Sew Along Day is coming!

I hope you will join me for my first ever live Sew Along! On Saturday, January 10 (that’s just over a week away), we’ll be “meeting” via Facebook, Instagram, and here on my blog. This will be a fun day of sewing to catch up on the Sew Sweet Simplicity Block of the Month. Or maybe, you are already caught up, but you’d like to make some extra blocks. Maybe you haven’t even started yet and you need a little kick in the butt gentle persuasion to get you going.

Our little sewing event will take place from 12 noon til 4 pm EST (that’s 9 am til 1 pm Pacific time, and I believe 5 pm til 9 pm in the UK). Of course, feel free to start your sewing early, or keep going once the Sew Along is over… We will have prizes every hour. Really good prizes. Like this:

You will be able to post photos of your progress so we can see what everyone is working on. Also, if you have any questions, or if you’d like to offer any tips to other participants, this would be your chance! There will also be some other fun “surprises” along the way!

To participate on Facebook, follow along and post your photos and comments on my page here.

To participate on Instagram, post your photos using the hashtag #CatchingUpSewAlong and mention me @JacquelynneSteves

To participate here on my blog, just show up here on the 10th! Remember you’ll have to refresh the page frequently, as I’ll keep adding information, photos, etc. to the post as we go along.

(Please note that I will not be supplying specific patterns for this event- this is your chance to work on your Block of the Month.)

Next week, I’m going to post a recipe for a slow-cooker dinner, so you can put it together on Friday night and then just sew all day on Saturday, and at the end of the day have a yummy dinner as your reward :)

I have to admit that I’m a little nervous about hosting my first “live” event- What if we have insurmountable technical issues? What if no one has fun? What if no one comes??

OK. Deep breaths. It’s going to be fine. It’s going to be fun!

Thanks to our sponsors, Henry Glass Fabrics and Aurifil thread!

Hope to “see” you on January 10!
PS- a couple of you have asked about time zones. We will be starting at noon on January 10, New York City time (EST). You can go here to find your particular start time for your location.

Looking forward to Saturday. My quilt group, the Pine Creek Quilters, is having a sewing day from 9 AM to 5 PM EST, and many of us are participating in your BOM so we’ll follow along and post some photos throughout the day. I, for one, plan on doing some catching up! Cheers!!

What a great idea! I would love to join in … I am in the UK so it’s a fun evening activity and I’ve been planning on doing the blocks (amongst other things). Does that mean I get to shop for more fabric? :-)

Will be sewing on Saturday – well Friday too. I have 4 projects with an end of February deadline and they are somewhat complex. So I need to finish those before starting anything new…Finish Up. That’s what I will be doing.

My poor printer is out of ink, so I may get my blocks done on Saturday, but the applique may have to wait. I need to catch up on two blocks and look forward to joining the group for the sew along. Thanks for hosting.
