique blocks.
I live piecing blocks.
I am a long time fan of strip piecing, but recently took an online class on foundation paper piecing, and it is good, Thanks for your great block, Kathy in Colo
Piecing is my favorite. Love the rhythm of the machine. :)
I mostly piece, but like to add some hand embroidery. I like brights and scrappy, but challenge myself to use other fabrics. I’m a sucker for flowers.
swalker287 (at) aol (dot) com
I like to do traditional piecing and paper piecing.
What a cute idea I would like to add the flowers to another basket quilt, thanks for the chance to win.
Those little flowers would be a great addition to any basket quilt Thanks for the block and give away.
I usually just piece, but getting into more fusible applique. My favorite part is the quilting!! Lovely basket block – this one would be fun to quilt!!
I’m a beginning quilter, still on my first quilt. I hand pieced the top and am now working on hand quilting my “sandwich”. I am slow, but I love it. Since this is all I’ve done, right now I prefer hand quilting. But my next one I’m going to attempt using the machine. Love your baskets with the appliqued flowers.
I think my favorite thing to do is piece. I love to see how different shapes can be put together to make a while.
I enjoy just about everything, but I really enjoy paper-piecing…especially after discovering Peggy Martin’s Quick Strip method. It’s addicting and fun, and I adore all the stars and designs made possible by paper piecing, and sharp, precise points.
reillyr2(at)hotmail(dot)com
as a newish quilter, I am enjoying learning new techniques and trying new block designs. i havn’t found a favorite yet. the samplers are fun as there is so much variety. siwh there was more time.
trvlbuddy@yahoo.com
So far, I’ve only pieced blocks, but I recently bought an embroidery sewing machine so I will be doing applique’ and embroidery soon. I love the looks.
Traditional pieced blocks are my favourite. I love the math and challenge of matching seams.
SO many ways to use your block from wall hanging, table runner, quilt etc. Myself I enjoy scrap quilting. My fellow guild members laugh as I retrieve their scraps from the bins. Thank for a chance to win. happy quilting. :)
What a darling basket block! I love simple piecing so will have to change that thought for your block!
I mostly piece but love the look of applique. I’m just not patient enough to do applique, even by machine. However, I will let my embroidery machine do my applique for me.
I love the look of applique, but I prefer to piece my blocks. I’m thinking I want to try the applique on your new block of the month–looks like a great combo of piecing and applique. I haven’t started yet–need to finish up a few things first.
I like to piece or applique. I do enjoy paper piecing small projects. Thanks for the chance to win.
regular machine piecing is probably my favorite….i get to commune with my vintage viking machine and we make a great team….nice traditional block tweaked a bit for big improvement….thanks for participating
I love to combine piecing and applique – who can resist a basket of posies
I like your baskets. And I love to applique as well as piecing, be it EPP or FP or just regular
Love your block. I am still learning, but I like to piece, paper piece, and applique. I’m happy I found your website through this blog tour. Thanks for the giveaway chance.
I love needle turn applique, especially Hawaiian applique. It’s an easy project to have handy whenever I happen to have even 10 minutes to sit and sew.
I prefer piecing especially 9-patch but appliques with buttonhole stitch is a fav also.
I like any form of piecing that does not necessitate that every point be perfect. Which for me is pretty much everything but paper piecing. Just look at my stuff from at least 15 feet away.
Your story of making the video cracked me up. I wasn’t at market so my daughter filmed my video, and in one take the phone started ringing. She stopped filming and I was all “WHY ARE YOU STOPPING! That was the best take yet!” and she looked at me like I was crazy and asked “Did you not HEAR the phone ringing?” Yeah, that wouldn’t have worked.
I love to piece and if I can add applique on a small scale to make it even better, then yea me!
I am fairly new to the world of appliqued blocks, a great learning experience!
I love quilts that are appliqued and pieced. My favorite is to applique, love your block.
I am still a beginner with quilt making. I like easy pieced and paper pieced quilts.
Love your block!! My favorite parts of quilting cover almost everything: I do love piecing and paper piecing. I love basket motifs and will be anxious to try yours!
I really like to paper piece, but I also like a “crazy” method by Buggy Barn Quilts.
Basket quilts, especially older versions, are favorites of mine and I really like your basket, so cute. I just like making items of fabric…….the feel, the colors but now that my eyesight is not what it used to be I do more of the simple machine piecing.
I love plain and simple straight line piecing. Half-square triangles are my favorites!

I like to machine piece blocks as my favorite method. However, I do like to hand piece. I am hand piecing a Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt currently. It is 1″ finished on a side. I hope it will be a queen size quilt. I like the look of applique and like to stretch to do that from time to time. I also enjoy simple embroidery. Thanks for the chance to win a magazine.
I love to chain piece. It seems like I can get a lot accomplished is a short amount of time.
Love the block.
I would love to learn how to paper piece. These look like exciting blocks.
I do love to machine piece with any amount of fabric too.
Yes, I mostly just like to piece, with a tiny bit of applique added in. Love your block!
I’m a piecer and I love working with small pieces!
I like piecing blocks and echo Jeanne in Ohio. I love small scrap pieces coming together.
HI there! I like to do any type of piecing/handwork… however, since I am currently raising my two grandgirls (almost three and five and 3/4), F A S T is best. I try for accuracy, but no longer perfection!
We are gonna do some needlework together soon, so we will be back for your cute ideas!
I like regular piecing as that’s what I’m best at.
I love hand appliqué…it’s very relaxing.
Piecing! And I’m really into the simple, big pieces.
I started with hand applique, now I have found a love for foundation piecing, and am continually improving my regular piecing skills. Love them all at different times, depending on my mood.
What a CUTE block Jacquelynne!!! Of course, you know I like to do every kind of quilting method under the sun :) But I think my favorite is a combo of piecing and applique. Thanks for sharing your block with us!
I like strip piecing to get projects done quickly.
I love piecing mixed with embroidery and/or appliqué. Your block is cute! Congratulations on being in this issue.
I basically like to do piecing. One of these days I am going to work up the nerve to do paper piecing. Meanwhile, your basket block is just beautiful.
Very cute block. Congratualtions on making the magazine.
I enjoy piecing and adding embroidery. I will applique however it’s somewhat challenging. Love your block!
I like to paper piece–even on blocks that don’t really need it because it’s so precise and I can match more easily and keep from having bias edges stretch.
I do mostly piecing right now, but I have plans to do more techniques.
I love to piece and also to paper piece. I haven’t done a whole lot of applique yet, but this block looks like it would be a great place to start. Thanks for the opportunity to win the magazine.
I don’t have a favorite pieced block because I love any block with appliqué!
Love your block!! I like all kinds of piecing.
I love to paper piece. It is the only way I can seem to get sharp points on some of the block patterns. I like to machine piece, too
I like to piece and do some applique, so am a big fan of your block. I like the wallhanging best.
What a great block! I enjoy a variety of techniques, but paper piecing is my favorite.
As a new quilter I’m not sure if I have a favorite yet. I really enjoy needle turn appliqué, piecing and adding embroidery? Gorgeous block!!
Your block’s so cute, I enjoy a variety of techniques, but definitely, paper piecing is my fave!
I am trying to like to piece but I really hate cutting it out… paper piecing gives great points
I enjoy the math of piecing, but when I found paper piecing I was in love. It helps me be more precise in angles. But right now, my favorite thing to do is randomly sew scraps like a crazy quilt to make my own “fabric”. The mindless sewing is just so soothing!
I love your block! I hope I win so I can make that block!! My favorite type of block is one with applique or embroidery. I love the added dimension it gives. Thank you for this!!
I like all parts of quilting – truly I do!
My favorite technique is paper piecing. It allows you to create so many things that are only possible with that method. love it.
In quilting, as in life, I like a balance of things … like quilting techniques. If I had to choose just one, it would be improvisational piecing.
I usually do machine quilting but just recently I have tried to do paper piecing which is so different from other methods
I love piecing, have never tried paper piecing yet, but am learning Hand Applique! Am slow, but do love doing! :)
I love applique most of all, but I also like to piece and paper piece. I am a scrap quilter and have moved into really small pieces. I am making a postage stamp quilt now and am just finishing up a yo-yo quilt from a Kim Deihl book. I also crazy quilt. Thanks for the give-away!
I love paper piecing. But, I really have to concentrate when I do it or I get confused. Love your flower basket.
I like it all, piecing, appliqué,hand quilting, machine quilting. Not much of a paper piece r tho.
Happy holidays to you and yours.
I enjoy piecing and machine applique. I think that’s why I’m so excited about your Block of the Month. Thanks so much for sharing your pattern with us.
I like to piece most of all, but I really need to expand my horizons and try paper piecing and machine applique!

I am a real fan of piecing. I do love the precision of paper piecing, and the blocks achieved, but my comfort zone is Machine piecing.
I love to combine hand embroidery with simple piecing. I love the feel of fabric and texture, along with the visual aspect.
What I do most is piecing, but my favourite is applique. Not sure why I don’t do more of it!
I love all kinds of blocks, It’s fun to embroider and also applique. I had fun making a diamond quilt piecing the material and then cutting blocks from the strips was fun and I was amazed that most of the seams came out perfect. I’ve been sewing for years, but only quilting for a couple of those. Thanks for this great giveaway!
I like traditional piecing, but for special gifts I will appliqué, machine or by hand, it really puts a fine touch on the blocks. I love your block!!
I like to do traditional piecing mostly.
my favorite is scrappy piecing but have become addicted to hexies recently.
What I do most often is piecing but I like the variety of doing some applique, embroidery and paper piecing.

Appliqué!
Paper piecing is by far my favorite, with patchwork piecing second. I love the accuracy of paper piecing. Your wall hanging is just precious.
I’ve been making scrappy quilts lately to use up my stash. And I’ll try just about anything–paper piecing, applique, patchwork.
Piecing at the machine is my fave–I can do it for hours! It’s very easy to lose track of time :-)
Piecing is my favorite but I enjoy paper piecing and machine appliqué too.
I love piecing, appliqueing…I spend allot of time in my sewing room every day making quilts, wall hangings and right now making many small things for xmas gifts. I love your wall hanging and look forward to the next block…thank you so much for this
I like plain old piecing. A basket block quilt is on my someday list!
First of all, thank you for the giveaway and a chance to win.
I love to handpiece and sew by sewing machine. I like handapplique and embroidery on my blocks, the more stitches the better. Also, I like handquilting. The little pieces of fabric are my toys to play with. When a project is finished I have to get new toys.
Greetings,
Sylvia
I do most of my blocks by piecing. However, I have done some paper-piecing and a whole wall hanging that way and found it fun. I do like to do handwork but haven’t decorated many quilt blocks with handwork yet. Always something new to try. I’d love to try some of blocks in this book–a good way to stretch my abilities.
I want ti try too!
I like combining piecing and any method of applique. Even the smallest amount of applique can make a boring quilt into a WOWZER.
I Like hand appliqué. But Also paper piercing and redwork. Workinhg by hand gives me a clear head after a day of hard work.
I like to piece, love making sampler blocks and using jelly rolls also new found skill of machine appliqué
I love to piece with the option to embellish the design.
I love everything about quilting! I do love regular piecing the most with small pieces and do some applique and paper piecing as well, but love regular piecing the most. I also stipple quilt and do circles and echo quilting. Thanks for the giveaway. Marilyn
I love to do regular piecing the most, but do machine quilting and applique. I do a little of paper piecing.
I love getting new idea’s!!!
my fav way to quilt is just crazy quilt style. since everything I do is hand sewn, I can put it down for a while and pick it back up later and never loose my place or forget where I put the patterns. lol

I enjoy regular piecing best, but I do paper piece and applique on occasion.

I love your basket and would love to win the book. My favorite type of sewing is applique, but also love to paper piece.
I am having so much fun with piecing that I haven’t really tried much else.
I like choosing the colors to go with what shapes I am using for a particular quilt block.
I love to do machine applique with machine embroidery embellishments, but a bad day quilting is still better than almost anything else (is there such a thing as a bad day quilting?)
I prefer piecing, not big on applique, but when I have to I do!
It depends on which project I choose to make whether it’s machine pieced paper pieced or machine appliqued. I enjoy doing them all. Your block is beautiful. I especially like the table runner. I would love to win a copy of the book.
Warm hugs,
Ruthie
I have never paper pieced, it’s on my list of things to try. I have done applique and embroidery. I like both but if I’m in a hurry machine piecing is the way to go! Your block is beautiful. Thanks for sharing and the chance to win:)
I love your basket block! I like piecing, paper piecing is too much work and i do not have the patience for it.
I love to piece and to applique (both hand and machine). Love your block, which looks like it is made up of both of my favorite things. Thanks
I’m pretty new to quilting but I am facinated by the HST and all the techniques out there to make them appear in multiple quantities! I am also intrigued by Flying Geese, and the variety of ways to make them with perfect points. I love to paper piece and see how perfect the patterns turn out every time! I am just now attempting my first applique with a baby quilt so we will see how that goes! Your Basket Block is adorable! I am learning new techniques every day from people just like you. I would love to win a copy of your book!

Plain SIMPLE piecing!
I love them all; machine piecing, paper piecing, applique and embellishing the blocks with hand embroidery and/or beads. Also enjoy using scraps to make mosaic blocks. Thanks for your wonderful inspirations.
I like to mindlessly machine piece with a revved up engine of my sewing machine during the day, and I like to hand quilt and sewing on bindings at night… I know, you’d think it would be the other way around :)
I like piecing and patchwork and if I can strip piece, I am very happy.
beautiful quilt block thanks for sharing
Love to machine piece, but am anxious to start practicing some applique.
I like regular piecing piecing, but I also like paper piecing.
I really like paper piecing, but since it is very time consuming I also like traditional piecing. I like you basket. I have some of my grandma’s hand sewn baskets I am looking for something to add to and make a project. These may work together.
I like antique patterns and style but like to challenge myself with appliqué, paper piece and embroidery work
I like to machine piece and hand applique. Sometimes I wish I could clone myself to have more time to enjoy my quilting!
Fairly new at making blocks at the moment so I do not have a favourite yet! Just soaking it all in!
I like appliques with embroidery around the edges of the appliques.
I think it makes a stand~out vision.
