Sew Sweet Simplicity Free Block of the Month- Block 2 is here!

Sew Sweet Simplicity Free Block of the Month Block 2 has arrived! If you are signed up for the BOM, you should have gotten an email (yesterday or today) with the block pattern. If you have not received your block pattern yet- please check this “Frequently Asked Questions” page for tips on “finding” and reading your email and pattern. Then, if none of those tips work, please email me. Do not leave a comment here to tell me that you have not received your block– you will get a faster response if you email. Also, please, use the FAQ page first before emailing- unfortunately, I am receiving many emails from people who can’t find their emails, and it’s getting difficult for me to answer each one. THANK YOU!!!

And now… on to the fun!!! (Read to the bottom of the post to find out about the giveaway…)

Lots of you have posted photos of your Block #1 on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram- you guys have come up with so many creative ways to make this block! People have used very different colorways, novelty fabrics, and even machine embroidery.

Block #2 will follow the same “formula” as Block #1, with HST’s and some flying geese. (By the time we get done with these blocks, you will be pros!!)

Here is my appliqued block #2, after it was quilted:

And here is my embroidered block, after quilting (same exact block, done with different fabrics and embroidery instead of applique):

And once again- we are having a giveaway! Hop on over the blogs below, see their rendition of Block #2,and get inspired! You can also enter the giveaway at each of the blogs below (no giveaway here on this blog- please go to the blogs below to enter.) Here is this month’s prize:

Upstairs Hobby Room

Mountain Quiltworks

Bejeweled Quilts

A Quilt and a Prayer

Lily Pad Quilting

Wedding Dress Blue

Garden Path Quilts

Lots of you have been telling me that you are doing this BOM with your friends, quilt group, sister… I love hearing that! If you know someone who hasn’t signed up yet, there is still time. When you sign up, you will receive an email with the links for all of the previous blocks.

On Monday, December 22, Block #3 AND Bonus Block #1 will be released. If you are making the 6 block quilt, you will have 2 blocks to work on, and if you are making the 4 block quilt, you will have just 1 block to work on. Also, be sure to check out the blog post for that day- we will have another giveaway! AND- I can’t wait to see what you all make! There are lots of ways for you to share your creations with us-

  • *I have just set up a Pinterest board for this Block of the Month. If you would like to be able to post your BOM photos on this group board, email me for an invitation and I’ll add you to the group board.
  • *Share your progress on social media- Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Flickr, etc. Use the hashtag #SewSweetSimplicity so we can find your photos. (The hashtag is very important- we won’t be able to find your photos without it.) You can also post them on my Facebook page.

And thanks again to our Blog Hop Sponsors, Aurifil and Henry Glass Fabrics.

I can’t wait to see your interpretation of the block with the flowers- will you do that same dramatic palette with the black?

Jacquelyne, I have you to thank for giving me courage enough to start “real” quilting. Up to this point, I’ve only done scrappy, quilt-as-you-go styles of quilting and only small projects. I just loved following your super-easy tutorial and am looking forward to my second block…which will hopefully be created tomorrow! Thank you so much.

It’s been really great seeing everyone’s blocks and all the variety. I signed up in September and with some investigating, found I had never “confirmed” the email. The reason was it was in the “Promotions” folder, I never knew about that, hehe. So I think I’m all on track now and have all the information from the beginning. I’ve visited all the blogs with the giveaway, following some new ones and can’t wait for the next step. I know this has been tons of work, so Thank you!!
