I hope you will join me for my third annual live Sew Along! On Saturday, September 17, 2016 (that’s just over a week away), we’ll be “meeting” via Facebook and here on my blog. This will be a fun day of sewing to catch up on the Maggie’s First Dance Block of the Month. Or maybe, you are already caught up, but you’d like to make some extra blocks. Maybe you haven’t even started yet and you need a little
kick in the butt gentle persuasion to get you going!
Our little sewing event will take place from 12 noon til 4 pm EST (that’s NYC time). You can go here to find your particular start time for your location. Of course, feel free to start your sewing early, or keep going once the Sew Along is over… In the past, we’ve had participants from all over the U.S. and Canada, the U.K., France, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand!
And oh yes, there are some goodies in store for you:
We will have prizes every hour. Really good prizes- A Free Craftsy Class, Fat Quarter Shop Gift Certificate, Aurfil Thread, a Fall’s Finery Pattern and Clearly Perfect Angles tool from New Leaf Stitches….
You will be able to post photos of your progress so we can see what everyone is working on. Also, if you have any questions, or if you’d like to offer any tips to other participants, this would be your chance!
Last year, my electric went out in the MIDDLE of our Sew Along! No electric means no internet! I think my husband and I must have looked really funny grabbing everything (including the dog) and high-tailing it over to his office so we could use the internet there!
To participate on Facebook, follow along and post your photos and comments on my page here.
To participate here on my blog, just show up here on the 17th! Remember you’ll have to refresh the page frequently, as I’ll keep adding information, photos, etc. to the post as we go along.
Please note that I will not be supplying specific patterns for this event- this is your chance to work on your Block of the Month. I also WILL NOT be able to answer specific technical questions (like, “Can’t find my patterns”) during this event, due to the amount of activity going on. Please MAKE SURE that you have your patterns BEFORE Sept. 17.
If you haven’t signed up yet, or if you have a friend who’d like to participate, please send them this link: http://jacquelynnesteves.com/maggies-first-dance-block-of-the-month/
Wouldn’t it be fun to get together with your friends, and have a “real” Sew Along while we are sewing here?? Invite your friends over and have a stitching party!!! Woo hoo!Photo from Life Magazine
Here is a round up of meals you can make ahead- so you can sew all day, and then enjoy a yummy dinner, with no fuss. Click here.
A “Bonus” Pattern!
On Sew Along Day, I will be giving you a pattern to make this pillow case for the Million Pillow Case Challenge, which is taking place today in Des Moines, Iowa. Read more about it here. You can use any of the Maggie’s First Dance applique patterns to make this. If you would like to make a pillow case on Sew Along Day, here are the fabric requirements:
- Fabric #1 for main part of pillowcase- 3/4 yard
- Fabric #2 for band- 3/8 yard
- Fabric Scraps for applique
- Fusible web, thread
I hope you will join us! It’s going to be fun!
