Are you ready for block #2?! Time for another free quilt block! PLEASE NOTE- I realize that there is A LOT OF INFORMATION IN THIS POST! PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THROUGH IT ALL- Answers to most of your questions will be found in this post. Thanks!!

The second block for the Save the Bees Free Block of the Month was sent out a short time ago. If you are signed up, please check your email for your pattern. (Please note- sometimes it can several hours for the email to reach your inbox. If you don’t have it yet, please be patient and check back a little later.)

If you can’t find your email, please check your spam folder, and Gmail users please check your “Promotions” folder. If you still can’t find it, please email me  We do our best to answer as soon as possible. PLEASE do not comment here to tell us that you can’t find your email- you comment will be deleted! Please email for assistance. Thank you!!

VERY IMPORTANT- If you email us a question and don’t hear back in 24-48 hours, please check your spam folder! We answer all emails, so if you don’t hear back from us, it’s very possible that our response is in your spam folder!!

For technical questions, like how to download/save a PDF, etc. please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.

If you are NOT signed up yet, please fill in the box in the upper right side bar of THIS PAGE to get your FREE block patterns! NOTE- THE PATTERNS ARE NOT ON MY WEBSITE OR BLOG- YOU MUST SIGN UP TO RECEIVE THEM BY EMAIL.

Just ONE MORE THING- Please download and save the files to your computer immediately, so that you can find them when you need them. Don’t rely on trying to find the email with the links later- As many have found, emails tend to get lost, even when you put them in a special folder :)  As this event grows larger with more and more participants, it gets more difficult for me to reply to emails requesting that I re-send the patterns. THANKS SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!

OK- time for the fun!

The second block features a different flower and buzz-y bee:

It is machine appliqued. The flight trail was added using black thread for free motion quilting. You could also hand embroider it, or even draw it in with a find point permanent black marker. Many of you have been doing both applique and embroidery- you can applique the design first, and then embroider in some details on the flower and leaves.

For the block piecing, we are doing Half Rectangle Triangles (HRT’s). Now, it’s NOT exactly the same as making Half SQUARE Triangles (HST’s), which we do quite often in quilting. Don’t let this intimidate you, it’s actually pretty fun!! I’ve created a video tutorial to walk you through it- I think you will find this super helpful!! AND you don’t need any specialty rulers, either.

We LOVE seeing your blocks! Our Sew Quilty Friends Facebook group has been super active this year- I think we’ve got at least 200 different block photos there (and counting!!!) My husband made this video with photos of Block #1 that have been posted in Sew Quilty Friends (you will LOVE the “soundtrack” that he added!):
