I liked #11 best. You can showcase a fabric and use up some small pieces at the same time. Also if used alone the secondary pattern would be pretty.
Wow! I love them all but I have really enjoyed embroidery again! I’m excited to see which blocks I actually end up using in my quilt and which will become wall hangings, mug rugs, etc. This is my first quilt along and I’m hooked!
My favorite is #8, Into the unknown. We are definitely going into the unknown right now. I also found it pleasing to my eyes.
#10 is my favorite block. Liked learning a new method of piecing accurate flying geese. Really enjoyed this group and seeing all the choices of fabric used.
Looking up, looking forward! I had never done any of these blocks before as I am a brand spanking newbie! I learned a lot, A LOT!! And your page is an environment where I could soak up a lot more! I really enjoyed this.
I love the Unity Star block best and my 12 yo granddaughter loved block 11 because it didnt look anything like she thought it would as she made it. This project has really helped us enjoy our Sundays together.
HI, densipay1@gmail.com I like block #8 “Climbing the Mountain”. The block lends itself to using scraps especially strips.
This sew along has challenged me, I’ve learned a lot! I haven’t tried #12 yet but I’ve always wanted to know how to do a star. I love that the instructions are very clear and easy to follow.
My favorite was #10. It was a little different than how I’ve done flying geese before & it came out perfectly. Thanks for doing this. It was lots of fun.
I love block 12, Unity Star. I love that the lighter and darker blocks play a part in the focus, getting the right color to be the magic.
I liked #7 with the half triangles. Made all mine out of the same pieces of scrap material. Now that I have all the blocks, My plan is to make each one again only using designated pieces of fabric so there is a theme. Saw the lady that used “kids at the ocean ” as her designated fabric (middle block)) and loved the way it is coming. Thank you for allowing be to be part of the group.
.
Block 11 was my favourite because it is so versatile in uses. I really like them all. I have learned to love quilting again thanks to this sew along. Thank you so much!
My favorite is block #8 because you can use s many different fabrics and put them together so many ways.
I loved them all. Some a little harder but a learning experience. I am so excited for embroidery blocks. I got away from doing for to long. Enjoying learning to use both in a quilt has been the best of all. Thank you ever so much.
I have really enjoyed this time of making blocks and embroidery . I look forward to another one. I liked all of them but had trouble with some. The number 7 was a good one.
It’s been fun learning different blocks. I would say it’s a toss up between #10, I always wanted to try the flying geese, but was intimidated by it. Now I’m not. #11 gave me a chance show off the bigger prints.
I enjoyed all of them because their size were very doable and enjoyable! My favorite was Block 8 because of the complex designs you can get by changing 1-3 fabrics! slnoel@aol.com
Hard to choose just one!! But #5 is a happy block. Love pinwheels anytime. Ty for sharing the sew along
It’s challenging to pick my favorite, but I think the classic 9 patch, #1, is mine…it reminded me of the patch I started with way back when my aunt taught me to quilt. I was probably 6 and have enjoyed it ever since!
This has been wonderful. All the ladies have been nothing but positive in this negative environment now! Loved all the support from you and the ladies. Being a nurse at this time is challenging. I thank you for giving me some smiles and laughs along the way! Let’s do it again some time
My overall favorite was number 11, Climbing the Mountain. It went together very fast and easy. I have never done a block like that before and it was fun to watch it come together with some trimming up. I have really enjoyed this sew along. Thanks for all the positive comments about each block. It was something to keep me grounded in what’s important and gave me something to look forward to each week. I also liked how we started out very simple with a nine patch and got more complex as we went along. The instructions were very clear.
I my favorite is Don’t Worry Be Happy. I have always loved pinwheel blocks!
muellersharon@verizon.net
#12 Unity Star is my favorite! Like how the fabrics play with each other.
I loved #12 Unity Star. Also liked Don’t Worry, Be Happy. This sew along was so uplifting during a very challenging time. Thank you so much!
This is a tough decision, but I feel that “Climbing the Mountain” is my favorite block. I love the design of it and it is true to life. I also love alo the embroidery blocks. The sun and umbrella are my two favorites.
#12 Unity Star love it because it reminds me of an Ohio Star which I’m from. Loved this mystery quilt! Thanks so much.
I have loved every part of this. I really enjoyed the embroidery pieces. My granddaughter is going to enjoy it and each piece will give her something positive to think about. Thank you for giving each of us something to think about during this time
I have loved all the blocks. This was a really fun time for me to do something for myself. I’m thinking I have to love #12 as I love stars and love the simplicity and your wonderful directions that are so easy to follow. Also thought I was going to do the embroidery blocks, but could see I would never get them accomplished so I used crayons and love the outcome. My blocks are soft colors so am hoping I will be able to put them together in a project. I was a newbie to this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your talent.
There are 2 blocks that are speaking to me: 11- Climbing the Mountain and 12 – Unity Star.
When I make this, I think I will arrange them so the top of the mountain points to the star.
I like the Unity Star, block #12. Thank you for hosting this free sew along. It has been very inspirational and seeing the beautiful blocks and stunning quilts made by othe participants an added bonus.
Block 12 was one of my favorites as it pushed me out of my comfort zone
I live block #11v climbing the mountain. The White Mountains are my happy place and this reminds me of them. ❤
I love block 9 because of its name, all roads lead home. I hope that all my children understand that! All roads do indeed lead to home! Family! I love all these blocks and picking up my embroidery needle! This sew along is gorgeous with the Singing in the rain fabric line!! Thank you sewing has saved my soul
I like Block #2. I can tie in all the colors of the quilt in this one block.
cindywestover@comporium.net
I loved making block #9, it was very challenging to make. Picking colors and getting the points right was fun!
I like #12 best. Unity , that is what this sew a long ment to me. Let us be united. We are in a tough time now but you have brought us all together.
My favorite block is #4…Every Day is a Gift. My husband had a 99%blockage on the widowmaker artery in his heart and it was found by accident during a routine checkup because of a suspicious test result after he was diagnosed as a diabetic. With absolutely no heart attack symptoms, an immediate procedure for a stint was performed. Now he and I both believe each and every day is a gift. Block #4 was very easy but we can’t take anything for granted just because it is easy with no problems!! We found out and I am enjoying everyday day!!
Lindajglisson@gmail.com
I’ve really enjoyed this sew along and I think my favorite is number 12. I love star blocks and that one was fun to make!
schwappachs@hotmail.com
My favorite block #9 it was easy and fun to make. I enjoyed this sew along very much!
Not sure if my entry went. My favorite block is number 7 and 8. I need to work on my corners and matching up points.
I really liked all of them but loved the techniques of number 9 as a new idea. Liked that you oversized the cut pieces of several to allow fior precision cutting
I love thos last one unity star. I love anything with stars.
My favorite block is #8 because it reminds me of something my great grandmother used to tell me, while she was teaching me to quilt.
When you walk to the edge of all the light you have and take that first step into the darkness of the unknown, you must believe one of two things will happen: there will be something solid to hold on to or you will be taught how to fly!
This sew along was sew much fun. One reason is because all of the blocks were straight forward enough that I could keep up (even in the middle of moving). I think my favorite was block 11. It looks complicated but went together in a snap!
I am so glad Bev posted this. This is the petfevt project just right now. My favourite block is #7 Today and Tomorrow. We can’t live in the past but only treasure today and look forward to Tomorrow.
I have made 3 colour ways and have enjoyed each block. I plan on keeping one and donating 2 to our guild we care program thank you for your work
I love the simplicity of blocks #6, #8 and #11…..not too busy….but I mostly like block #11 for the scrap strips it can use and it’s just more appealing to me.
This has been such a great project in a time when so much is so difficult. Every day is a Gift, #4, is my favorite. You really have to be reminded of that, especially when you have to consciously do some searching to see it. Thank you, Jacqueline, for providing this as a project from week to week, something fun to look forward to!??
Block 10 because there’s been some rough times but thank God , it’s still good . Keep looking up and moving forward , just like we all have to do . Thanks for sharing with us . Looking forward to time to do these .
I love block #5, this is my first sew along and I look forward to the next one!
I liked block 10 as it is very meaningful for life. We have to keep moving on life’s journey. We all have mountains to climb and have to keep looking up and looking forward. As a new quilter, I have been looking forward to each week’s new block and each new skill to learn.
The “Every day is a Gift” is my favorite ❤ Right now, with so much adversity going on, we have to look at each day as a new beginning, and think about what we can do to make a positive contribution to our lives. The colors are only limited by our imagination ✨
Loved this sew along! It is wonderful seeing
Blocks created by so many new quilters as well as those who have been quilting for years.
I loved all the blocks. Block 7 is my favorite. I really hope you do another sew along,
I liked Beacon of Hope as best block. THat is what we All need during this period of stress .. the embroidery block i liked was dancing in rain. For same reason. We must find joy everyday.
I fell in love with the embroidery bonus block ideas. I am behind but do plan to complete! Thank you Jacquelynne for keeping us together during this time!
I liked block #11 the best because I can make several interesting new designs with a simple block.
I liked block 8. It’s challenging for me and I like to learn to overcome little mistakes like matching corners or points.
I like block 5. It was fun , fast and yet challenging to get the points lined up.
I love Climbing the Mountain. All of the blocks were perfect together!
My favorite is Block No 5. I love the way it looked when it was all finished.
My favorite is #12. It combined all we learned into one block. I have not quilted in a long time and forgot how much I enjoyed it! I just recently replaced my sewing machine (lost mine when we flooded during harvey) and have already made 4 quilt tops. Your BOW has really gotten me inspired!
I like embroidery block 3, it takes me back to childhood. Dancing in the rain, life was simple and uncomplicated.
My favorite is Beacon of Hope. I really love lighthouses for what they stand for and their historic tasks. Depending on how one plays with the fabrics, the lens of the light can almost be seen shining to warn ships away from the shoals. We are currently vacationing in northern Michigan and have visited the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum so that’s probably why lighthouse beacons are on my mind. ?
I have enjoyed this see along so much. I was eager to see each block on Mondays and loved the simplicity and sweet charm of each one . Difficult to pick just one gave but I will choose #9.
It would have to be #12 block. I thought it was going to be difficult, but I was having an exceptionally great sewing day. The block went together easily. I also love this type of star.
I enjoyed all of the blocks, and can’t wait for the blocks made into a quilt.
This will be a happy remembrance with all of being together, doing something positive.
Thank you Chris and Jacquelynne.
I love block 11. It was fun to do and I’ve never done one like it. Thanks fir all the blocks!
I like the unity star block the best. I feel as though I can use it in more quilts with a variety of colors.
I like number 9 the best. I love the pop of yellow in the center.
I would have to say #1. It was a great way to start. I am new at quilting. I so enjoyed learning all the different options for blocks. Excited to continue on and make a few quilts. Thank you.
I loved number 11. It let’s me showcase a cute material. This BOW has literally been my savng grace. Have been caring for my mil in my home, as she was ending her life and fighting alzheimer disease. A terrible time, but each week I got away and created a beautiful block. I could look forward to each day, and each week, because of you. There are no words to thank you enough. Just what I needed, when I needed it.
This has been such a great learning experience with all the blocks. My favorite has been the 9th. Thanks for helping improving my skills.
I loved every block. They were quick and so much fun to do. Love #2 just because you used my life verse, Luke 1:37, With God, all things are possible. It’s so true. All the encouragement through the quotes you selected for each block really spoke to my heart! I loved, loved, loved doing this. Thank you !
I am fairly new to quilting, this was my first block of the week quilt. I liked all the squares but I liked Into the Unknown and the dance in the rain embroidery block
Dancing in the rain was my favorite because of memories of dancing in the rain showers with my Granddaughter.
I like #11 best. It really shows off the materials used and it looked excellent with embroidery added
My favorite block had to be the very first one, Trust the Journey. It was my first ever quilt block and looking back now, it started a Journey that I trust will give me years of enjoyment.
While I enjoyed then all, Number 8 was fun because by rearranging (accidentally) I would up with three different looking blocks. Not only were your patterns easy to read and complete, but just your words of encouragement during this time were comforting. I will miss having something to look forward to on Mondays. Thank you.
I I liked making block number 12….I love star blocks! This has been a fun sew-along and non-stressful during a very stressful time. I like the addition of embroidery blocks too! Thanks for the fun!
I love the Last block the most!! It shows off fabrics the mosr!
I liked #5. Don’t worry be happy. Because the sew along made me feel that way.
#10 looking up, moving forward is my favorite. The message was just what I needed at that time, plus the instructions made it go so easily. First flying geese blocks that I have done so well.
I like block 12 Unity Star because I like any patterns with a star
I like block #1. I gives me the opportunity to use up scraps as well as jazzing up HST
I like block #10, star blocks have always been my favorite so I think I’ll make several of this one. Thank you so much for giving me a reason to look forward to Mondays! This has been fun!!!
Number 6 Beacon of hope is my favourite. We need hope in so many ways. Personally we need hope since my husband was diagnosed with cancer in July. Hope every day!
I love every single block. I had not quilted for such a long time and this great project has got me back on track. I have learned to love quilting again and look forward to doing so many projects. Thank you to all for your sharing. This has been great.
I love the Unity Star block best and my 12 yo granddaughter loved block 11 because it didnt look anything like she thought it would as she made it. This project has really helped us enjoy our Sundays together.
My favorite was block #9, All Roads Lead Home”. I had a blast picking the fabrics and appliqueing butterflies in the (B) blocks. Thanks for the opportunity. But, I feel as if I’ve already won. I enjoyed the quilt along. Thanks for sharing your talent. (Sungoddess105@yahoo.com)
I’m so happy to be doing some embroidery again, it’s been ages. As for the blocks, I’ve enjoyed them all but I can honestly say #2 is my least favorite and #12 is most favorite. Thank you so much for facilitating this very fun event, it has been a wonderful distraction from everyday life.
This is a second comment as I was mixed up on the first entry. I said number 11 but I was thinking about a block in another project. Sorry! My favorite block in the silver lining sew along is number 7 and 8. They are the most challenging. I need to work on matching corners.
I loved all the blocks but my favorite has to be ” climbing the mountain”. This block semi d’s me of all the struggles in life and the sincere desire to overcome them. I loved this sew along and all the comradery of the group. Thank you Jacquelyn Steve’s for this opportunity.
I loved block twelve, star blocks have been one of my favorites.
I loved all the blocks but #8 was my favorite. This was my very first quilting project and the bug has definitely bitten me.
I enjoyed all the blocks, but the fun patterns got me inspired to embroider again! Can’t wait to make my mom a table runner from the embroidery blocks.
Love “Don’t worry be happy” Just the name during this pandemic makes it the best block. I also was really hppy that you gave us some embroidery blocks. Thanks.
I have really enjoyed this sew along. Some of the blocks were very easy and a few were very challenging. My favorite block and the one that was the hardest for me was number 11. Getting all those corners to match was a challenge to me and I believe we all need a challenge once in a while. Thank you for all your work in putting this together.
I liked the climbing the mountain block. I am new to all the quilting and have tried the triangles and block #11 looks like a fun one to try. It would have a nice space to add some embroidery to also.
Block #5 – Don’t Worry, Be Happy – Pinwheel blocks are so fun! It’s message has helped me stay positive during the pandemic quilt along.
I liked #2 block the best because it was simple to cut out sew and showed off the different fabrics nicely. Enjoyed this project and group!
With the pandemic all over the world, this project united us in such a way that one looked forward to Mondays.. A real silverlining to life at the moment. I do like each one of the blocks… It is my chance to get to know a simple yet new way of doing something I always want to do. Thank you very much Jacqueline. It indeed was my silverlining. Be blessed. Anne
Thank you for allowing so many of us to join in on a sew along. It was my first, but will not be my last. My fav block was #8. It highlighted my fabric best and I’m excited to use it in many other fabrics
My favorite was the joy block I love that I could appliqué it instead of doing embroidery and the bright colors I used made it joyous
I’m new to quilting so my favorite one was # 9 because I had not done this before and it was the most difficult. And I got it to come out perfect. After a few practice true.
As a new quilter I have learned so much from the Silver Linings sew along in addition to meeting so many encouraging people in this group. If I had to pick a favorite it would be #10…Looking up and moving forward…which is what I plan to do. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!
My favorite was block #9, All Roads Lead Home! It sounds so promising! This see along has been a dream! I’ve loved it, and, felt so much encouragement from all!
This was a very fun project. I learned so many new ways to make quilt blocks. My favorite was #11, because I have never seen this technique. Thank you for everything.
Block 4 Every day is a gift.
Even when days have been difficult; each day is indeed a gift. This block will remind me of this as I make and place it in the small quilt.
Thank you for the blocks and the uplifting sayings.
#11, Climbing the mountain, even though I really have enjoyed all of them. I like how it blends together.
Although block 12 was a challenge and I messed up a lot, I love how intricate the pattern looks when finished. I’ve really enjoyed learning how to do all the blocks!! Thank you from another Jacqueline!
The most challenging block for me was 5. So that would be my favorite. Taught me I still need to re ad carefully. The embroidery gave me the most joy. Picking up something I haven’t done for years.
Block 12 was my favorite. Stars are my favorite to make!
I liked #5 the best since it MADE me practice my points coming together!!
I really liked Block #9, All Roads Lead Home! But I really liked all of them and looked forward to a new one each week. Sorry to see it end.
I like all the squares, I have not been doing sew along due to work schedule and surgery. But I have enjoyed watching all the squares. And love the wall hanging.
I liked number one. It gave me courage that I can do this and to look forward to the others. Thank you.
This has been a fun project, I enjoyed all the piecing blocks, but had fun with the embroidery ones too. The last one , I choose joy is my favourite.
I really like block #4 best. It went together nicely. Really enjoyed all of them. Especially since this was the first time I tried a block following.
The embroidery block “joy”. I think that block reminds us to have joy in our circumstances
I like #6 Beacon of Hope, because it was mid point of the Silver Linings Journey and a turning point for me with sharp quilt points.
I like block 5 because I think any kind of pinwheel is sew cute!
I like block #8 “Into the Unknown” It seems like that is fitting for right
now because every day things are changing in the world right now and we do not know what is going to happen. Hopefully things will get better for everyone soon.
Thank you for the sew along I have enjoyed all the blocks.
Block 8-Into the Unknown was my favorite. For me, this project was all about the ideas behind the blocks. The future is always uncertain, now more than ever. These blocks were truly helpful in reminding me to look for the silver lining. I am thinking about a way to incorporate the names into the quilt somehow, perhaps in the label.
I like block 11 probably because it was easy and it came out the closest to perfect! Also it shows off the fabric design. This is my
very first sew-along and it’s been so much. fun. I’m new to embroidery and my blocks aren’t great but they’re improving.
Block 9, ‘All Roads Lead Home’ is my favorite. When my husband was serving in the Air Force and we were so far away from our families. We always knew we could always find a road back home.
Thank you for this Silver Linings Sew Along! I truly enjoyed participating.
It gave me something to look forward to each week and take my mind off current events for a while.
Truly a God send!
I haven’t sewed for many years.
Thought I would join your sew-along. I am moving slow but that is ok. Block #1 is my first & favorite. Thank you for reopening the world of sewing for me.
I liked the ‘Joy’ embroidery block. Just a reminder to find joy in every day. Whether it be the sunshine or a rain storm, the lake/beach or the comfort of your home.
I love all of this. Such good resources, too!!
I liked Into the Unknown because it came out on my birthday. I doubled all the sizes so we ended up with 12″ blocks. My girls are making these as their first forays into quilting.
I loved the embroidery blocks! I especially like the Today, I choose Joy. These past few months have been hard but we must choose joy, even in the littlest things, sew we can spread joy. Encourage each other, be thankful for knowing how to quilt and embroider and being able to share this talent with others , young or “seasoned” the joy they discover will come back to you tenfold. I’m a retired home-ec. teacher and the greatest joy for me was seeing their accomplishments, and the look of pride on their faces. Find joy in the littlest things and you will be a happier person, the decision is always ours to make. Thanks for the journey!
Thank you for this sew along! It was a lot of fun, especially seeing everyones blocks. What a difference fabric choice can make. I like the Dancing in the Rain bonus block the best. Reminds me to enjoy life no matter what. I’ll be making a wall hanging with all of the blocks as inspiration to always look for the silver-linings!
Block # 6 is my favorite because without that “Beacon Of Hope” there is only darkness and there is truly enough of that in the world today.
My favorite is block 12 as I love stars and like the way the colors go into the star.
I like block 11. I haven’t been able to make it yet, as I broke my hand. But it will be used in future baby quilts I make, along with some of the other block designs.
I like #12 but probably my favorite is the bonus blocks love to embroidery
I love#12, The perfect star. Haven’t made it yet. Thank you for this sew along. The blocks are great, the encouraging words each week, and a new group of friendly, caring, helpful and fun quilting friends.
It’s so fun that there are prizes at the end. Makes me feel like I’m at camp, when camps are closed. Thank you so very much
I loved blocked number 1 because it started me on the journey to make my first quilt!
I’ve loved this sew along-just enough challenge and most of all doable during this stressful time. So block #3 is my favorite as it allowed me to display a complete image from Tula Pink. Just so fun!
I like block #5, because through this sew along journey I was able to put away worry for a bit each day and be happy! also love the embroidery- the cloud was my favorite , gotta love a silver lining!
Of all the Silver Linings Blocks, I have liked #11 the best. I loved the way you had the strips of fabric go together. I had always been one to cut each shape and fit them, (sometimes being so frustrated when they didn’t fit as nicely as I expected)…and having the strips and then trimming off the small excess was sooooooo much easier. I made three blocks and LOVE them all!!
# 12 is my favorite. Unity. Because if we want to solve anything we have to be united. Whether it be our family, church, job, community, or whatever we do,
I’m Sue
I like block #8 “Climbing the Mountain”. I struggled with fabric choices but, for whatever reason, this one came together easily for me and thus is my favorite.
Apart from that, I found some very helpful sewing partners in this group and it became a happy place for me
I loved all of the embroidery patterns. If I had to choose one it would be “Dance in the rain” or “Joy”. I used to embroider lots, but kinda got away from it. The Silver Linings embroidery helped me remember how much I love embroidery.
Jacquelynne thank you so much for this fun & easy project. You are a creative woman!
I like block 9 as it taught me how to use triangles. I like all of the blocks. I have truly learned a lot.
Thank you it was a lot of fun.
While I loved making each and every block, my favorite is #12. I just learned how to make half square triangles and stars this year so I was excited to see my favorite star in the Silver Linings Blocks! Thank you so much for this inspirational sew along!
I have enjoyed all of them but I think the one I like the most is the one I had the most trouble with…Block 5..Don’t Worry, Be Happy. It challenged me and that was good. It has several meanings to me during this time of challenge.
Thank you so much for having this for us.
If I had to pick a favorite, it would be #8. Looks very intricate when actually it’s just somewhat tedious than difficult. This has been an incredibly generous project you have shared. Thank you.
I like #3 as I can find a center fabric design to make it pop with design or bold colors. Easy to make and a beginner love the different designs to learn.
Block number 5 was my favorite. I LOVE the pinwheel block. First, I like to sew half square triangles. They are easy and you and do so many things with them. The pinwheel is a happy block. It reminds me of my childhood. I used to love to make and buys pinwheels. Thanks for this project. It made Mondays fun!
I love block # 5. I like the pinwheel because you can use complimentary fabrics that can make it pop with color. It also reminds me of pinwheels I played with in the summer as a child.
I have enjoyed all of the blocks. I am hoping you will offer another Sew A Long . Loved the simplicity…it was something to look forward to every week during these trying times. Thank you for all of your time & hard work presenting this to us. ?
I have truly loved them all. I think #12 is special because we have connected all over the world with women praising and encouraging each other . I think by staying united we can conquer this virus and anything else . Thank you for for this opportunity to learn and create in a time of stress . I never felt alone when I could look at what my “ Silver Linings “ sisters posted❤️.
Oh, I love the bonus wall hanging Somewhere Over the Rainbow! As a young girl, my sister and our two girl cousins (also sisters) were in love with this song. I fondly remember singing it together as we walked and played. This block is the reason I decided to join this sew-along. I love the details in the embroidery and the memories it brings. I plan to make four of this block and gift them to my cousins and my sister (and of course keep one for myself?). We are all in our seventies.
I’ve learned so much with this sew along. I never thought that scrappy quilts (I haven’t made one) would be pretty. My favorite is one that was scrappy. I love all the blocks but 11 is my favorite. Please don’t forget me if you offer another sew along in the future.
I love❤️ The somewhere over the rainbow block – can’t wait to finish mine ! Never thought I’d love embroidery again so relaxing?
Love #5 “Don’t worry, Be happy” since I recently retired. Will follow this motto!
#1 is my favorite block because it’s a classic block, but more importantly because of the message you attached to it. Trust the Journey”. I find myself saying these words many times throughout the day and it helps me get through difficult/stressful situations. Once I can settle down after saying these words I can move forward again. When I finish the task I will look back and reaffirm … see all you have to do is “trust the journey “. I loved all the blocks but this one has a very powerful message for me!
I am new to quitting, have so much fun learning to make the blocks. Am sad to see it over.
All the blocks were awesome. I had my difficulties with each block. There is no way I can choose 1 block to be my favorite, because I liked them all.
I like block #8 best. I fussy cut the center square and like the movement created by the surrounding fabrics.
I enjoyed making the #12 block due to never making a block in that style. I’m looking forward to receiving the instructions to complete the project next week, and seeing the finished product.
Thank you for hosting this free sew along.
B/c I can’t find a button to “comment” I hit “reply” to the 1st persons comment in hopes that this will qualify as a comment???
All the blocks are just darling but I particularly like the bonus log cabin block that lets you frame one of the adorable embroidery bonus blocks…i just ? all the sweet embroidery blocks you designed & am eager to start stitching them. Thank so much for so generously giving us the gift of Silver Linings Sew Along. (Please let me know how else to post this comment if this isn’t within your guidelines. Thanks)
I really enjoyed the “Beacon of Hope” number 6. They were all fun and inspiring . I did mine in blue batiks and reminded myself that blue skies are always coming and there truly are silver linings in every circumstance if we just look for them. Thank yo Jacquelynne. It has been fun!
I loved block 12 the best.. Incorporated lots of things I had learned.. I really enjoyed this sew along and meeting new friends this was truly a great idea. Thank you jacquelynne..
My favorite block was #12 because I love making stars! This was a fun group to be a part of. Thanks!!
My favorite block was #5. I needed a little help figuring out how to trim it correctly, but in the end it came out looking very nice. That is why it was my favorite–i learned from it and was happy with the results. “Don’t worry, be happy.”
My favorite block is the over the rainbow block. I think all of the embroidery patterns add a unique aspect to this quilt. That is my favorite, although I like all of those embroidery blocks.
I like block #12. It is where we are today! I downloaded it this morning and will make it today. Plan on displaying somewhere in my home. And make one for our Guild (who are not meeting at this time, but still in contact) for our Christmas tree prize give away, with all hand made items under the tree, and ornaments on the tree. Amazing gifts, alot of talented women. I want to win, maybe this year. All monies go to charity. Thank you!
I really like #10. It will help me with future flying geese quilts. Also, like it because it was challenging.
I love number #8 . I don’t recall doing some of these block patterns. Looks like a fun pattern. xo
I like number 11 uses larger pieces a d showcases my fabric.
I think my favorite is #8 although I like all the blocks and the embroidery.
I love the Singing in the Rain fabrics! They are so bright and cheerful. Staying home during the pandemic feels like the longest rainy day. This fabric would be a reminder that rain is welcome (especially in Arizona where I live) and rain brings rainbow promises.
Loved the blocks and and up to date.
This was a fun sew along. My favorite block is #11 Climbing the Mountain. Quite frankly, I had never seen this block before, so I learned something new and was challenged to put the fabric patterns together in an attractive way.
sandyrader@juno.com
My favorite block is #12 Unity Star. Its a culmination of a wonderful project and seeing all posts kind of united us in a project. Thank you for this wonderful project.
I have enjoyed all the quilt blocks and my first sew along. Some of the blocks were new to me and some old friends.
I think #12 is my favorite block. It reminds me of a beautiful sunflower.
My favorite is block #2, because it makes me think of intersections. So many things in my life feel like they are coming together for the shortest instant before going off in their own directions. I need this visible reminder that things will line up again
Block 11 – Climb every mountain. We are all trying to climb this mountain one step at a time. It was easy to assemble hence the climb can be easy.
I like them all but #12 is probably my favorite. I don’t think I have ever sewn this block, so I learned a new one.
I have enjoyed this ‘first for me” sew along.
I love this sew along. It’s fu. To do something “together
‘ during this stressful time. I think my favorite block is #11. I’m looking forward to completing this quilt to donate to Project Linus for kids in crisis.
Thank you for this fun quilting adventure!
Of the blocks I have made #6 Beacon of hope is my favorite BUT #12 Unity star would be if I had made it yet ?
Jacquelynne – this was such a fun project and I agree with everyone on how much fun it was to anticipate the new block! If I have to pick a favorite it’s #6. When I was digging through my stash I decided to add green to each block since green is my granddaughter’s favorite color (for the moment)! I’ve always been told that ALL greens match. I love hand work so I really appreciated the embroidery blocks. I’m trying to decide if I incorporate those into the quilt or make another project. Decisions, decisions…
I love the moving forward block. Is fairly easy to make and provided the opportunity to display fabrics with large or small prints. I have used it with stripes and it’s marvelous the sub blocks that are formed. I have learned through the sew along and have invited friends to join.
I liked block # 10.
I’ve never tried flying geese
This sew a long gave me the encouragement and courage to move on and forward to finally take a step forward and make my first flying geese.
My Grandmother was great at making them.
My favorite block was the flying goose. I am very new to quilting and this block was very intimidating. You made it easy and fun! Thank you for this project. I have learned so much!
I forgot to add my email

Sorry!
I have loved, loved, loved this time with Silver Linings. It came at a time when the world was going crazy. I hadn’t been able to see my grandchildren or my extended family, a person at work died so everyone was panicking. The Silver Linings has been something I looked forward to every week as my “Silver Lining”. My favorite block, if I have to pick one, is #9 All Roads Lead Home. It reminds me that I can still talk to family and visit as I can.
I love block 5 love pinwheels
My Favorite blocks were the churndash and the flying geese. Mostly because I had never made either before and you made them so easy to do. Thanks for the great quilt a long
I liked block 5 best. I’m a new quilter and your instructions are so easy to follow. I enjoy getting my points to meet exactly. I hope you will do something like this again soon.
I love several of the blocks. I’m not a hst person. But I enjoyed the challenge of each of them. I have to say I really like the embroidery blocks. My favorites are blocks 2,3,4 and 8. I like the way my fabric showed them off.
This was my first sew-along – SO much fun! I loved seeing all the shared work.
My favorite block was “Into the Unknown.” I made several playing with color. It was interesting how the same block looked so different when values were switched.
I hope we do another sequel along soon.

I am a new (senior) quilter. Block number 11 is one of my favorites. I like the clean lines and the ability to create interesting patterns. I am looking forward to using this block for a bed runner. Thank you so much for this educational quilt along.
I like block number 8 the best….it reminds me of a churn dash block!
dfulbright8@gmail.com
I enjoyed block five the most. I had never attempted a pinwheel and mine was pretty good, not perfect but still good.
My favorite was #4 Every day is a gift.
I was recently reminded of that due to my mom’s health.
And it was interesting working with such small pieces. I don’t usually do that.
I enjoyed block 5 the pinwheel. I love pinwheels they make me smile and I find I use happy color fabrics when I make them. I imagine them spinning away negative energy and bringing in positive energy.
THANK YOU, this is a learning project fir me. I wanted to learn basics of making blocks. How to piece together then sew them. I made several practice blocks so could learn to make them correctly. My favorite block is blocks #6, 7, 11, 12 I learned from each one.
I look forward to doing another quilt along with you. Thanks you again.
“Don’t Worry be Happy,” # 5 was a fun block and the name was a reminder of letting things go. I love this quilt along. Easy to stay caught up and every week a fun surprise.
Keep the quilt alongs coming.
Thanks for the journey
Lezlie
I have a thing for stars, so block 12 is by favorite.
avwaldo@msn.com
I liked Dance in the Rain the most of all the embroidery blocks. It brought back memories of old Broadway play Dancing in the Rain with Fred Astaire
I liked the churn dash bock – block 8 into the unknown – although mine did not turn out well, not enough contrast – or too much pattern? It haas been fun to make all these traditional blocks! I did the first bonus embroidery, and used that as inspiration for a fall quilt I was making, and then embellished a stack of face masks I was making for the upcoming school year – so I did’t make the other bonus blocks but did a whole bunch of embroidering that I wouldn’t have otherwise thought to do.
I loved them all! One of my fav projects I ever worked on. Besides the embroidery blocks, If I have to pick I’ll pick #5. Because I’ve never done a pinwheel. Thank you so much.
I liked number 12 block! It is so pretty. This has been fun and I enjoyed looking at everyone’s blocks. It gave me a great perspective on different colors that I normally would never have tried.
I loved block #2 “All Things are Possible” because I truly believe that to be a very positive attitude to have. I am using that block pattern to make another quilt! I think I have improved my sewing skills from participating in this quilt along and hope to join in on another one in the future.
I like #4 because every day is a gift and it’s a great opportunity to do some fussy cutting.
Loved this sew along it was small & manageable & taught me new skills. (Accurate seam allowances) My favorite was #2 because I have always wanted to do a log cabin type quilt. These blocks will become a baby quilt for my new grandchildren.
I like the entire sew along So fun to do
I loved #5 don’t worry be happy
I love block 12, The Unity Block. It reminds me that without unity this pandemic will never be gone. This group brings a positive unity that is much needed. Thanks!
My favorite is number 12 although I really like all of them and the fun it was doing these, now to put them all together ❤
Even though it was probably the most challenging for me, I really like #12 the most.
Thanks so much for this fun sew a long. It has kept my mind off of all the “stuff ” going on in our world today.
This has been such a fun project. The final block, unity star, really puts it all together with squares and hst
I liked #12 best, I was so happy with the way it came out! The sew-along was such an uplifting and positive experience! My email is rondascrapbasket@gmail.com Thank you so very much for a great time!
I have really enjoyed your posts and plan to include the embroidery blocks in my quilt. My favorite is #9, I really like making half square triangles.
#11 I love the way it looks. Also while putting it together you can’t see the pattern til you trim it up. Such an easy block. Would like to make a whole quilt with this pattern .Thanks
Every cloud has a silver lining embroidery block is my favorite block. My friend /coworker always says this phrase and smiles no matter what is going on.
I liked #11 the best i thought it was a fun block with a cool name. I also enjoyed the over the rainbow embroidery which was something i had never done before
I loved #11 climbing the mountain because the shapes were different and required different cuts
I liked block 5 the most, it made me think of a pinwheel spinning around in the sun.
Thank you for a wonderful project!!!!!!!! I love the embroidery blocks. I have not started on this project but have downloaded all patterns. This is my winter project when it starts to get cold here in North Dakota!!!!! Hopefully not for a few months!!!!!! Thank you again!!
#3, being from Arizona we done see much rain! I love anything to do with Rain ☔️
My favorite was climbing the mountain but I think I found the last one to be most challenging. Each block helped to either build my skills or revisit some skills. Have really started to enjoy embroidery again and had no clue I could use crayons or colored pencils and that has opened a whole new door. This was my first quilt along and I hope you will offer more. I also enjoyed the quotes and found them inspirational in a time when I think we can all use more words of kindness.
My favorite patterns are all of them. This is the first time I have been involved in a quilt project I don’t usually sew that much in the summer but been doing a lot of masks for my daughter at for work to fit her work. So I have not finished the last half so far and have not started the embroidery have purchased thread some but have not started trying to do the embroidery yet can’t wait to start. I also love the different shapes and patterns you have used for the squares I’m not that great at the flying geese or triangle pieces but I feel I am getting better for this project. Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of all of this it is fun and informative and the people with the comments are very nice courteous and helpful. I have had trouble with other sites with unsolicited remarks. Thank you again and whoever wins congratulations. If you need one single block for this contest I will say the umbrella it reminds me of the movie singing in the rain one of my all-time favorites with Gene Kelly.
All of them. I have not quilted in a long time. So, it was a great chance for me to practice my cutting and sewing skills. Really enjoyed.
Thank you.
I love stars, so my favorite block is #12.
I enjoyed all the blocks in this sew along but #11 Climbing the mountain is my favorite. I’ve never made a block like this before and appreciated the simplicity and magic of this block.
I am new to your following your blog! I enjoyed the progression of the blocks. It was fun watching the color and pattern play unfold as the blocks developed. I enjoyed #12 as the fabric combinations were most engaging. Thank you for developing and sharing this project. I look forward to following your blog.
I liked all of them , but my favorite is block 9 I liked the pinwheel aspect of it, which I didn’t see until the block was finished.
I liked the second block best. I’m partial to log cabin blocks. I’ll be making hot pads/cup mats with this block for holiday gifts as soon as my Silver Linings quilt is done. This sew along has been great fun! Thank you!
Loved viewing the blocks that were posted and getting ideas for a friend new to quilting.
I especially like block # 10. Looking up & Moving Forward. Not only do I like triangles but I try & live every day ” Looking up & moving forward !
I loved the whole project but I chose # 9 All Roads Lead Home as my favorite,,,no matter where you are there is always a road to take you home,,,and we all know the words of Dorothy of the Wizard of Oz ,,,There’s No Place Like Home.
Block #8 was my favorite to make. It challenged me with color placement and accurate piecing; and I loved the way it turned out. This was my first sew-along and I truly enjoyed connecting with everyone! Thanks Jacquelynne!
I like #9 All Roads Lead Home. The center square can be fussy cut to showcase any print but wouldn’t a little house be cute.
I liked Block #8 the best. Thanks for doing this free SAL!
I liked #7 “Today & Tomorrow”. I think it is a very striking block especially with the patriotic colors that I chose. This was such a fun project to do during these times of our turmoiled lives. Looked forward to each week seeing what the new pattern would be. Thank you for doing this.
I loved ‘Coming Home’. During COVID we have been so isolated from our (adult) kids who all live north while we live in Texas. So… we have just purchased a home back in the snow belt to be able to have regular gathering times again. We and our kids and grand kids are so excited that we are ‘coming home’.
I liked #12 the best…but it was really hard to pick a favorite. I love stars in my quilts…plus the name Unity Star was perfect! Thank you for a wonderful sew along!
I loved all the blocks! I am a beginner so each block was a new challenge for me. I loved learning all the new techniques. I especially liked block 12. It seemed to be so complicated when you looked at it, yet with the instructions it was easy to do and turned out to be stunning.
I like #3 best. I wanted to do another set of blocks to make a bigger quilt.
My fav is #12 the Unity Star. I like the looks of it, and as a newbie by the time I got to 12, my confidence grew. Plus my name is Star, so I have an affinity for stars! ⭐️
I was totally moved by Block 5. Always look ahead with hope. The words of wisdom you shared from Corrie Ten Boom and the Serenity Prayer spoke to my heart during this time of the unknown. I am so blessed God put me with you and our wonderful community of quilters!
My favorite block? That’s hard! The rainbow is my favorite embroidery block. The mountain is my favorite pieces block. I can’t wait to put everything thing together ☺️
Unity star is my fave
Block 11 because It was one I had never seen before and so different from the rest, which are also beautiful?
I liked #9 with the squares and triangles. Using my patriotic theme it really made a nice looking block. This project has been so much fun. I am going to try my hand with the embroidery patterns. Have not done this before
evieh562@gmail.com
It really is hard to chose. I like 9 All roads lead home. Easy block with couple of triangles.
We are travelers but always like coming home to see family.
Thank you so much for this time to reflex on happy things.
I liked #5 the best. It made me really focus on point.
My favorite was the “Somewhere of the Rainbow” embroidery block. I love Judy and Wizard is Oz stuff. Rainbows are always my favorite and it was when covid-19 was still fresh and I felt uplifted and excited about this whole project when making it ❤
I enjoyed sewing block #12. I loved the look of the star so much, that I made another. As my blocks are totally made of scraps, I will have a very scrappy quilt. I’ve totally enjoyed making the variety of blocks, since I’m a beginner quilter.
I really enjoyed doing this quilt, I learned a lot and dont really have a favorite. I liked block 12 that challenged me.
I can find a way to make a new comment so hopefully replying to the first person on the comments will count.
I LOVED the Embroidery blocks. I really like incorporating embroidery into my quilts!
I like the idea of #9 All Roads Lead to Home. I used the same colors in the same order throughout, so I’m excited to see what kind of arrangement I can come up with. I also was happy to get into hand embroidery again
Thank you so much for the Silver Linings sew along. I enjoyed #12 block very much. I do love stars and liked the lay out. I know you have worked hard to put this together and I have looked forward to each pattern. Warm hugs ?. Dona
My favorite block is #12, The Unity Star, because the star’s edge never ends, the block in the center is everyone, which reminds me that we are together no matter what. We are the star that continues to shine. This was my first time doing a sew along. I really enjoyed everyone sharing their blocks as they made each one.
This has been a wonderful sew along. Loved all the blocks and their names. My favorite is #8. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent. This has been a light in my days during the Pandemic.
I am partial to Block #5, Don’t Worry, Be Happy….I love windmill blocks they are fun and challenging with the points! The title is one I have used to encourage my two sons that are in the Navy and when they have been deployed there were times that I told them “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” to lift their spirits and I would play or sing the song for them, and they would always give me a laugh and tell me they would be alright.
I really liked the whole project, even though I am very far behind. I liked the combination of the pieced blocks and embroidery. I especially liked the fact that you name each block with a phrase or title that relates to the theme of the Silver Lining of the Cloud. And on top of it, you shared quotes and personal thoughts that were very up lighting to me. “My favorite block” besides all of the embroidery is #10. Looking up and move forward. I am moving myself and my Mom’s home and it’s been very difficult for me to do. My parents have both passed away, my Mom most recently, and she was the quilter in my life. We shared this love together. I miss her greatly. Thank you for this series. Kathy Robinson
I hope this time I did this right, I didn’t get it in the right place before. :)
#12 Unity Star. This sew along is great! And the first time I tried embroidery. I am using the blocks, embroidered blocks and appliqued blocks. Sew fun!!! Thank you.
I enjoyed seeing everyone’s blocks. Thank you Jacquelynne for these blocks. I enjoyed this sew along alot. I liked the “Unity Star” block and what it represents.
Block 2 all things are possible and block 4 every day is a gift. I was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis which is an incurable disease. I was blessed to receive a single lung transplant so every day is truly a gift! This sew along has rekindled my love of quilting, something I had to discard many years ago. Thank you for restoring the joy of fabric and colors in my life.
I enjoyed this project & love every block. If I have to pick one, it will be Block 10, looking up & moving forward, along with embroidery pattern, I Choose Joy. I had to move from a place I loved, to a place I didn’t like. After being miserable for 6 months, I decided to look up & move forward, choosing joy each day!
My favorite block is #5. I have always loved the pinwheel block though I have made very few. Need to make lots more of them.
I really enjoyed this sew along. It is the first mystery sew along I have done. It has truly been something to look forward to every week. In this crazy world we are in right now I needed this to get me through. My favorite pieced block is the unity star. I have never done this block before. I found it a fun challenge. My favorite embroidery block was the Today I choose Joy. We all needed the reminder that we can have the mindset to choose to be joyful and happy. Thank you for doing this sew along.
I love block 12. Have always enjoyed that design. When I was teaching I had my students make the design with Christmas wrapping paper. Now when I look at the block it gives me beautiful memories of them and now. I also enjoyed the uplifting comments that came with each new block.
My favorite block is block number 5, Don’t worry, be happy. ” I have never made the pinwheel design before. Plan to make a big pinwheel quilt in the future.
I liked Climbing the mou tain the best. It was different t from the others and I had not seen this particular block before.
I enjoyed piecing all the blocks, but the embroidery rainbow was my favorite. I learned embroidery as a child from my mom but let it lapse. I found your blocks inspiring and not intimidating for me just getting back into it. Also it was a much better activity while sitting with my husband in front of the TV than playing games or flipping through electronic devices#
Ink my favorite is # 5. However, I used to do more hand embroidery before arthritis, so those extra blocks have a special place in my heart ❤️!
Ruth-crum@sbcglobal.net
I love the embroidered blocks, possibly the umbrella one. Have loved seeing everyone’s take on the blocks, some with appliqué, some colored, and some embroidered.
#11 is my favorite block. I’am going to make a Disney quilt for my niece to take to Disney land for signatures.
I like block #12 the best. It was a difficult block for me but I still loked it the best. My email is storedork@comcast.net. thank you for the Sew Along. It is going to make a great quilt for my granddaughter.
I enjoyed all the blocks and they were very helpful to practice basic skills I pick #12 Unity Star as my favorite. Maybe I finally got a grasp on my colors but it really popped
Thank you for an activity to give us a break from all the chaos.
Hi I am joycedharper@sbcglobal.net. I think I entered in the right place but can’t remember. I liked all of the blocks but I like the “climbing the mountain” block best of all. Thanks for the wonderful quilt along.
I’m A newbie to quilting and I must say I loved learning to quilt all the blocks. I got better with each one I made thanks to your instructions and the great ladies who gave me so much help. Block 3 was the hardest for me and had to redo a ton of times, so I will say it was the best one. Thank you very very much for showing me a new passion in my life. It’s been along time since I felt this way again.
Love this sight.
Diane McEwen
My favorite block is number 11 because I like the way it looks when you put it together in a row to make it look like a chevron pattern.
I liked #12 the best, and the embroidery has been therapeutic. Sitting down with the family in lockdown days watching tv, this has been my best time of the day.
Thank you for a lovely sew along!!
Wow! What an amazing ‘Silver Linings’ Sew Along!! The creativity of the all of those who signed up! Hope we get to do this together again! Felt connected with others during this time of isolation!
Thank you Jacquelynn!!!!
I like prize #3. I have watched Jacquelynne’s quilt squares. I just love that fabric. It’s just darling. Every time she puts it up I just wish I had it. I would be so excited if I won it.
I’ve loved this project and looked forward to the new blocks each week. I learned many new blocks, but my favorite was the Block of Hope. Thanks for giving us something positive to focus during this time of stress!
Block 7 for the narrative, block 6 on my particular blocks for color composition
My favorite block is #9 All Roads Lead Home an I liked it first because of its name and second because it was so easy to make. A person could see why it was named that and it is so fitting with all that is going on in our lives right now.
Into the Unknown is my favorite block. I love the Frozen movies and it was the first thing I thought of when I read the title of the block. I have lots of Frozen fabric and a picture of the sisters fit perfectly in the middle. I was also able to incorporate my love of ladybugs into my block with all my favorite colors as well. To me, this block ended up being the best one put together in color scheme. I love it! My white husky, Elsa, also approved! Thank you so much for this journey!
I think i have to pick block #1 as my favorite. It was the first quilt block I had ever made and it was so easy to follow the instructions that I got hooked immediately. A hobby that combines my love for creative crafting AND my nerdy, meticulous, follow the plan sides of me. Without the quick success of that first block, I don’t know if I would have continued this journey….and I would have missed out on so much more than just piecing my first quilt!
great sew along
I like the embroidery blocks the best as I did embroidery as a child and it is what makes me feel connected to the past and all the stitchers in our country’s history. I learned a lot about machine piecing and so enjoyed feeling like I was a member of a community!
I like the bonus block the best because I had been planning on doing a quilt with the offsets log cabin so it came at the perfect time for me.
Block #6 Beacon of Hope.
I like the structure of the pattern.
The fabrics used are gorgeous!
The sew-along came at a perfect time. Even though I started late it was easy to catch up because it was fun. And, I made at least two of each block. Favorites I made extras. You pushed me to try the Flying Geese in block. And they are not scarey at all?. My favorite is block 8 “Into the Unknown”. Though there are several other favorite contenders. And block 12 will be at the top too. I loved your comments and quotes with each block. You have my thanks for your talent and sharing your thoughts with us. Bless you and yours. Be safe.
I loved block #9, all roads lead home, the best. I grew up in Minnesota, but spent my adult life in Texas due to my job. Every chance I got, I would go home to visit my mom and my wonderful family. Every summer, until my children graduated from high school, we piled into our van and made the trek to visit grandma. Memories we will never forget!
I enjoyed all the blocks,it really brought me back to basics, been quilting for a long time but this was so fun.I enjoy the embroidered blocks…but if I had to choose 1 block it would be the last one, because I love doing stars!
As a beginner quilter I have thoroughly appreciated the Silver Linings Sew along. Block six took me a while to get right but it is the one with a start and heart on the printed instructions. However, my next quilt will be the pinwheel pattern as that was the illusive pattern in my mind. Now it is ‘easy’. Thank you.
I have to say Block # 8 “Into The Unknown” It not only speaks of the times we are going through now but reminds me of the book series “Bregdan Cronicles ….a civil war historical fiction. One of the series was “Into The Unknown”. The heroin was brave and continued with HOPE throuhgh the series, as did I through the series of blocks.Cant wait to assemble it all.
I LOVE the don’t worry be happy block! I just love pinwheels!!
My favorite is #5, Don’t Worry, Be Happy. I like the two fabrics I chose to make this block
My favorite was the sun embroidery, Be the Light. I haven’t done embroidery since I was a teenager. I loved the calm of sitting and just sewing away. We also need to be the light to others in this confusing time.??
I admit I’m a little behind on the blocks, but block 4 – every day is a gift – has been my favorite and most frustrating so far. I am learning sew much doing this project!
Unity, number 12, is my favorite. Challenging triangles, but so pretty when they all come together, just like life, it is so beautiful when all our differences come together. This was a great experience. It gave me something to look forward to and I am planning to make a second one for a friend who just got engaged. Her post was too fitting; they announced their engagement as “The silver lining”. She is a performer in NYC, (you know the challenges she has there with no shows to perform in.) so all the embroidered song references will be perfect for them. Her favorite song is Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Now I’m pumped for making one for her. I’m hoping to do hers in Bev’s “Singing in the Rain” fabric, and making it a nice size for them to snuggle under. Thank you for the fun!
I loved all the blocks and can’t wait to get started on number 12 . I will have a quilt to remember our difficult year . Thank You ! for providing this fun project . Joan White
My favorite block is number 11. I plan to use it to make baby quilts for our local hospital. I like the block because it can showcase a favorite fabric and you can make so many different quilts simply by turning the blocks. Thanks for this sew along. I really needed it!
Climbing the Mountain is what I seem to be doing right now, and it’s going to be ok.
I love block number nine. All roads lead to home! I think I’m going to make a quilt with just this block!! Thankyou for this sew along. I have enjoyed looking at everyone’s blocks. Sew beautiful!!!
I had fun learning all of these blocks. I think bock 5 pinwheels were my favorite simply because I had never done them before and liked how mine turned out. However, block 11 was super fun and I may do a whole quilt out of that block. This has been a great stash buster project and a wonderful encouragement during this uncertain time.
Block #4, “Every Day is a Gift!” was a favorite. Thank you for providing an opportunity to remember our blessings every day!
I loved number 11, “climbing the mountain”. Maybe because it’s the only block that is perfect since you cut it to 6.5*6.5!
My favorite is Block 5, Don’t Worry, Be Happy. I’m a new quilter and these were my first pinwheels, challenging but instructions were great, I love making those points meet! Plus people in the group were encouraging with helpful hints. I have enough “practice” pinwheels for a doll quilt! Plus the 8 for my Silver Lining project! I made 2 of each block in 4 colorways. Thanks Jacquelynne for a wonderful project.
Block #4, “Every Day is a Gift!” was a favorite. Thank you for providing an opportunity to remember our blessings every day!
#7 and 8…I know, pick 1…I like them both. Like HST and a fussy cut in the middle. Thank you for the fun!
My favorite is block #12. I love stars ⭐️.
Hard to choose a favorite. I really enjoyed the hand embroidery bonuses. They reminded me of how much I enjoyed hand work. I guess I would say Block 10, Looking Up and Moving Forward it my favorite. I liked the technique for perky geese! Thank you for this sew along. I really enjoyed it!! This is the first quilt along I actually stayed current with.
10…. looking up…. AND moving forward….. both of which I have to keep reminding myself to do. Our family quilter passed in Dec and did NOT pass quilts down to her children. My brother was very disappointed and so I decided to make him this as a lap quilt. Mother always hated any combination of material that I liked and thanks to all of you, I am now confident in what I am doing!
Wow, what a tough decision. Each block was a new experience for me, some fun, some challenging, some frustrating! But all made me sit down, take my time to choose fabrics and colors, measure, cut, LEARN, and create. I utilized your site often to seek advice, give praise and opinions, and basically just enjoy and share with the wonderful people that you’ve managed to bring together in this group. SO, all that being said, I will say that Block 1Trust the Journey was my favorite because that is where this journey all began. Thank you Jacquelynne.
I liked the rainbow embroidery. My bff is making the silver lining blocks and I’m doing the embroidery blocks for a quilt to donate.
My favourite is block number 6 “Beacon of hope”. That’s what this whole quilt and our life’s right now is all about. We must have hope, a beacon of hope. On a personal note, my husband was diagnosed with cancer, so I have to have hope!
I love them all, so it’s difficult to choose! But I think I am going to like #12 the best, it looks like a lot of fun!
Hi,
I liked block 9, all roads lead home. Because home is so important.
Thanks for the free sew along.
I liked block #1 as I am a beginner. I’m behind as I am unable to get fabrics in my area. I have enjoyed this and hope to finish my quilt soon. Thank you.
I liked block #8 best. It reminded me of a quilt my grandmother made in the early 1900s that was on my bed when I was growing up. Happy memories.
#12 is my favorite block.
I like block 12…. I know partially because of the name .. Unity… since we are all in this together and are finding comfort in our quilting…I like the Star with its many pieces( just like us— many but making up one community) but these pieces come together united as a star… a star is so far away but we all can see it and admire it.
A big thank you Jacquelynne for making up this quilt for us to make together… I looked forward to getting it every Monday… but have also enjoyed rekindling my embroidery skills… I have not done any for a long time…. thank you!!
This has been such a fun sew along! My favorite block (if I have to choose just one) would be Block 8 “Into the Unknown.” That is how I feel every time I challenge myself with learning something new related to sewing or quilting. Plus, the churndash block is always fun and by changing up the color combinations, you can create totally different looks.
My fav is block 12. There are a lot of stars at night in our area. My fav embroidery block was the sun “be the light”. Thank you for this sew along :)
My favorite block is the rainbow block. It gives hope that there’s better days ahead and everything is going to be alright. ❤️
Janewalker6314@yahoo.com
I like block #2. I am very new to making blocks and quilts. While I enjoy the more “complicated” blocks, this one is clean and simple
I’ve really enjoyed this sew-along! #7 is my favorite… mostly because my block turned out so cute!
Thank you for providing this fun pandemic project! Can’t wait for another one!
#8 is my favorite with a fussy cut pansy in the center.
I like the block with the umbrella best as that says spring to me and is a symbol of God’s protection from the storms of life.
I really didn’t have just one favorite…loved All the blocks !!! Plus this was a good opportunity to use up a lot of my scraps. I anticipated every Monday to be able to see the new block. Too bad this adventure is over. Hope for another one?!
Block 5 – I love pinwheels! And I’ve always loved the saying “don’t worry, be happy” – lol. I think #12 may become a favorite because I also love start blocks.
“Into the Unknown” – block # 8 was my favorite block. In these days of uncertainty, we need to be positive (which is what this project was all about) but we are looking ahead not sure of what the new normal will be. But I appreciated looking ahead with something so grounded as a churn dash (one of the oldest style quilt blocks). Thank you!
My favorites were the bonus embroidery blocks; they what I worked on in evenings while enjoying my porch.
My favorite block was #5, the pinwheel block. This was my first quilt-a-long and I loved it! I definitely learned a lot! Thank you to everyone. All of the comments were so helpful.
This has been such fun. Great for beginners since we went from very simple to quite complex blocks. Thanks for your generosity in presenting this.
My favorite? A toss-up between #8 Into the Unknown and #9, All Roads Lead Home.
I love block #9 All Roads Lead Home.
No matter where I go all roads will lead me home.
Home is where I’d rather be. Mrs Jacquelynne Steves
Thank you so much for The Silver Linings Sew Along
My favorite block is 11 because of it’s simplicity. It was the easiest block for me and also different.
I really enjoyed the embroidery as I’ve not done embroidery in many many years.
I loved making block #3 because I fussy cut the center block from the Anne of Green Gables fabrics I’m using. It was a fun sew along. Thanks so much for putting it together for all of us.
#8
“Into the unknown”
This is my first quilt and this one was perfect for that, it also helped me choose fabrics I never would have thought to put together. I was pleased with the outcome. Loved the support and encouragement from all involved!!
I’m struggling to choose just one as a favorite but I guess it would be block #1~ trust the journey. That’s exactly what I did and loved everything about this sew along.
I like #9…..all roads lead home. In this time, we are home and home is where the heart is.
I like block 12 because I just love star blocks! All the blocks were nice and the fabric that you used was really pretty. Thank you for doing this for everyone! I also liked all of the embroidery blocks too, especially the rainbow!
Block 5 is my favorite. I realized how simple pinwheels are, and am using the block to make an entire quilt for my granddaughter’s roommate. I even made a double size pinwheel for the center. Thanks for a simple but fun sew along…. my first ever!!!! ?
Thank you so much for this inspiring and up-lifting sew along. It has been such fun and hate to see it end. #6 is my favorite, we all need hope.
Block # 1 was my favorite, because it opened the door to the whole project, and created such excitement among the members! It made many realize, perhaps for the first time, that they could actually DO THIS! Thanks for this quarantine fun!!!
Thanks Jacqueline! For the sew along and all the positiveness in my inbox!!! My favorite block is Don’t Worry, Be Happy – one of my mottos, and I like pinwheels, but all the blocks and their names inspired joy!
I like block 11. I’m a beginner and this is my first quilt. I’m noy doing the blocks in order as some look harder then others. I’m looking forward to learning with the embroidery blocks. Thanks for putting this together and being so encouraging.
I love the last one #12 I love stars and this one is so easy with your directions.
#8 had fun fussy cutting pieces and the message…though I liked all of them. Thank you!
My favorite block is #5! DON’T worry be happy!! A good reminder at this time in our lives! Thank you!
Thanks again for all the helpful and clear instructions for the various blocks. #11 was my favorite. I’m using it for a baby blanket with machine applique
Ellen
If I can only choose one it would be Block 12.
Favorite block(s):
# 4 Everyday is a gift
#8 Into the unknown
Favorite embroidery:
#3 Dance in the rain
Loved the blocks and all the extras! Thank you!!!
I am loving and making them all. I chose fabric that is basic and will put them all together when I am done!
I have learned so much! you even the more difficult ones easy!
Block #8 was my favorite! It show cased my main topic of fabric with a cat in the center and solid small pieces to pop out the cat. I have enjoyed doing a combination of sewing and embroidery! Your ideas really set off hours of enjoyment! Thank you sew much!
I have enjoyed looking at everyone’s pictures and I have printed all patterns but because of family and elderly parent(99 years old) I have not gotten started to sew anything. I am looking forward to doing this winter season when things slow down. Sure I will miss my private instructor (mother passed away 2years ago who was sewer making our clothes, quilts, crocheted, and many other things)
Loved all of them. An easy sewalong but the let’s sing in the rain again with the umbrella is my favorite.❤❤❤
I love Block 10 because I like the theme of Looking Up and Moving Forward.
Which is what I think we need to do now. Really loved them all and doing the Sew a Long. just what I needed!
My favorite block is #6. My colors is yellow and blue & it is soooooo pretty. Gloria
All the blocks are great! It’s been very enjoyable working along with everyone one this sweet little quilt . My pick would been #7 today and tomorrow…. live for today and remember tomorrow is a gift.
Stay safe out there sew we can enjoy the gift of tomorrow together.
My favorite block is # 12, so worth the wait, stars are so cheery. Thank you for this see a long.
I like #6 Beacon of Hope. I like the arrangement of the fabrics and how they play off each other.
I love them all but I think #2 “All Things Are Possible” is my favorite! Thank you for your generous gift of patterns!
I have enjoyed this Sew/Along. All the blocks have been fun to make and enabled me to use up fabric. I think that block #7 Today and Tomorrow is special to me.
I loved block #10 Looking Up and Moving Forward. I’m doing two sets of blocks from different fabrics. One has clouds and I used that as Looking Up and pointed geese Up. My other fabric has bicycles and I used that as Moving Forward and pointed geese to the right. I’ve truly enjoyed this project. I’ve gotten back into needle work and have had so much fun. I’ve looked forward to each Monday and jumped right on the patterns. Thanks for doing this and sharing with us.
#10 Looking up and moving forward. We need to all be looking up and not staying in the same place, Letting this pandemic get us down. things will get better. I also loved the bonus wall hanging project. My first fussy cut for the center and am in the process of quilting it right now. I am behind in my blocks but will complete them this week. I won’t be hesitant to join another quilt along in the future. Thank you!
LOVE THE SILVER LININGS BLOCKS! CAN’T WAIT TO MAKE ALL THE BLOCKS AND PUT THEM TOGETHER FOR AN INSPIRATIONAL QUILT!
I love block #12 because it has a great flow using several different fabrics, the eye just flies around the block. I great ‘final” block to tie them all together. Loved participating with people around the world, all flowing together.
Thanks so much for bring joy to all if us.
I like Block #5 Don’t Worry, Be Happy. It reminds me of a pinwheel and makes you happy to look at it.
This is actually a harder question than I thought…..And of course it has to be more than one….#2 – like the design and love the Bible verse that you used! But I have to say I LOVE 2 of the embroidery patterns….Be the Light and Today, I Choose Joy. I need to be reminded of both of those on a daily basis (many days more than just a daily basis — hourly sometimes). Thank you for this Sew Along and the chance to win a prize!!
Maybe because I like simple and my life is so complicated right now that I need simple, my favorites are the 9 patch (#1 I think), the rail fence (#2) and the flying geese…looking up and forward. I haven’t gotten very far, just a stack of patterns with fabric picked out, but it’s been so fun to see the patterns each week. Thanks so much for the lift!
I love all the blocks! Especially mixing in the embroidery with the pieced. But my favorite is the Dance in the Rain embroidery block. I added some decoration to the umbrella and I love the way it turned out.
Love #4 Every Day is a Gift! As one gets older you realize how true this is.
I have enjoyed all the blocks – but I especially like the SUN embroidery block – so bold and bright!
Hi Jacquelynn, you saved the best for last, my favorite block is # 12, one of my favorites to do. I have not started it yet, but i love the way it looks. You have made this so fun, during a time when our world is changing, thank you so much, and many blessings to you and your family for good health.
I think block #12 is my favorite…but all of the block making has pushed me to be glad I have scraps to incorporate into something beautiful & not get stressed out choosing at a fabric store..that’s my story. Thank you all for sharing & caring!
my favourite is the last block: Unity, we are all united, in this together. This sew a long has brought a lo of people together, thanks Jacqueline
Block #1 was my winner block! It began a whole new quilt! Loved the idea! best way to use up scraps!
Block 9 is my favorite. Just a slight challenge. And I love the idea of “all roads lead home.” Thanks for the sew along. I especially enjoyed seeing all the various combinations of fabric and helpful hints that were shared.
The challenge with Block # 2 was fussy cutting the “Frozen” characters to have them not stand on their heads. This has been a wonderful learning process. I have lost my dislike of Flying Geese with Jacqueline’s oversizing method. Love, Love, Love.
I liked many of the blocks but #10(Looking Up/ Moving Forward) had an interesting method for making flying geese… have not seen them made this way before
I loved them all but I think Block 12 Unity Star is going to combine many of the skills learned on the journey. I haven made a quilt in 25 years and my niece who lives 1000 miles from me are doing this together….it’s been amazing will be sad to see this journey end.
Block # 9 all roads lead home has to be my favorite because I just love the layout! I may have to make a quilt with these blocks alone!!!
I had many “favorites” but #1 stands out because it was the start of the excitement and enjoyment of this quilt a long journey! Thank you so much for this learning opportunity. Also feel that I have met many friends along the way!
It’s #10 for me – the best flying geese I’ve ever made! Thank you for the joy of looking forward to your silver linings every Monday.
Hard to pick just one but I would choose #1 because it started a wonderful trip through the quarantine. I have learned new techniques and watched beautiful quilts emerge from scraps. I am so thankful to have been a part of this group of supportive and creative quilters. I hope you do this again.
I love block #6 because it’s fun to combine different fabrics for different looks.
My very favorite block is
#11 “Climbing the mountain”’
The first block I only sewed once!
I’m a new quilter and have been so inspired my mind is just buzzing all the time.
Thank you for the inspiration. ?
I love all of them and hope to start this soon. My favorite is #12, both because I love star blocks and the name. We need Unity in this country.
Such a fun sew-along!! I’m a bit behind because of buying a new house and then having cervical disc replacement surgery BUT I’m determined to get caught up. My favorite has been all of them. I love how encouraging each block has been named and seeing all the photos posted has been amazing – that said, the Unity Star will be my favorite because of the unity of this group. Thank you Jacquelynn and all the members!! Blessings ?
My favorite so far is #5 Don’t worry be happy I love the pinwheel. But it changes as a new block is released.
I have enjoyed all of them. But I love the embroidery ones the best especially the last one I choose Joy…thanks for doing these for us..we are blessed to have things we can complete in a few hours and enjoy.
I have loved this sew along, have learned so much. Thank you. I like Block#12 is my favorite, love stars.
This has been a really fun project! My favorite block would have to be #5 – Don’t worry be happy. There is just something about pinwheels that I absolutely love! I can’t wait to see if there will be another project like this.
I loved each block. So much thought went into the naming and it certainly was a positive these past 12 weeks to have a Monday morning smile in my inbox. My skills are much better now as I’m a fairly new quilter and I’m anxious to continue.
My favorite is #12 – Unity. I just saw it but my reaction was WOW! What a great way to end our journey…in unity.
I’m creating my blocks with Riley Blake’s Fireworks & Freedom charm pack. I’m going to make 2 table runners for my Granddaughters who are both newlyweds and just love anything patriotic and made by Grandma! I’m sure they will be displayed all summer long.
Thank you again for sharing your generous gift of knowledge and time.
My favorite block was the embroidered rainbow. With all that’s going on in our world right now, the rainbow serves as an obvious symbol of peace and serenity.
#12 It might be that little umbrella in the center or the way the colors turn a traditional block into a bit of sparkle, It encourages creativity
Hi, I am totally new at this but my favourite block is 6. One can play with colours with it. Thanx for the sew along project, I am really enjoying it.
This is my first sew along in many years. Im behind as I had to leave the state and don’t have a machine here, bit I love don’t worry be happy. It’s my life motto! Thank you so very much!
As a late blooming quilter, my pick for favorite is #5, because it was a challenge for me to get the lines and points to match. The finished square gave me the confidence to contiue til the end. Thank you for offering this BOW.
Looking up and moving forward was my favorite block because of its symbolism and because it came out absolutely adorable with my fabrics. I often have difficulties with flying geese blocks but this one came together perfectly.
Hello! Diana here, at gulleydiana13@gmail.com . Picking just one block is difficult but I’m picking #8. It’s so versatile and just enough of a challenge, yet goes together easily! The challenge of it, for me, was the choosing of colors. I have a tough time with that!
I am so sorry to see the Sew Along come to an end, but on the bright side I will be able to finish an entire quilt top with the 8 squares of each pattern I pieced!
My favorite block was Block #11. I was nearing the end of my fabric pieces and this allowed me to use up some of my small pieces and bring out the combination of fabrics used in the rest of the blocks! I’m looking forward to the next sew along! This has made our quarantine time go by so much easier!
Thank you Jacquelynne for coordinating this wonderful event!
Block # 12 Unity Star is my favorite. I love star patterns. Thank you Jacquelynne for providing a silver lining during this time. My friends and I are doing this together, and it has brought some fun and “lightness” to our lives. God bless. Ann
My favorite is Unity Star #12. All blocks are easy to make but make a fun project.
My Favorite block is #11. This is the main point of this quilt as it represents the unity of the holiday of Chanukah and gathering of family. Each night we gather to tell the story of the Maccabees, And the miracle of the oil burning for 8
Nights. We light candles, say prayers, eat latkas and play the dreidle game. Now wrap in a quilt as a new tradition. FAMILY warms my heart always.
I loved being part of this sew along! During this difficult time, it was so exciting to look forward to Monday’s and seeing the next block surprise! Thank you for such an inspirational, fun weekly event! My favorite block was Block 5 Don’t Worry Be Happy. The sew along took your cares away and you could focus on the simplicity of the project bring calm and joy?
I loved the “Moving Forward and/or Looking Up” block the best. The name was perfect depending on its position of the arrow points and it gave me the perfect chance to practice making flying geese, which always gave me trouble before. This sew-along has been a welcome and wonderful respite from all the craziness and I’m very grateful to Chris and Jacquelynne for sharing it with us!
My favorite is block 10…I have never made flying geese before and your tutorial made it so simple…my mother and grandmother lived block 2, that are big time quilters but had not seen that block. I have even been learning how to change the size of the blocks. My 1 yr old granddaughter is getting the original size and my 7 yr old granddaughter and I are getting the bigger blocks. Thank you for this see along!
I enjoyed all of the blocks but block 12 was my favorite as we we/are united as we worked and encouraged each other during this stressful time. Thanks for sharing.
Block #8 was the one I found more challenging. Used all Patriotic fabrics left over from a quilt I had just finished for my other blocks, but had to dig through my stash to find another print to go with them. Do this again. I look forward to Mondays just to see what the next block will be.
I liked block 8. I am new to quilting and enjoyed learning how to make all the blocks. I especially liked the tips from other quilters.
I really ❤️ Doing the hand embroidery blocks. That’s my favorite thing to do.
I love block #9. All roads lead to home. It was a cute block with a lovely name that reminds us that no matter where we are all roads lead home.. Thanks Jacquelynne for a lovely quilt a long.
Thank you for hosting this fun project! All of the blocks were great but my favorite one is #11. It has been fun seeing all of the variations of fabrics!
I love block #9, All Roads Lead Home. I have so enjoyed this sew along!
My favorite block is #12. Not only is it the ending block but a block that unifies the quilt and all of us! Thank you!!
I liked block 5 the best! Have enjoyed this sew along
I loved blocks 2 and 11. I love straight lines and had fun switching fabrics around creating blocks with different looks.
Block 8 really hits home for me. My husband and I retired and sold our home in New York (my husbands family home) and lived in our glamping trailer for 5 months until we found the perfect home in Virginia. I
Hi.
I love all the Blocks and I have enjoyed to be a part of all this. I have also enjoyed to use all my scraps and I Think I wil end up with a beautiful little quilt.
I sew enjoy all the blocks as I love to embroidery. Think #11 was fun. Enjoy the sew alongs especially being shut in. Thank you for sharing
I think block #2, All Things are Possible, was my favorite. I liked the Scripture that was included, All things are possible with God! That is the truth. I felt like the patterns on my fabric were very visible. This QAL has been fun, thank you!
Flying Geese “Moving Forward” was my favorite block, though I loved all of them. Making them increased my skills and they were easy enough that I did not get discouraged and did not mind redoing parts of them if they did not come out the way they were supposed to. I also enjoyed the embroidery blocks and am looking forward to putting it all together. This is the first project of this type that I have actually kept up with and will be finishing. I also liked the schedule of the regular pieced blocks coming out on Monday. It was a schedule I could remember…lol….It has been a really good experience for me! Thank you, Jacquelynne! I also liked being able to post my finished work on Facebook and also liked having my own posting area. I know you had not expected us to do that, but so glad you were able to accommodate us in that way. Otherwise, it was a bit time-consuming to scroll through so many in the general silver linings finished picture area to get to the current block pics. Perhaps you could have a different place for each weekly block posting so it would be easier to see the most recent ones, in the future. Thank you for a great experience!
Block #8 is my favorite but #12 is a close second. I have loved this Sew-Along. I hope that you do another one. Thank you regardless. It’s been a blast.
I like block 12 because I love star blocs. . But also I wanted to learn hand embroidery so bad to help with the bereavement gowns I sew for Threads of Love and the free designs made me get on You tube and learn how to embroidery. I am loving it so much. Thank you Jacquelynne
While all the blocks are fun the one I like the best is #11 Climb The Mountain. I like that you can highlight one fabric and then add playful fabrics to go with it.
My favorite block is #5. I have always liked the pinwheel. Big thank you to you and all the sponsors.
My favorite is #3. That’s such a beautiful assorment of fabrics.
I would love to own them.
All the prizes are very nice. My second choice is #1 – nice notions.
Hope I win. Good luck to me.
Enjoyed doing them all, learned a lot. Block # 11 was my favorite, plan on doing 4 of them and using in corners of this quilt. Each block taught me something new, had no done hst before and each block let me improve my skills. Thank you so much for doing this and bringing me in touch with so many wonderful quilters.
Block 5, “Don’t Worry Be Happy”, is my favorite block. I love pinwheels! As a new quilter I’ve enjoyed the sew along and looked forward to the new block each week. Thank you!
#5 mainly due to fabric selection/display. Really enjoyed this as all were simple – easy to complete and keep up with (first time ever for me!).
Thanks so much for the fun quilt along.
I love #12, stars are my faves! Loved this sew along, even though I am behind! I just had to make 5 of each! smh I will have 5 quilts to give for Christmas! Thank you, Jacquelynne!
I love, block #12. (Unity Star). I love to make stars. It makes me think of Christmas and that all people are stars in their own way.
I also want to say thank you. I loved this series of blocks.
Many of the blocks are very simple which can be encouraging for a beginner. Although not a challenging block, I liked # 7 “Today and Tomorrow” best partly because it gave me an idea for using up my “orphaned” (left over) half-square triangles for some charity quilts but even more for the quotes. I really enjoyed the addition of quotes each of the patterns…encouraging, heartwarming, though provoking……Thanks!
My favorite block is BLOCK 5 – “Don’t worry, be Happy” I love it’s boldness :-) This has been my first quilt along. I have loved every minute of it. I wish we could all get together in a room and visit, as I feel like I have many new friends. Another of my favorite things about this quilt along is YOU, Jacquelynn. The quotes and uplifting words help us during this weird time in history.,,especially what you had to say for the “Unity Star” block. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Block #1 is my favorite because it started a new quilt and moved my focus to something creative and positive. Thanks!
I love block 12…Unity Star. So many of us are uniting around the world to find a vaccine/cure for Covid 19. Also loved the names of all the blocks.
I really enjoyed the Flying geese squares. I thought at first oh no Flying geese I’ve heard those are hard…. wow What a misconception on my part. Your instructions n tutorial were above amazing . Thankyou I think I aced that one for sure… I’m even thinking of doing a quilt with that pattern
Hello!
Jacquelynne,
gran-mama
@hotmail.com
I have enjoyed making all the blocks and working the embroidery blocks.
My favorite is
Block #: 5
“Don’t Worry Be Happy!”
It was fun to sew
together. It makes me think of
Happy carefree Days as a child outside in the sunshine running around the yard with “Pinwheel” in
hand.
I have enjoyed this whole adventure.
I have learned so many things with the making each square.
I have renewed my embroidery skills. It has been fun working on these blocks.
Thank You, for sharing with us your time, talents and gifts.
You are truly a blessing!
I love block 12. Any block with a star is top of my list. Thank you for organizing this quilt along, it’s been something nice to look forward to each week.
I love block 12. It ties everything together and the star pattern has always been what I think of first when I think quilt.
Hard to decide…they were all fun. The last one (12) looks like the most fun to make as I head down to the sewing cave. Thanks – gave me something to look forward to on Mondays!
I love them all, but my favorite is the 1st block. Thanks for the great sew a long fun!
I have thoroughly enjoyed Making all of these blocks! They are simple
To make as well as very pretty! Even though I haven’t made the Unity Star block yet ( as I just got the pattern) I think it will be my favorite because of what it represents—
And the way you described how we should be—looking for the good
In each other no matter what our religious, political, or social beliefs might be.
Thank you for this “sweet” quilting journey!
I loved “Dance in the Rain”, as well as all the other embroidery blocks. I haven’t embroidered in years, really enjoyed getting back into it. So much so I joined the Art of the Home Club!
I loved block 8 – “Into the Unknown” – this one required me to do some “do-overs”… I am pretty new to quilting and the cutting, sewing, squaring off – pretty much all of it went badly the first go around – this helped me hone my skills. I loved this project! My first sew along!!!
“Don’t Worry Be Happy” pinwheel block is my favorite because I love pinwheels and it’s my Mantra.
Thank you for such a fun Sew-Along!!
I loved all the blocks for their simplicity which meant those new to quilting could easily complete as well as us seasoned quilters could practice our accuracy. Thanks for a fun way to spend an otherwise trying time.
My favorite block is #12, I love stars and will be making 6 different stars to put in this quilt. So much fun, hoping there is another quilt a long very soon..
My favorite was the home block because home is where the heart is and that’s where it all begins. This is my second sew along and I love doing them. This would be a good sew along to start a beginner on. Thanks so much.
My favorite block is #5, Don’t worry, be happy. I really like pinwheels. That was one of the hardest things for me to get the points right when I was first learning to quilt. Now that I’m better at getting them to line up, pinwheels are a favorite.
Thanks for this fun quilt a long. I’ve had a lot of fun and loved seeing everyone’s creations.
Looking up and moving forward is my favorite block , gave me more practice in flying geese and your direction were spot on . They came out pretty good . Thanks for you giving us this project , something to look forward too every week.Throughly enjoyed see everyone’s blocks
I really liked block #5 but I also liked the final block. I think that I am especially drawn to stars for some reason. I did like block #5 though (even though it was not a star) because of the cheerful look and the name of the block “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. That is what I am trying to do these days. Thank you for a great project to look forward to each week.
#5 is my favorite. with all that is going on, we need to stop worrying and bring back happiness. The hand embroidered blocks are a special touch, too.
Thank you!
My favorite block was #7 “Today and Tomorrow”. I loved it because the block was new to me and came out really cute! Thanks so much for the quilt along. It was fun to look forward to something during these difficult times.
I think #11 is my favorite. I learned a lot from this block! I can see it easily being added to other projects! This has been really fun. Something I’ve never done. Thanks for all your hard work putting it together!
Block # 4 is my favorite. It was fun to make with the little square in the middle. I was scared of small projects. I love the saying “Every Day is a Gift”. Thank you for doing the sew along. It was so fun and excited to try different blocks.
Loved the DANCE IN THE RAIN embroidery pattern. It reminds me being young and going out in the rain.
The last block hit the bell for me!! Thank you for this experience!
Block #8, into the unknown. Looks complex but is quite simple and isn’t that often what the unknown really is? Thanks for this great sew along and the embroidery blocks have really added a lot!
I loved all the blocks but the Dance in the Rain embroidery is my favorite. This has special meaning to me as my husband and I have actually danced in the rain and it is one of our favorite relationship memories.
Thank you Jacquelynne. I LOVE block #5, the pinwheel. Don’t worry be happy!!
-Jean❤
Block 8 was my favorite ( I like the “churn dash “ look) But I also really liked 10, I had never done flying geese, and it came out right the first time!!
Thanks so much for this sew along, I have really enjoyed meeting new people ( sorta ?)
May God bless you always!!
Don’t Worry, Be Happy (Block #5) is my favorite. I like the name, but also, there is something really satisfying about seeing all those points come together perfectly.
I LOVED this project! I learned so much & has given me the confidence to work on bigger projects. I didn’t post any of my blocks because I don’t know how to!! I will ask my grandson to help me with that! My favorite block was the unity star #12. Because of the fabric I choose it came out the brightest & the best. I believe this time has united many people, Unfortunately sometimes only the bad stuff is reported. Looking forward to the finishing. Thank you again for offering a great project.
It’s hard to choose, but I think my favorite is #2, All Things Are Possible. I like the block design and the name.
What a fun sew along at a crazy time! I love block #12. You can have so many looks with different colored fabrics. Thanks for the blocks and embroidery patterns. I have shared them with my mom.
I like block #8 because it involved an additional fabric and made me think about how to arrange them a little bit. thank you for this sew-a-long, it’s been fun!
Block #12. I love star blocks as they are very versatile. This star is unique – skinny top and bottom; wide left and right. I have a wall hanging that I made 6 stars plus other blocks that are favorites.
Thank you for adding a star block to Silver Lining SAL..
Today’s block is my favorite as I am star crazy! But then I think about the embroidery blocks that were included and I start having second thoughts. This project has been so much fun. I have loved reading all the comments made on my blocks and having the opportunity to see so many beautiful interpretations has been wonderful! The embroidery opened up a long-forgotten world. I used to do some embroidery years ago, but these blocks inspired me to seek other patterns to include in my Silver Linings project. I know I will be looking for the next Jacquelynne Steves Sew Along!!
I love #12, love star blocks, but also knowing this is last block of the sewing along means it is almost finished! I have enjoyed this and like the small blocks as it didn’t seem overwhelming to do a larger block. Thank you for the time you spent putting this together for us.
I LOVED the umbrella block, I wound up doing most of it in raw edge appliqué, my favorite, and the words in embroidery. This last Unity Block is amazing too. Thanks so much for providing this sew along. I am the president of a quilt chapter in Florida and this has provided a great project for many of my members. Stay in Stitches, Karen
I like Block 7 Today and Tomorrow. It uses four fabrics in a clean but interesting way. And it relatively easy to make. I also like Block 11 because I feel like I am climbing something in my life, and the large triangle is the destination. dtsterling@aol.com
All Roads Lead to Home is my favorite,#9. I have enjoyed this so much! Easy to do yet looks great. Thanks for doing this.
Number 8 is my favorite because it gave me more interesting options for my fabric choices. I so enjoyed this sew-a-long and the challenges and fun it offered and am looking forward to finishing up the Silver Lining quilt! Blessings.
My favorite is block #12 he is classic and challenging, before that I thought about blocks #6 #7 #8. Most difficult I found #2, I had to do this 3 times, until it became nice and straight.
My favorite block is #9 all roads lead home. I travel a lot but coming home is always the favorite part of our trip.
My Favorite is Block #5. This was so much fun!
My favorite was block # 11 as it shows more of 1 specific fabric better. I specifically love the bonus log cabin though too.
Somewhere over the rainbow is my favorite.
reminds me of watching Wizard of OZ when I was a child.
Never missed a chance to see it.
I think today we are all looking for a rainbow.
Thank you for all the uplifting blocks.
My favorite is block 8 Into the Unknown. The traditional name is churn dash which is a favorite of mine. I love the name you gave it because we are definitely in an unknown time in history. My favorite embroidery block is Always look for the silver lining. Doing this quilt along has brought me great joy. Thank you so much.
I loved block #5
Don’t worry, Be happy!!
I loved saying and the block
Thanks for all the blocks. Enjoyed making them all
Block 10 “Looking Up/Moving Forward” is my favorite block. Right now with all that’s going on I think we all need to Look Up and Keep Moving Forward because we will not go back completely to the way things were before, so we must move forward.
I have completely enjoyed this entire project. I’ve made some blocks I never would have and I especially have loved doing the embroidery projects. It’s made me pick up other pieces I had started and never finished. Thank you so much for this fun project.
I liked Block 2 “All Things Are Possible.” It speaks to my heart and I believe strongly that this is true. It gives us hope in these uncertain times.
Nanette Shane
I liked Block 9 because it’s title was All Roads lead to Home.
The block was fun to make and hopefully all of the family and
friends find my road.
I really enjoyed doing block #2. I am new to quilting and I had not realized all the many different possibilities that one pattern could make just by changing things up. Thank you for offering this project at a time when I needed a creative escape from making masks all day. When I would worked on my little square it reminded me why I like to sew. :) I love to embroidery so I really appreciate all the bonus projects. Thanks again.
I love block 12 the Unity Star. I am new to quilting and for me it has been a challenge but I think the Unity Star is very pretty. I don’t have mine made yet but am making the whole quilt out of Patriotic colors if I can continue to find the material. I am making two of each block.
My favorite is block #8, Into the Unknown. Because of the situation our country is in right now. Who knows what the future will bring? But the block reminds me that it will soon be bright and cheery!
Well …they have all taught me something! But I hadn’t done embroidery for a long time and it rekindled my love of stitching. I’m now starting a redwork embroidery project! Thanks for the inspiration!
I liked block #5 the best because it was my first introduction to cutting and sewing triangles! I also love the saying “Don’t Worry Be Happy!”
I love number 12. It went together so easily and just love the little star.
Block #12 was my favorite
Unity block as we sure do need it now
So pretty with the star showing
#3 is my favorite as I love the saying “Everyday is A GIFT” Each morning I awake and can sew, be healthy and happy is a blessing. Thank you for this special gift as all the blocks are so cute and I look forward to adding them to other projects I end up doing, who knows maybe a full quilt someday!
My favorite is Block #11. It was easy and love the way it turned out. Made 4 of these blocks and put them together to make a big block. So much fun!
I love traditional blocks so I really like all of these. If I had to choose one, I would choose Block #6 Beacon of Hope. It looks so much more complicated than it really is! Thank you for sharing all of these blocks.
#5 Don’t worry be happy, I could do some fussy cuts. also loved the embroidery blocks. this has been a great project, most of the blocks were pretty easy and I really worked on my basic skills on them. thank you so much for giving us the gift of creativity
I love number 12. It went together so easily and just love the little star.
I love stars, so #12 is my favourite block!!
Thanks for the sealing, nice variety of blocks.
Block 5-“Don’t Worry, Be Happy” is my favorite. Pinwheels are happy! And I learned how to use the markings on my ruler to cut the HST down to size?
My favorite block is #12 the Unity Star, but I love all the blocks in this project, especially the embroidery blocks. I think a bit of hand needlework in a quilt just adds some thing special. :o)
Iam so thankful to you, Jacquelynne, for bringing these simple but beautiful blocks creating the SewAlong. I got so enthusiastic that I made two sets, each with different sets of fabrics. One is made with leftovers of a fat quarter bundle, and the other with fabrics made in Brazil, that I had forgotten about. They now see the light of life, plus I am super-excited to get to see the suggestions for putting it together, sashing or no, borders, or ? Loving the project, the process and the outcome! Did I mention it was my first sew along with a block-a-week?
My favorite part of the Silver Linings sew-along were the embroidery blocks:+) I liked the actual blocks too because it did not take me forever to figure out how to put them together. Thank you Jacqueline! It made my July at home fly by.
Janewalker6314@yahoo.com
I love the Joy embroidery as its my granddaughters middle name and quilt is for her. You then topped it with #12. Unity is the name of the town she lives in. Thank you so much for this sew along. Helped to keep my sanity.
Block #8 “Into the Unknown” was my favorite pieced block. As I have been preparing to return to my classroom this fall, I see myself walking into the unknown. This is due to the constant changes but also due to the complete lack of communication from my school district. We return on Aug. 17 students on the 24th. We don’t know much more than that. Please pray for all teachers/school staff as we do our best for the kids in our care. Pray for our physical health, our mental health, and the health of our families.
Thank you for providing the sew along. I like how each block became a little more difficult building our skills as we went. I really liked watching the younglings learning to sew from their parents and grandparents. Sew precious. Again, thanks!
I liked Into the Unknown because it came out on my birthday. I doubled all the sizes so we ended up with 12″ blocks. My girls are making these as their first forays into quilting.
Sorry for the double post.I accidentally posted this as a reply to someone else’s comment and don’t know if that would qualify me for the giveaway!
my favorite block was block 9 Into the unknown, I liked this block because it was a churn dash pattern and in all that we have been through this year we can say we have had a journey into the unknown. It suits the times we are living in right now. We have truly had a journey into unknown territories and experiences.
Block #5 is my favorite. I’m a pinwheel fan, and also “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” is kind of my mantra! Thanks so much for this fun project. It’s been something to look forward to during the pandemic isolation.
Thanks so much for the Sew-Along. I love all the cheery colors and embroidery bonus blocks so it is hard to choose, but if I must, I would have to say that #12, the Unity Star is my favorite. I love being able to add embroidery with the pieced blocks.
My favorite block is block number 12. I love the design and I am thinking of making a quilt for my grandson using that design. I want to thank you for having this block of the week and the bonus embroidery. It has been fun and I have learned a lot.
First Quilt Along I have participated in and I loved it. Did some embroidery too. Block 8 was my favourite. May make a whole quilt with that bock. Thank you. I have had such fun with this and am sorry it is finished.
All roads lead home – home is where I give love and home is where I receive love…home is love. I hold on to that feeling and truth to help me rejoice in every day.
My very favorite is Bonus Embroidery Block #6 – “Today, I Choose Joy. Many years ago I was down in the dumps over a bad situation and a very Godly woman/friend told me, “Don’t let anyone rob you of your Joy!” I’ve never forgotten how uplifting that simple statement is. Joy truly is a choice and “I, choose Joy”. Thank you for providing this SAL. It has brought me many hours of pure joy.
I liked all of the blocks & it’s hard to pick just one! Block #11 presents a challenge & a resolution for using up my scraps. Thank you for letting me follow along!!
This was my first Sew-A-Long! My favorite block is #11 “Climbing the Mountain”. I liked it because I could see so many possibilities with that pattern and I loved seeing everyone else’s version of that block.
Thanks for the Fun!
I like #11 the star the best. May be the most complicated for me, as I am a beginner, but I have always loved star blocks. I also really love the embroidery and the rainbow is my favorite. So cute! Thanks for putting this out!
Block # 1 Trust the Journey Has to be my favorite. It was my first block ever and it has started me on a Journey that I Trust will bring years of enjoyment.
Loved all the blocks, but #12 is my favorite. Thank you very much for having
this Sewalong. It was wonderful and being able to everyone’s blocks made it even more pleasant. I know this is a lot of work for you, but I would like to do another of your sewalong. Take care and God bless.
I think #12 was my favorite. It made me read and re-read the instructions. I also love #2, you could do so much with that layout.
I LOVED all of them! But I will pick 4 because “everyday IS a gift” I was always exited when it was Monday to see what you would have for us that week (words of encouragement).Thank you for helping us through this time of uncertainty.
I really liked block #5 Don’t worry Be Happy. I just love the movement of the pinwheel. Thank you for sew much fun. I really looked forward to each week and what it would bring, I also love the embroidery squares, alittle behind but I will catch up. This is the second sew along with you that I did. Also did other projects of yours in between the Happy Little Things and this Silver Lining project. Thanks again to all the quilters out there for their insparation. Enjoy!!
#7 today and tomorrow…..I feel like that captures my feelings during this uncertain time. I can only deal with today. Thank you for the project.
I loved all the blocks because they are simple and sweet. I appreciate the message of each one. Thank you for this fun sew-along.
Fun and easy blocks. I’ve looked forward to Monday mornings and receiving a new pattern. The embroidery blocks brought back memories of my Mom who loved to embroider flour sack dish towels. My favorite block is the umbrella embroidery – my kids and I would go out into the rain and dance. I haven’t won anything for years, but I keep hoping and pushing forward.
I I have to say that number 12 block was the hardest one we had to do but it was a challenge and I enjoyed it. My favorite block I believe was number 11 and also the embroidery, dancing in the rain ,was my favorite embroidery block. I have thoroughly enjoyed this quilt along. At 85 years young I want to continue learning something new each day.
I would love any of them.
My favorite block-Impossible choice-I love them all!! I guess if I had to choose I would say the unity star-evne though I didnt make it yet-so I may end up hating it if it is difficult LOL.
Thanks for the sew along I just love it, I cannot wait to put these block together!
Block #1 Trust the journey is my favorite block because it reminded me that I can’t control everything and I need to trust the One who can.
My favorite block is #12 “Unity Star”. I also enjoy #2 and #7. I love prize #1 but they are all great.
Visually my favorite pieced block is #8 Into the Unknown, closely followed by Block #2 All Things are Possible. My favorite block to work on was the “Dancing in the Rain” umbrella embroidery block. This has been a joyful project to work on.
I loved making number 11… as someone else here said, it automatically came out the right size! I love the theme of this sew along and am so thankful I decided to do it! One more block to go!
Thanks for making this so doable during our “Season of Lockdown”
Thank you for all of these free blocks. Loved all of them and especially the embroidery blocks. If I had to choose a favorite, it would probably be the Unity Star as I love star blocks and the name of this block is special in these hard times.
Looking Up & Moving Forward was my favorite block. Your method taught me a new way to do flying geese and to get a perfect point! Thank you Jacuelynn!
I have enjoy all the blocks , but my favorite is #8 “into the unknown” I have made a whole quilt with this block easy and so pretty when done Thank you for a great spring and summer mini job
It has been a great journey, amidst the world chaos. My fave block is Block # 11, Climbing the Mountain, it came together easily, and looks so nice when completed. Many thanks for the silver linings block adventure.
Block 12 Unity Star is my favorite. I love stars. Thank you!
Unity, number 12 is my favorite. I have enjoyed every Monday morning opening up my email to find a new block each week. I can’t wait until next time you have a block of the week or month.
I love the embroidery blocks. It’s out of my comfort zone and a challenge for me. Getting to use so many colors of embroidery thread was fun.
My favorite block is block 12 ghe unity block. I’ve really enjoyed this sew along and seeing everyone’s blocks and fabrics.
Block #5 “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” I love simple, sweet pinwheels and any variation on pinwheels.
I’ve enjoyed all the blocks on the sew-a-long. There’s been lots of room for creativity – multiples of each block and not all the same numbers, different color ways, different projects, not all quilts per se – so many choices.
Thank you.
I really liked #2 All Things are Possible. It is the one that went together really well for me, and it is so cute.
I love the last block best, because I love starts, even little 6” ones.
It is hard to choose a favorite but I always go for star blocks so it would be Block 12. I enjoyed doing the embroidery blocks too.
I love block 2 the layout and the choices you can use on the fabric
My favorite is the last one , number 12 . I am using red, white, and blue fabrics and a patriotic Stars and Stripes theme for my quilt and this beautiful star block fits in perfectly!
The Unity Star is my favorite block. I love star blocks so this was an easy choice. Thank you so much for another wonderful sew along. I especially enjoyed taking the opportunity to improve my embroidery techniques by completing the embroidered blocks.
Block # 11 is my favorite. This block is a little different and I love mountains!
Block #5 “Don’t worry, Be happy”. I love the pinwheel. It just seems like a happy cheery block. And the colors I chose make it come to life! I can almost see it spinning in the wind! Thanks Jacquelynne for your wonderful websites and the many projects!
Everyone is wonderful and supportive and I have made some friends that I enjoy talking to.
My favorite block is #11. I enjoyed this sew along, my first one. Thank you for the project.
Block #9 I think it would be gorgeous as an overall block. It would form pinwheels in the nine-patch.
Block 5 Don’t Worry, Be Happy is my favorite. I love HSTs and pinwheels. To me they ARE happy!
I love block number 11. I could easily convert this block to a paper piecing pattern and showcase a favorite fabric in the larger triangle section.
It is hard to choose a favorite. This is the perfect project for beginner quilters because you write fabulous directions! But if I have to choose one block to love it has to be the Unity block because of what it represents, a unified, kind, world. If we put others first – we all succeed Together. So block number 12 is my favorite in name only. They are all beautiful ! Thank you for this free sew along. BOM
My favorite block was #6, Beacon of Hope. We all need hope and faith in our lives and making this beautiful block and being able to look at it daily, just lifted my spirits and hope for a great today and better tomorrow. Thanks for all your beautiful blocks, it has been so fun and I love your club website!!
I think my favorite block was number 1 because it was the beginning of possibilities. I am a new quilter and it was exciting to complete that first block. I am still catching up because I injured my hand, but I do plan on doing all of them at some point. Thank you so much for this experience. I hope to do more quilting once my hand heals.
My favorite block is the last block. I particularly love stars and I think “unity” is a perfect description of what this sew along has meant to all of us during these trying times.
I will the bonus Log Cabin block because it can be a wallhanging with different blocks in the middle – I like to hang seasonal wallhangings in my house. I also like the rainbow block.
I liked the unity star best. I love star blocks and all the embriodery blocks add so much.
My favorite was block 1 “Trust the Journey”. There is something so fun in the simplicity of a nine patch block.
11I love block 8, into the unknown. I have trust and faith that this group and you, Jacquelynne, are going to give me the courage to continue on in my quilting future. I have had issue with taking classes in the past but this Silver Lining has really taught me to be patient, keep on trying and joy at my success for a beautiful finished product. I just loved the embroidery patterns that not only with give my quilts sparkle but have also given me many ideas for gifts and projects. Thank you for opening up a new world for me to enjoy. Love all the patterns I have found. Now I just have to find the time to do all that I want to do
My favorite block is the first one once I found the scraps that went together I knew I could do this. This was my first guilt other than just sewing squares together. I loved the different patterns and learned as I went. Embroidery is something I have done before but loved the pieces. Although I discovered it’s hard to trace the pattern. I’ll work on that with other designs you have. Thank you for this sew along I’ll miss it.
I like Block #7 the best probably because I did it in red and white which really shows off the pattern. Also I looked forward to the new block every Monday -shall miss the new patterns which I finished every day!
My favorite block is #6. It came out great in both my colorways – good directions, and such a great block to show off the fabrics.
This has been a wonderful project for this time in particular.
Thank you!
This is my very first block of the month/week quilt along and I have learned so much! I like block #12 the best because of it being a star but it is also my favorite because learning the Half-square triangle intimidated me before this and now it is a favorite kind of block.
I have really enjoyed doing this knowing so many quilters were all following the same pattern with such beautifully different results! My favorite block is #9, All Roads Lead Home. It made me work outside my comfort zone with HSTs and turned out so lovely. Thanks for giving us this gift of unity through calamity.
Pick one favorite, okay 8. It challenged me with those triangles, but the directions were easy and well done. Bonus I got it to come out right. Thank you for this, as a fairly new quilter it gave me a solid foundation in a fun and easy way to feel like I’m getting better.
I’m partial to pinwheels, so block 5 is my favorite. So is the saying, Don’t worry, be happy. It should be my motto! Thanks for the wonderful Sew-a-long. All the blocks are wonderful.
Ever since I started noticing quilts, the 9-patch block has always jumped out at me. So this is an easy question for me to answer. Block #1, the 9-patch block, is my favorite. Even though it’s a simple block, it’s always been my favorite.
Thanks so much for the Silver Linings Sew-Along. It was a great distraction through a very dark time.
Thanks, Ann Beckemeyer
annbeckemeyer@hotmail.com
Loved them all! But the embroidery blocks sent me back more than 50 years ago to the first craft I actually learned – embroidering tea towels – with the girls and their umbrellas and the days of the week. This was wonderful fun. Thank you!
I really like Unity Star — I love star blocks — this has been such a great quilt along. I have been very careful to make sure all my points are correct — really love that this is easy and if life gets in the way, it is easy to catch up!!
I have really enjoyed all the embroidery blocks but I think my favorite pieced block is #12, Unity Star. I have always liked this block and have used it in many of my quilts. Thanks so much for a fun sew along.
All your blocks were enjoyable, especially the embroidery blocks.
My favorites are #8, Into the Unknown (really tested my skill with points) and bonus block Dance in the Rain (able to incorporate applique).
Looking forward to join more of your quilting project. Presently unable to join The Art of Home Club :(
As a new quilter I enjoyed them all but I think my favorite was block 7. Piecing the smaller pieces was a good exercise. I also like the smaller blocks, a little easier for a new quilter.
My favorite block is #4–Everyday is a gift–as that is how I have been living during this time we are in right now!! loved all the blocks–and am thinking maybe a will do one in Christmas prints!! Thanks so much for this stitch along–it has helped!
luv, di
Block # 6 is my favorite block. It created a “quirky” simple block that was still challenging. I finally learned how to make all the points match. Great learning block.
I loved your sew along. I am an 80 year old woman just trying to create something in this challenging time by learning how to quilt.
Your pattern instructions were easy to follow and understand.
jorgensm0408@msn.com
Block #9 All Roads Lead Home. In the last year both of my children have moved out and I live 12 hours from my parents and siblings. Coming home is such a precious happening for me.
Sorry I forgot my email. jzuercher68@gmail.com
I like the first block #1. You can do so much with it by using different fabrics in the squares. I did your Little French hen pattern in cotton and wool and love it. This has been a really fun experience. First time I have done a BOW. Also like your idea for the bonus block.
It’s been fun to do all the blocks but I like #12 best. I can see making a quilt using all Unity Stars with the embroidered blocks! The choices for additional quilts or wall hangings using these blocks and the darling embroideries is endless! Christmas, here we come! Thank you so very much!
My favorite block was #8, as I’ve always loved the churn dash block. I appreciate the positivity of this sew along—I think we all needed your encouraging words! I’ve also done the embroidered blocks—haven’t embroidered in years and I’m really enjoying it now! Thanks so much, Jacquelynne!
I like #9, All Roads Lead Home. The block points to the center square which is home, a solid and secure place for me. No matter the journey, home is where it’s at.
I LOVE the bonus block – I have made several pillow tops with it. OF the blocks I enjoyed #9 – it just went together so easily. The thing I have enjoyed the most with this sew along is that my 8 year old granddaughter has sewn along with me – I will find her in t\he sewing room working on a block – I have them all cut and placed in baggies so all she has to do is look at the directions and work on her own – this has been a blessing during all this covid mess. And the directions – they are GREAT for experienced sewers AND the newbies, regardless of age. We are going to miss Monday’s when there isn’t a new block to work on. Emily is working on her #12 right now and then we have to find the right backing for her doll quilts – she has decided since she has 2 American Girl dolls she needs 2 quilts for their beds, I am making 4 throws for my 4 great grandchildren for Christmas plus small baby doll quilts for the little girls. Thank you so much for the chance to have sewing time with my youngest – we have had a great time – now we need to go clean the girls’ bedroom – do you have any idea what a mess a 17 year old and an 8 year old can make when you are busy sewing????
My favorite block was #9, All Roads Lead Home. I like the sentiment and the way the outer blocks all interact with the center “home” block. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity, it was fun having something to look forward to in my email.
Honestly my favorite part of the sew along were the bonus embroidery blocks. My granddaughter and I pieced a quilt from old shirts and broadcloth and used them to sew on the white blocks. This is here first attempt at sewing anything and she really enjoyed it and also did a great job for a beginner! Thank you for making this available!
I like Block #8. I have not been able to start sewing yet because I have a stack of UFOs to get through! I have enjoyed downloading the pattern each Monday. I bought the suggested fabric from Riley Blake. I cannot wait to get started. Thanks to everyone for sharing on FB! It makes my day to see all the happy blocks!
Jacquelynn, I have only been quilting for 3 years, and I love it! Your “Silver Linings Sew Along” is the first online BOM, I’ve joined and it has been fun and exciting. I look forward to Monday mornings and opening up your email. I’m behind but I will trot along to the finish. My favorite block is #9 ‘Home is where the Heart is”. It reminds to never take advantage of being home with family. These days I miss visiting with friends and my elderly mom in her home. This block is very meaningful to me, Thank You for the beautiful community you have created. Happy Sewing!
Into the Unknown, the baby churn dash, is my favorite block. When I saw the instructions for #8, I groaned – little pieces, triangles. My nemesi were all in one block! I took things slowly, measured and trimmed and there it was…a baby churn dash in all it’s glory! (The fabrics I chose worked well, too. Other blocks? That’s a different story.)
It’s hard to choose just one but I think my favorite would be #8. It’s indicative of the times we are currently living in. “Into the Unknown” pretty much sums it up.
I enjoyed everyone of the blocks. I must I have two blocks that are my favorites – embroidery block #6 – “today, I choose joy” and pieces block #12. The world has been a little crazy and each of these blocks remind me how important joy is in each of our lives and how unity will get us through this. Thank you for the weeks of joy!
This has been a joy ! Such cute small blocks and although I haven’t done # 12, Unity Star, it is already my favorite because I love any star block. I don’t know had embroidery but have printed off the bonus blocks and am going to try to make them in applique. Thank you for the silver lining to these unsettling days.
Block #12 is my favorite. I love stars and this one really stands out! This was a ‘stellar’ BOW, I enjoyed it so much. And the name ‘Unity Star’ is so meaningful right now.
Block No. 5 was my favorite. I t went together so nicely and i was pleased with it when I finished. I have enjoyed all of the blocks and this was a fun project, very anxious to get it all put together and finished.
Thank you so much for this fun project and I hope to see more in the future.
Block #8 Into the Unknown is the block I’m most proud of. This is my first journey into quilting, so after starting off with a wonky block #1, I really feel I’m making progress in my skills. I’ve learned so much from the tutorials and watching the other experienced quilters. I “fussy cut” the center, the fabric and placement just seemed to click, and my points lined up!
Thanks for the journey!
Climbing the mountain was one of my new favorites. I loved all the blocks but you started me on using hand embroidery which I didn’t think I would like. Thanks for the fun & easy to follow directions??
I love the Unity Star you just publised today because I’m partial to star blocks, but when I look at the blocks I’ve already made I would choose Block 8, Into the Unknown. The title resounds with me; who knows what we’ll face tomorrow, but we keep going in Faith.
I have really enjoyed this sew-along. My favorite block is the Looking Up and Moving Forward. This has a special meaning to me because I have been thru some rough times and it just reminds me that things will be better. I have loved doing the embroidered pieces. I used to do them years ago and forgot how calming they are. Thank you Jacquelynne for doing this for us. I look forward to additional projects from you.
Block #5 Don’t worry Be happy. I love pinwheels to begin with and the opportunity to pick amazing fabrics to compliment each other. I think more than ever we need to not worry and find more happiness in life. I also love to hand embroidery so those bonus blocks were amazing!
My personal favorite is Block #8, “Into the Unknown”. It gives me so much freedom to play with my fabrics! In these days of uncertainty, it’s good to know that I can use my sewing and quilting to give my home life some stability. And it’s always great for mental therapy work!
My favorite block is #12 the star block because the prints are so cute and I really like star pattern quilt blocks in general.
I liked #1 block the best because it was the very first block I’ve ever made and I’m 70 years old. Yesterday I finished block #11 so I was ready today for block #12. I’m excited to see my wall hanging done and bathe my den in it’s colors of blue and white. Thank you for giving me a chance to do this project. I was thinking about submitting it to the Kansas State Fair…. well maybe next year.
I relate to block #12″ Unity Star”. There is so much in the world right now to divide us and so much negativity. We need to focus on the positive and good things in the world and in people to bring peace. This has been such a fun project to remind everyone that we can all be a little light in this world. Thank you, Jacquelynne.
All of these blocks are beautiful, but I like Block #4, ‘Every Day is a Gift’, the best. This is a saying I often repeat to myself when I feel a little blue. I enjoy following you on Pinterest and on your blog. Thanks for sharing your creativity and positivity with us all. Also, I appreciate the opportunity to win in this generous giveaway. Thank you! :0}
I love #12. We could all use a little unity right now
Hello,
sew/quilt alongs are the best! I like the #8 into the unknown even though has the possibility of becoming too busy. lol sewing has always been my favorite hobby Thank you for the fun.
Teresa, mammafo@gmail.com
I like Block 11 the most. So simple but so striking. Pleasing to the eye.
Thank you!
I have to say I love block #12 the most, the Unity Star because this is what we all need right now, unity. I have also gotten a chance to try hand embroidery with the extra designs you sent and I have to say I really enjoy it. Even at the tender age of 70, I find I still enjoy learning new things. Thanks for the lessons :-)
My favorites were 10 and 11. I really enjoyed making the Flying geese. I love the concept of looking up Or forward. ❤️But I felt more confident with my skills and machine by the time we git to the end. This has been the best experience.
My favorite block was #11. As a new quilter I think it was the simplicity of it that I liked most.
I really enjoyed doing the embroidery blocks. My favorite pieced block was #11 “Climbing the Mountain”. I like that it showcases my main fabric so well.
Block 12 has really challenged me and I feel really accomplished having managed to create it. I love that it stands for Unity because if Covid has taught us anything …. it should be that if we unite and support each other we will get through this. Can I also say I have learnt so much as a newby, and feel like I have friends all over the globe now. Thankyou so much Jacquelynne and team I am now hooked.
My favorite block is the bonus embroidery Dance in the Rain but I really enjoyed all of the embroidery blocks and plan to use all of them in my finished project. I think #11 Climb the Mountain is my favorite of the pieced blocks because it was so simple and, after a hectic week, sometimes it’s nice to be creative with something simple and easy
First, thank you for this great project! My favorite block is Block 8. Perhaps because its theme is embracing the unknown. But also because it made up so beautifully.
I love block #8, Unknown! I’d love to make an entire quilt or table runner with this block. I also loved all of the bonus, embroidery blocks. This has been
SEW much fun during this long period of containment. Thank you for this wonderful sew along!
I feel the same way about Block 8!! I would love to see it as a full project!
I love all the blocks , but I love no# 4 . Everyday brings new life to us all. I keep getting new Great Grands so what gifts can be better than new life.
Thank your for hosting this sew along, I have enjoyed all the blocks. My favorite was Block 3, Town Square, because I was able to fussy cut my focus fabric for the center. My second favorite would be #12, Unity Star because I love star blocks.
I have to pick my favorite block?! That is like asking me to pick my favorite child! :-) I truly enjoyed this entire experience. Some of the blocks were easy yet fun and I loved the chance to really practice. I enjoyed the stories and quotes that accompanied each block. I think, though, that if I had to pick a favorite I would have to choose “Into the Unknown” (Block 8) for the challenge and “Climbing the Mountain” (Block 11) for versatility. I would add that I did not do the embroidered blocks as I was unable to get them printed off but I may go back and do them later. I also am looking at maybe doing them as applique. Thank you so very much for this wonderful activity and creative quilt! It has been such a great opportunity to meet with like-minded quilters and just enjoy the craft.
I forgot to mention that one of the hardest parts of this for me was following the “quilt ALONG” rule: I chose fabrics and tried to create the blocks ON TIME and IN ORDER using the fabrics I had on hand. I chose fabric for each block each week and hoped that I had enough to finish. So far, so good! :-) And I love that the last block is a star as I have my sashing ready and it features star cornerstones.
I haven’t actually started the blocks yet. I have them all printed off & in a book.
Have been busy with grandsons most of the time. Then I learn they r to have masks for school, so that has kept me busy.
I plan to go through my stach of material & work on it after the summer.
I want to find the right material that will blend together but who knows, I may just mix them up from previous quilt blocks. But I am looking forward to starting on them soon. They all are amazing. ?
Hard to choose for sure! I looked forward to the new block each week and love the quotes and words of wisdom you included with naming each block. I’m going to pick Block 8. Thanks so much for this journey. I look forward to many more projects in the Art of Home Club!
I think Block 12 is my favorite, never did embroidery before, very exciting to participate in this sewing along . I gave a try and did all the embroidery blocks. Unfortunately, I had surgery, and haven’t being able to sew. By the weekend, I will finish last and today block. Very happy to join , and looking forward to more learning , having fun. Quilting is my therapy. I’m a senior and being at home , most of the time, my sewing machine is my best friend. Your blocks are awesome. Thanks, From OH, but was living in NJ for 35 years.
I like block #11. It is so simple, yet there are so many possibilities of how to use this.
I have really enjoyed this quilt along, especially all the inspiration, quotes and names for the blocks. Thank you so much
Block 4 is my favorite. “Every Day is a Gift”. They are all beautiful but I love the name of that block. I haven’t got to start my quilt yet, but I have looked forward each Monday to seeing the new block and downloading it. Thank you for these fun and meaningful quilt blocks, they were a bright spot each Monday during this long summer of isolation and distance.
Oh my goodness. I love them all! I think #5 is my favorite, mainly because of what you named it. “Don’t worry, be happy “. If you have joy and peace in your heart you don’t have to worry about tomorrow, everything’s going to be ok! Thank you Jacquelynne for this wonderful sew along. This was my first but definitely not my last!
I loved this project because it was a great way to practice piecing and a great way to put colors together. Each week was a quick way to work on something without taking a lot of time. My favorite block is #9. All roads lead to home. Home is where we are spending so much time in safety from the world.
Really enjoying these blocks. I like all of them, but right now I wish to “Don’t Worry, Be Happy!” So, I will choose Block 5 as my favorite. Thanks for the opportunity to “sew along” with you.
Well, I love all the squares! The embroidered blocks were the most relaxing to work on. Block 11 was the one that was easiest to make and square up. I think it was my favorite and will probably make more of those.
I loved them all but my favorite is the “I Choose Joy” block. Joy is my favorite word and it’s definitely a choice. We must choose it every day.
I should say block number 12 is my favorite, unity star because today is my birthday but I really liked block number 6, Beacon of Hope, I like the balance of the fabrics in that block but really it is hard to pick as i liked trying them all. Such small blocks they were all challenging. I have not done all the embroidered blocks yet but i would like to.
My favorite block is #12. The unity Star. I am a sucker for stars., and it is a good way to end the sew along as we are all united in making these squares. A very peaceful place to be when the rest of the world is in an up roar. Thank – you so much for giving us an escape from day to day life. It has been very enjoyable.
I am using the blocks as center blocks for the larger Ohio Star Block. Should be beautiful, thanks, again!
#10…..looking up! Good thoughts for our current world. Honestly though, the sew along blocks were all cute. Fun project!
Thanks for the sew along and chance to win the giveaway. My favorite block is #8. I loved the colors you chose and the design.
I just love pinwheels so block 5 is my favorite. I also love the embroidery blocks. Thanks for this project during this crisis in the world.
My favorite block is block #2, All things are possible because it’s the way I try to look at life. Life does tend to go in all directions but if you keep your focus you can get where you want to be.
I have loved all the blocks because they have taught me how to piece different quilt blocks and they can be used with any number of different fabrics. The embroidery blocks have been fun and can be used with all kinds of different projects. My favorite is #12 Unity Star because I have loved the star pattern of the Amish quilts.
My favorite block is 5. I love pinwheels and anything with HSTs❣️ I absolutely love how HSTs look in a quilt.?
I like block 11 because you can showcase a larger print.
I like the Unity Star the best as I like star blocks. My second choice is climbing the mountain as that is what I always feel like when I am sewing.
I like the Unity Star block because it can be made in different colorways or style of fabric.
I’ve had a great time with all the blocks, even though some of mine are far from perfect, So far, I think number 11 is my favorite. I’m sad to see this come to an end. I’m a beginner and this has been so much fun. I hope you do another one soon,
I would like to start by saying thank you to Jacquelynne. This was my first quilt along and I loved it. The people, seeing the projects, the helpful advice when I asked for it, and my introduction to embroidery. My favorite blocks are the ones that showcase my fabric or let me put my own spin on the block. Like putting the bow on block 4. I enjoyed block 10 because I have never made flying geese before. And I was able to use the cutaway pieces to make another block for my quilt. But my all time favorite would have to be block 11. It showcased my fabric and signifies my climb to being a better piecer.
My favorite block is #5. I absolutely love pinwheels in quilts. Reminds me of childhood fun playing with pinwheels in the breezes on my Idaho farm.
I love them all, so it’s difficult to choose! But I think I am going to like #12 the best, it looks like a lot of fun!
I like block 11.I think I’m going to make a baby quilt for a boy from this block.
My favorite block is number 11. I just love the diagonal look. I have really enjoyed these blocks and look forward to Monday’s.
I love the flying geese – looking up and moving forward!
I like Block #5 the best. I love the versatility of this block as well as its simplicity. It provides an opportunity to use a variety of prints,
I love every block, but I think #5 is awesome. It was my first pinwheel and It turned out great for the first time. # 12 is right there also because it says it all. Unity is what we need in our life at this time. This is the first sew along I have ever done and it has been so much fun seeing all the different blocks and learning from everyone around the world! You are truly an inspiration to me and I know I will follow you for many more projects. God Bless you and your family.
Thank you Jacquelynne, I loved looking forward to these each Monday. I think #11 is the one I like best. I though when I saw the pattern that it would be boring, but my over the mountain view is great. Also, I’m hoping to give the embroidery a chance. Haven’t done any for quite a while. Thank you!
I enjoyed this block making process, my sisters and niece are all doing this and it gave me a chance to get back to sewing. My niece is learning about quilting and it so fun when you see someone get excited about quilting. I’m not sure I have a favorite maybe 8. Thanks for sharing this project, I even tried the embroidery which is new for me.
I loved block 2. It was something new to me and I just loved the way it looks! I loved it so much I made it 3 times with 3 different fabric colorways! Thank you for a great sew along and especially for all of the inspiration and positive thoughts each week. A great way to start Mondays.
My favorite is #11, Climbing the Mountain. I like that “balancing” look
Block #2 All things are possible This is what I say when I am trying to finish the last block of one quilt, and the third block of another quilt and on and on and on. I know all of us patterns in this happy quilt of life feel the same.
I think #8 is my favorite. I did like relearning to take time to hand embroider
I like #5 because I have always enjoyed pin wheels.
I like all the blocks. But my favorite is block #12.
Thank you so much for this sew along. Perfect for this time of chaos. Helped to have something to look forward to and made me feel like I accomplished something. Thank you❤️
I actually have 2 absolute favorite blocks … #4 Everyday is a Gift and #11 Climbing The Mountain. #4 has helped to remind me that every day is indeed a gift and to appreciate every single minute of the day and the nighttime too. #11 reminds me to continue to keep going and enjoy the views along the way. My hubby was diagnosed with lung cancer last fall, prior to this Covid-19 pandemic, so we have remained quarantined with the exception of doctoring and grocery shopping. A special quilt from these 2 blocks is in the making. I can’t begin to thank you enough for this marvelous sew-along. It’s helped both my husband and I through so much!
My very favorite has to be Box12, the Unity Star. Right now our country needs this with all that is happening, we need to stay united. This has been a fun time for me as I never thought I could quilt. It is not the greatest but quite a learning experience.
My favorite is block #12, the Unity Star. I love stars and this one is really pretty. Not too easy, not too hard. Thanks for a great sew along!! I have rediscovered a love for embroidery as I did the extra blocks.
My favorite block was #11, Climb the Mountain for several reasons. I feel like the pandemic has created a mountain (so to speak) to climb, but we will get to the summit; we live in the mountains so I just liked the reference, and, this was a new block for me! My friend is quilting along with me from a different state and it’s her first quilt…we are having fun connecting over the blocks!
Thanks for doing this during this time!!! I loved the process. This was my first mystery quilt along. I typically like to see the end product before i dive in! i took a chance and I love it!!! :)
I have liked all of them but like number twelve the most… it looks to be the most challenging! I have enjoyed all the background and reasons for the blocks every time, and have been creating a scrappy quilt and a Christmas one. Lots of half square triangle practice too!
Thanks for sponsoring this fun sew along!! It was my first!
I love all of the blocks but I think my favorite is block 8. Thanks for the giveaway.
I am a newbie with all this. I have done some embroidry work. I Iiked the extra blocks to add-Dance in the Rain or Sun. The Blocks with special meaning to me are “All Things are Possible”, “Don’t Worry Be Happy”, “Looking Up/Moving Forward”, and “Climbing the Mountain”. They all define my daily struggles, challenges, and victories!!. Thank you so much! For putting these patterns on line for free for people like me and others. God bless you.
I like block #5 ‘Don’t worry, be happy’ because pinwheels always look like a happy thing to me. Of the embroideries, I like the sentiment of #2 ‘Always look for the silver lining’. I think staying positive makes for a happier life! Thanks for the designs Jacquelynne!
My favorite if I have to pick just one…#8 “Into the Unknown” seems to sum up the current state of the world! I have very much enjoyed this sew along and thank you for sharing your talent and enthusiasm with us!
My favorite is #5. It is simple and a happy little block. Of course the fabric choice for all of them can make a difference in ones favorite. Love the embroidery samples too. I have gotten behind. Have 5 quilt block sets started. Only one set finished to this last block. I am doing them “quilt as you go” since my quilting machine has been the shop since the middle of March.
I loved every block but #11 was my favorite. So easy but looks so impressive! I haven’t done any embroidery work in at least 30 years but I gave the bonus blocks a try and am enjoying those as well.
I love the Don’t Worry, Be Happy block! It’s something I need to say to myself every day. Pinwheels represent summer to me. Carefree and fun. I really love the embroidery patterns too! Thank you so much for this great project in this difficult time
Hi Jacquelynne! Thank you for the amazing sew along! I have truly enjoyed every bit of it and learned so much. Making friends online during this trying time has been a blessing! My favorite block is hard to choose, but I guess #8 Into The Unknown. It looks complicated, but I found I could replicate it without too much trouble and the results are beautiful!
My favorite block is number 2, “All Things are Possible” because it’s not difficult! Also the Bible verse related to it is my favorite verse so definitely the block is going to be my favorite! I have downloaded all the blocks because I plan to make them all sometime; however, at the present time I am working on masks for my grand kids with their favorite prints on them.
I loved the embroidery blocks that went along with the pieced blocks. It has been a long time since I did embroidery and now I remember how much I enjoyed it.
I’m really enjoying the embroidery. But love them all. How did time fly?
I liked the pinwheel pattern but I thinks #12 is going to be my favorite. I will give me lots of practice as I am making 4 of each block. I tend to go for large pieces and this project has helped me not be afraid of the small ones. I love that you included the embroidery patterns. I did not use them, but have a plan in mind for this winter. Thanks so much for offering this fun project. You made me branch out of my comfort zone. It has been amazing to see everyone’s project and all the support given.
The last block, i love stars, but the last block means it is almost finished. Bittersweet, I loved your quilt along , loved your blocks, most of all loved the uplifting sayings included in the pattern. I never embroidered, but I find i want to do more. loved it too. Thank you so much, i hope to do another quilt along with you in the future.
I like block 5 best, something about those cute pinwheels!
I enjoyed making all the blocks. Whilst working on a complicated quilt it was good to stop for one day each week to do a simple block and relaxing to stitch the embroidery in the evenings. Am looking forward to putting it all together.
I enjoyed all of them, but I think I like the log cabin the best, with the different sizes of pieces. I love being a part of your Silver Linings. Thank you.
I’d say I liked the embroidery blocks. Something I haven’t done in quite a while. I’m eager to integrate them with the rest of the quilt blocks. Additionally, I’m amazed at the number of quilters working on this mystery!
#11 … I think it would a make a very interesting scrap quilt.
I love the all roads lead home block. Cause home is where you are always most loved.
I think I enjoyed the #9 and #11 blocks the best, but I haven’t made block #12. I love star blocks, so I will probably have to change my mind. The flying geese blocks have always been so hard for me, even with your suggestions, but I got them finished. Thanks so much for doing this for us. Block 9 was fun for me, and I enjoyed getting all the points to match up. Block 11 was sweet with all the different fabrics making up the triangle.
My favorite block is Block 11, Climbing the Mountain. Love the look of this block and will be using it plenty in the future. Thank you so much for this sew along. It really brightened up these past few months. Also, the embroidery blocks were fabulous.
I liked all the blocks, but #9 really spoke to me – “All Roads Lead Home.” It looked like rays of sunshine behind a cross – a much needed reminder of the road I need to take! Thank you for all your hard work.
As far as ease of construction is concerned, I like #11 the best. It went together quickly. My least favorites have been the ones with half square triangles, but I do love how they look once made.
Like Block 3
Into the unknown is my favorite block. I love the idea of the block as why don’t go into the unknown bravely and try something new! I also like it as a block because it would be great as an eye spy quilt block with many fabrics in the centre.
I liked #8. I was using a charm pack for most of the blocks and I could use a couple of them for this one – and the last one too- star blocks are always good!
I have enjoyed this event and can’t say I really have a favorite number. I have been able to keep up (and that is great). Also, I have learned soooo much and want to say thanks for doing it. Cant wait to put it all together-this will be a learning experience for me.
The Unity Star is my favorite because we all need some Unity right now!
I liked the Don’t Worry, Be Happy block the best. It is definitely
appropriate for these trying days, and we need to keep reminding ourselves. Even when I made a mistake on one of my blocks, I had to remind myself! Thank you again for doing this sew-along, it was great to have something new to do during the last few months, even though I am behind. I am working to get caught up these next couple of weeks!
I liked block #8, “Into the Unknown”, because I was able to use several of my colored scraps, and was really happy with the results. I love all the uplifting “themes” in each block, especially during these somewhat dark months we’ve all experienced.
It has been especially fun hearing so many positive comments, and making new sewing friends from all over the world!
I have enjoyed all he blocks and have learned so much from all the folks in this group.
Its great to see all the places in the world and the ages of those who are doing this project. It has been so much fun as I am still learning the process of cutting and sewing and ripping out. Block 11 was my biggest challenge but i think it was my most rewarding because it taught me that there are so many ways to make a block. This has been an awesome journey and shows we can all be united no matter where in this world we are and race, gender or age has no restrictions we are all one united by thread and an enjoyment of sewing.
I’m a star block lover, so #12 is immediately my favorite. Any star, every star, and then you just topped it off with the little umbrella in the center. A star can always guide you home where you are unconditionally loved.
My favorite block was #7, I love a churn dash! The whole process was a learning experience and it showed us all what we could accomplish together!!!!!
You have managed to put together a project that makes choosing ONE favorite block absolutely impossible for me. But, three of them stand out to me because of their symbolism.
I like Block #1, Trust the Journey, for a couple of reasons. First, as we embarked upon this sew-along, that’s exactly what you asked us to do. You asked us to trust that we would find this to be an enjoyable, uplifting, learning experience. Second, I’ve had to start over so-o-o many times in my life; but, through it all, I’ve found I always need to be able to trust the journey, to believe in the possibilities, and to know that everything will be okay.
Block #5 – Don’t Worry, Be Happy: This time it’s the design itself. Like you, the pinwheel reminds me of movement. Without it, the journey’s over before it ever began, and one might as well dig a hole and crawl in.
Block #11 – Climbing the Mountain: Growing up in the Berkshires and the Adirondacks, I climbed many mountains in my youth. As an adult, standing at the foot of the mountain, I knew the journey I trusted was almost done; and, from that point, I had nowhere else to go but up.
So, thank you for this sew-along. It’s been a treasure at a time when some of us needed a worthwhile distraction.
My favorite block was #6. I’m a new quilter, and that was my first experience with a HST. Your instructions made it EASY.
Oops! Just looked at the list – I meant #5! But then I got to practice my HST in the next 4 blocks, so that was really helpful too.
I liked 11 as I had never made that type of block and it was fun to pick the smaller pieces to balance the larger HST
I’m not making this quilt, but my girls (ages 13 and 8) are. They loved block 5. It was quick and easy and they enjoyed working to get their fabrics to face just so.
My favorite block is #11 because of the message/name you attached to it. Having gone through some unhappy years, I know the meaning of having to CHOOSE JOY. There are so many things to be happy about! I also liked the simplicity of the block design. Thank you for having the sew-along; I learned I can piece more ambitious block designs and feel more confident about my skills.
I’ve really enjoyed this project. My favorite was climb every mountain. I like the potential for using up scrap fabrics.
My favorite block was the very first one because it started me in the way to making 3 quilts for my future great-grandchildren. I’ve love doing the blocks every week and hoping that you’ll do another one sometime soon. Thank you
I love all of the blocks but have two favorites. All Roads Lead Home block 9 and Let’s Sing a Song of Cheer Again embroidery block. I am behind on my blocks but look forward to completing them this summer.
I really liked block 10 as it is the first time my flying geese have turned out well. I love Jacquelynne’s method of doing them. I haven’t finished block 11 or 12 yet as I am in the middle of another project and need to get it done first. I am still working on the embroidery blocks and I think the Umbrella one is the cutest of those. I can’t wait to finish this quilt and use it!
I just found this sew along. I can’t wait to start it. I love the Unity Star block. I have always loved star blocks and the name Unity has a special meaning right now. I also can’t wait to look at the bonus embroidery ones
The JOY block! (Friday, July 24) I have a daughter named Joy; I love Christmas Carols about JOY; I’m a musician at my church & love songs & choruses about JOY–still remember old Sunday School songs about JOY (I’ve got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy, down in my heart! JOY! And, seeing the JOY block made me smile, and brought me JOY! :) THANK YOU for a nice sew along! :)
I think the 1st block was my favorite because it taught me that I could do this. I have friends that are qulting “divas” and I thought it would be too difficult because of what I’d seen of their work, but I learned that one step at at time, step by step I could learn it. I’m enjoying both the process and the product.
I liked Block Three because it makes me think of giving which I why I like to make quilts….I’ve yet to keep one for myself!
The quilt along has been so enjoyable and I’m said to see it end.

#5 is my favorite block. This was my first sew a long and my first attempt at blocks. And wow, what fun it was. Monday is now my favorite day of the week. I learned so much. Some blocks were easier then others but the more challenging the block was, the more I enjoyed it. And let me say, I REALLY enjoyed this block (if you know what I mean. Hahaha!) I think I want to do a quilt of all pinwheels/dont worry, be happy.
Thank you for the weekly sew a long and all the great instructions.

I like block #1 the 9 patch the best. 9 patches remind me of my Granny. The only pieced quilts she made were 9 patches. She made 4, one for each of my daughters, when they were quite young. I still have two of them. They are falling apart and cannot be repaired, but I can’t seem to let them go. Thanks for doing this mystery.

My favorite block in the sew along was Block #12 – Unity Star. We are faced with so much uncertainty these days, it would be wonderful if the whole world would unite for the betterment of all of us. Thank you for sharing all these beautiful blocks. I have truly enjoyed making each block and seeing all the different colors people use on their blocks.
My favorite block is #2, All Things Are Possible (Log Cabin Block). Easy to piece. Lots of possibilities. Thanks for the sew-along and the giveaways! It’s been so much fun.
My favorite block was #8. I have always avoided blocks with lots of pieces like this, buty you made it so simple that I cannot wait to make a whole quilt with them. The possibilities are limited only by my imagination and fabric stash. lol
My favorite is Block #4. Everyday is a Gift., because I lost my firstborn son at the end of March 2020 after a 5 year battle with cancer. Everyday of his 59 years was a gift to me. That block will always remind me of him
My favorite is Climb the Mountain!
Block 2 is a favorite of mine. I like the simplicity of the block, but yet it has movement to it. It has been my favorite go to block since I use a lot of jellyrolls. Block 11 comes in a close 2nd. It may be a new favorite. Guess I am partial to strip piecing.
My favorite block from this sew along is bonus embroidery block # 2.
This is my mantra. I always try to find the bright side of a a situation.
Of the 12 blocks from the Silver Linings Sew Along, my favorite is block 12 for a couple of reasons. To begin with, Unity is what is needed in our world…our lives right now. It seems as if this turmoil within the US is tearing us apart, and we need to pull together to make this world a better place ~ that place of Joy that was in the embroidery block. The other reason why I especially like the Unity block is because I am able to put together so many of the new things I learned while participating in the Sew Along and for me, Unity in my family is important. The star leads to the Unity that I desire. Thank you so much for everything you have taught me and provided each of us along this journey.
My favorite block is #5. I like the pinwheel because you can use complimentary fabrics that can make the color pop. I also like pinwheels because they remind me of the ones I played with in the summer as a child.
#3 is adorable!! My absolute favorite!
I like block 10 because it looks so hard yet it’s easy to do & it’s showcases your skills & fabric.
I love #5, don’t worry, be happy! First, the name alone is so much fun! In these trying times, we must wake everyday and say— “don’t worry, be happy”
And second, who doesn’t love HST!
So, with that, I hope I win!
I really have loved doing all the blocks, but 11 and 12 are my favorites. If I had to pick one though I would go with 11 since it has so many possibilities in design, corners etc! Thanks for giving this fun project. It has been great to see everyone’s choices of fabric and placement.
I like block 2 because it was fun to put together and I got it perfect the first time. ?
I liked block 9 and block 12 because of how they look and because of their name and what those names mean to me.
I’ve loved all your blocks but #3 stood out for me bkz I can use a larger feature fabric, ie fuzzy cut flower, for the center. That really appealed to me. The embroidery blocks are adorable and inspirational, but not something I’d do at this time. Altogether I’ve enjoyed following other quilters and seeing their fabric choices were inspiring.
Block 12 is my favorite. Stars have always been a favorite block for me. And I love the name Unity Block. I think I will make two, one with the heart and one without. I had so much fun with this sew a long. I used the Singing in the Rain fabric and loved the way the blocks turned out.
Such a great sew along at a difficult time. Have looked forward every week to the blocks. I had a hard time choosing my favourite, but I’m going for the pinwheel – I love its movement.
I think my favorite was #11 – I like how your instructions are to make this block. I could see a whole quilt of them!
My favorite block is “Climbing the Mountain.” It’s a versatile block that can be configured many ways.
Block 12 is my favorite. As this sew-along has progressed, each block has been my favorite! I want a square table topper, so now I have the daunting task of choosing which ones to duplicate. This has been a most enjoyable journey. Thank you!
My favorite is #10, “Looking Up” or “Moving Forward” because they are both positive thoughts. Your way of making flying geese made it easier. Thank you!
I liked doing all the blocks, but I pick number one as my favorite. Not for the simplicity of it to do, but because the simplicity brought in so many first timers to a sew along. It is always nice to see people try. Just try. And when they do, they get to enjoy this wonderful community of quilters.
Hi! I loved doing these blocks – some I’ve never done before so it really stretch me and made me try something new. My favorite is block #2 because “All things are possible through Jesus Christ my LORD.”
Thank you!
I really enjoyed the embroidery blocks! I had watched my mom do them, but never tried it myself. Was exciting to try and learn something new! Plus they’re so pretty!!
Thank you for this pleasant distraction from worry. I think block number 12 is my favorite because working with small pieces is a challenge for me. Also, I haven’t done embroidery in a long time, so I will be trying those blocks next. I think you are making a lot of people happy with this project.
I have had so much fun with this quilt along! I didn’t know I could make quilt blocks successfully, thank you! My favorite was block 8.
I like the last block best, the Unity block as I think we need to keep that in the forefront going forward. I also simply love star blocks!
Thank you for this very fun and uplifting sew-along!
I actually loved them all! Loved #11 because you can you use scraps that you have to make it. Just think of climbing through your mountain of stash and finding the pieces for this block. If that makes sense. But all these blocks have been wonderful. You are very creative!!
My favorite block is number 11. I’ve never seen this block before and like the way it looks. This is my first quilting project ever. Thank you for the experience.
“Every Day us a Gift” is my favorite. The quote from Winnie the Pooh resonated with me during this sew along and the situation we are dealing with. It didn’t matter what day it was, if I had the opportunity to sew or embroidery, it was my favorite day
#4…because “EVERYDAY IS A GIFT”
I really like block number 12. I just love any kind of star blocks!
I enjoyed all of the blocks but since I am new to quilting I had never done triangles in my quilting at all. I especially liked block 9 because I could fussy cut some of my sea life fabric for the squares and use other sea colors for the half square triangles.
I loved this sew along! My favorite block, believe it of not, is the Don’t Worry Be Happy, block #5. I have had significant challenges lately so I really related to it. It is my motto now!
Block #10 was my favorite! Never have been able to get this pattern right, but working with all these other patterns made this a cinch. Thank you for taking us on this trip. I hope to have more chances to learn from you in the future!
Block #10 ‘looking up’ was my favourite. Flying Geese was the first patchwork I attempted 25 years ago and it took me back to a happy time. The title also reminded me of a greeting card I brought some years ago and still refer to – “I made you a kite so you would have to look up – things will get better” – will need to make a quilt of it one day…
My favorite is #12 because it fits with where I live-Roanoke VA the “star city of the south” so named because of all the movie stars that were born here years ago. We actually have a very big light up star that’s an icon.
No. 11 was my favorite – look up. Love flying geese blocks and the sentiment! Thanks. Enjoyed this very much!
My favorite block is Beacon of Hope. It reminds me to be hopeful for a speedy end to the pandemic. I also love the way the fabric (umbrellas, rainboots) supports the name as well (hope for sun on a rainy day).
Block 10. Flying geese are my favorite!
I love number 8. Every one was different from the others. They looked like different patterns Just as we are made up of the same stuff we too are all different yet the same. Thanks for a great distraction during this difficult time
My favorite is #6 Beacon of Hope. These times are a challenge and this Block and Sew Along is the way I am getting through these challenges. Quilting is my hope.
I love block #9….all roads lead to home. Home and family are so important right now but family has always been the most important thing to me because my husband and I taught on American military bases overseas for over 25 years and I was always so excited to “come home” for the summer. Thank you for your generosity and willingness to share with us all.
Block #12 was my absolute favorite. I am thrilled with how it cam out.
Block 11. Loved the way it cut out.
My favorite block is #4, Everyday is a gift. It was very easy to do and came out so nice. I loved reading that many were adding a bow to the middle block to make it look even more like a gift. I am always grateful that I am given another day to create more beautiful things to give to my family.
I enjoyed all the blocks, I haven’t made them yet as unable to get fabric due to Covid 19. I think when I finally get to make them, block 2, all things are possible will be my favorite, It looks easy. And the Rainbow embroidery block is my favorite.
I like block number 12, because I like stars!
Pattyweekley@hotmail.com I think that #1, Trust the Journey, is my favorite for many reasons. We learned to trust the instructions, wonderfully done and we learned to trust ourselves, not an easy task. I have so enjoyed the work of so many hands that put this project together and the wonderful work of all the sewers around the world for sharing their gifts in pictures.
I like # 10 it showed me any easy way to make flying geese.I really enjoyed the embroidery
ones that I could do while watching tv.kberlyak@gmail.com
I want to say I have never done a sew-along that was such fun. Everyone seemed so kind. Thank you.
Now…my favorite block was #6…Beacon of Hope…for a few reasons.
First reason is the block was easily made. *smile*
Second reason is that I feel we should all be a beacon of hope for our families and friends.
Third reason is this sew-along became a beacon of hope for me during a very stressful time for my family.
Again thank you. I hope you do more of these sew-alongs. I will be here.
My favorite block is #8, Into The Unknown. I loved the concept of the name and the intricacies of the finished block. Plus, the quotes included in the instructions really had meaning for me. Thank you for this uplifting themed project.
I love the 12th block unity star. My block turned out beautiful! I love this whole quilt. I’ve been shashing it all morning.
Thank you for doing this! Quilting has been my refuge during ‘stay-at-home.’ My favorite block is #12. It pushed me to test skills that I haven’t used before.
I liked block #8 the best. “Into the Unknown”. Just was a fun block for me, and pretty much sums up my life right now.
My favorite is the Unity Star, block 12. I like that a heart can be put in the center. Just the thought that together we can do so much! I also enjoyed making the embroidery blocks.
My favorite block is #11. I love how much pop it has for how simply it came together.
My favorite embroidery block was somewhere over the rainbow, so bright and happy.
Hope I win!
I love #12 the best. I love how using a neutral really makes the star shine. And the center is just perfect for a fussy cut block. The example is so pretty!
Block 5 – Don’t worry, Be Happy is my favorite block. The pinwheel is a happy reminder of the simple joys of childhood. Was always leery of starting this block, but your instructions made it simple and fun! I’ll definitely be doing more if these.
I really liked #10. Actually I really liked all of them. I’m so glad I found this FB page and have had so much fun reading everyone’s comments and seeing everyone’s squares. I have a friend who lives in another state and we have spent several hours on the phone looking through all the pictures of the work. I hope this will happen again. This has been something wonderful during this trying time we’re all going through. Hugs to everyone and keep on quilting.
Torn between Block 9, All Roads Lead to Home, and Block 12, Unity. Going to go with Block 9 because there’s no place like Home! Thank you for them all!
The block I like best is #8. The prints and colors in it combined to make such a pretty, creative design. Thank you for your excellent instructions and your encouraging words at the beginning of each weekly pattern. I will miss your Monday mystery blocks.
I like Block #2. I can tie in all the colors of the quilt in this one block.
cindywestover@comporium.net
I’m automatically drawn to star blocks so it has to be #12. My goal is to one day make a “quilt of stars”. Thank you for your generosity and kindness in this crazy time of our lives. It’s so important to me to be in touch with people who understand the meaning of caring and sharing.
Back 9 All Roads lead home, because I believe home is where the heart is. I love my home and spending time there creating. Cheers!!
I love them all but I think block 6 Beacon of Hope is my favorite. It’s such a simple block but can have a big impact and would look great in mulitples.
I just loved all the blocks. Block #11 I had never done so it was new to me. My favorites of all where the embroidery blocks. I forgot how much I loved to do embroidery. Then I used my crayons and water color pencils. Made me feel like a child again during a time that is not so happy. I was doing three of every square so I could make some Christmas presents. It really brought joy to my heart.
My favorite block was #11, because it was unique and I love the name and premise behind it. I’ve always loved the song “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus and I feel that it’s an important message during this time – we are being presented by challenges on many fronts, and it’s important that we keep rising to the challenge, climbing to overcome our fears, our prejudices and our personal obstacles. I have loved this process. Thank you for your creative designs and inspiring messages.
My favorite block is # 4. My son passed away suddenly on July 19th. We all need to remember that “Everyday is a Gift”.
This was my first sew a long and I really enjoyed it! My favorite block is block 11.
I enjoyed all the blocks, but I especially liked the embroidery blocks. It’s been nice to re-connect with the joy of hand embroidery! Thanks for creating such a fun project. I’ll be watching for the next one :)
I’m new to quilting and still waiting for my new sewing machine to arrive. I’m going to start with block 1 since it looks the easiest and then work my way through the rest. They’re all great!
I love block #9. It’s easier for some of us than the others. But the others are awesome too.
My sister and I decided to do this together remotely. She lives in Arizona and I in California. It’s been fun to show each other our finished blocks and race to see who wins first! My favorite block is block 12 because I can hardly wait to finish a project! I’m a completer!
I love block #8, it was easy to turn the half-square triangles in the corner the wrong direction and create a totally different look! This sew along has been so much fun. I loved the bonus project and was able to complete it in 6 hours. I learned to stitch in the ditch with a walking foot on this project. The embroidery blocks were fun! I hadn’t embroidered in many years! I look forward to doing more sew-a-longs! roots_digger@yahoo.com
I loved block number 10 because I could use a lot of my scraps. Thanks for all of the great patterns.
Although I loved them all, I believe my favorite was the last one, #12. While sewing all the small pieces together it made me think of the theme, “Unity Star” and the quotations you mentioned in the instructions. Alone (each small cut of fabric) can do little, but when sewn together can do so much. And when we complete our projects our squares will no longer be separated or divided but will stand together as one beautiful quilt (or nation). ♥ ♥ ♥ Thank you for all your guidance & inspiration.
Block 5 is my favorite since I like pinwheel pattern quilts. Its such a fun block to look at and a simple design.
My favorite block is #5, Don’t Worry Be Happy. I love the simplicity of this block. It reminds me of my very simple childhood running down the street as fast as I could run with a pinwheel in my hand raised high in the air for it to spin. Oh to be a child again.
My favorite block is #7. Today and tomorrow . I just like how it looks .
I like block #12 best because I like stars! This has been a great sew along, thanks jacquelynne for the fun!
Jenny in Florida
I love the block entitled “All roads lead home “ because of the sentiment. It’s so pretty too!! Thanks for these weekly blocks. I made 4 versions (different combinations of fabrics) of each block. Gonna be pretty.
I love block 12. Stars are my thing right now. I love all of your embroidery patterns and the very versatile little quilt pattern was wonderful! Thank you for doing this upbeat sew along during this time. Thank you also for the inspiring quotes as to how you came up with the name of the blocks!
mbbaker35@yahoo.com
My favorite block is #11. This is the first time I have ever done any type of sew along and it was great fun. I was always a hand quilter. I did all the block drawings and cutting by hand. I was afraid to try to try to do the piecing by machine, It took a little patience but it got better week by week. Now I don’t think I could work without a rotary cutter and my new machine. I found help for every issue I didn’t understand, so thanks for allowing me to join the club. I think I will stick with it and really get my skills honed with everyone else. The only issue I have is posting pictures. I’ve taken them but will have to get a grand child to help me post.
Thank you so much!!
I loved block 8- into the unknown. I’d thought about trying this block before, and wasn’t sure if I could do it! I’ve loved this sew a long. Thank you for the journey!
I loved this whole sew along. The blocks were simple to sew and the instructions were great. If I had to pick just one , it would be #12. I love stars.I am always amazed at how the pieces fit together and you end up with a beautiful star, but I guess that’s the whole lesson here. Thank you, I really enjoyed this.
I’m an old fashioned girl! #8 Into the Unknown (churn dash) is my favorite. Simple yet requires you to be precise. Thank you for doing this quilt-a-long. Hopefully the first of many!
How sweet of you! A free quilt along, and now prizes! Wonderful prizes! A difficult choice, as I have enjoyed all of the blocks! But I love the name of #6, Beacon of Hope, and the block is adorable. Thank you for this uplifting experience! :-) God Bless you.
Though I have loved all the blocks in the Silver Linings Sew Along, number 12 is my favorite. I love anything with stars!! This has been such a positive fun project to get through these times. I have completed these blocks doing a virtual sew date with my best friend, which has made it even more special.
Block 8, Into the Unknown, speaks volumes. It says where we are every moment of our life. We are not guaranteed another day, hour, or moment on this earth…so we step off confident in the promises of the One who is in charge, God!
My favorite block is #9, “All Roads Lead Home,” because of the arrangement of the different fabrics, which point in every direction, indicating that each one of us find the comfort of “home” in our own way. It’s a place that I am happy and thankful to be, especially in these uncertain times. I am also thankful that I love to sew and do all types of needlework, because, I can truthfully say that I never use the word “bored”…ever!!
I like the unity star! It’s more challenging and I also love what it stands for. Hope, in the future, we do see our country a lot more unified! Thanks so much or the quilt a long. It has been wonderful fun!
How sweet of you! A free quilt along, and now prizes! Wonderful prizes! A difficult choice, as I have enjoyed all of the blocks! But I love the name of #6, Beacon of Hope, and the block is adorable. Thank you for this uplifting experience! :-) God Bless you.
I absolutely enjoyed my relaxing nights of embroidery. All the patterns were beautiful and allowed me to be creative with them and make them all my own with beads, metallic flosses, sequins and a great variety of embroidery stitches. My favorite quilting block was #8 “Into the Unknown” because it allowed me to show off all the stunning fabrics I am using. My quilt will be scrappy with many shades of blues, grays and whites and pops of color in the embroidery. It will be a family treasure.
Thank you Jacquelynne for the wonderful weekly gifts that shared your many talents. We are all blessed to be a part of a special memory of how we all made the most of things by using our creativity. God Bless the work of all our hands.
I love hand embroidery, so naturally my choice ran to the Bonus Blocks. My favorite is “Always looking for a silver lining”. Thank you so much for all your hard work and sharing with us.
I really enjoyed this sew-along. My favorite block is #8-“Into the Unknown”. In these uncertain times, it is important to be kind to yourself, be kind to others, and take that leap of faith each day “Into the Unknown”.
I stumbled across this sew-a-long on Facebook. I have so enjoyed the “little quilt” and have really enjoyed seeing the posts on facebook. My favorite block so far has been Block “Into the unknown” – Although I have been saving a special piece of fabric for block 12 “unity star” which will help bring all the other block together. I can’t wait to get off work and retreat to my sewing room.
I have had so much fun with this sew along. I have to say this last block #12 is my favorite just because it is a little more challenging. They are all fun though.
I decided on block #11. Climbing the Mountain. It looks very easy and also looks a little like Strip piecing, which is something I have been wanting to try! Thank you for the patterns!
I love all the blocks, but if I really have to choose just one it would have to be #5 as I live in the California desert surrounded by beautiful mountain’s but with that comes a lot of wind so #5 fits my hometown beautifully. Thank you so much for a wonderful treat durning this trying time.
Thanks Jacquelynne for doing this quilt-along. There was something new waiting in my email box to do. Your directions were simple. I enjoyed seeing everyone’s quilts as they progressed. Although block 5 was an easy block, I love the psychedelic look of my completed block. There were many fabric decisions from my stash to keep my mind picturing the final outcome. I spent my gardening days working hard. But as soon as the heat of the day was upon us, I would rush to my studio to begin a new block! Thank you for making my home stay during the pandemic fun!
love star blocks, so of course the favorite is Unity Star….have really enjoyed using scraps for this sew along – I hope the quilt turns out as happy as it’s made me doing it.
I like block 2 because of the way it seems to be turning around.
I am not sure which one I liked best but I think #5. I love the way it turned out and it was probably my best one with the scraps I chose. I enjoyed all of them and this has been a really enlightening sew along. I learned so much about quilting, iron vs press, scant 1/4 in, picking colors to arrange them (even if they were scraps). I learned about matching seams, which way to press them so they lie flat and it was truly a great experience for me. Thanks for putting up with me. I got a little frustrated a couple of times but the team helped me through. It was an Awesome experience. Even after 55+ years of sewing.
My favorite block was number 11. I liked it because you can showcase one of your favorite fabrics. It also can be turned multiple was to make many different quilt patterns. It is very versatile.
My favorite blocks were the embroidery blocks. As a child, my quilts always had embroidered blocks, and I loved to watch as they came to life with needle and thread!
Hello – My favorite block was #5, Don’t worry Be Happy. This is my first attempt at a quilt with defined blocks, instead of just cutting out blocks that are the same size for each one and sewing them together. When I saw this block, I thought…”Well there goes it for me, I can’t do that”. I followed the instructions, watched what other’s did and posted and when I pieced it all together and ironed it…..and IT WORKED!!! I had faith that I could move forward and keep learning, not feeling defeated before I ever started. So thank you so much all of you for that.
Block #10 Flying Geese I have always loved this block and like to incorporate it into my quilts.
I loved all the blocks, especially appreciated the instruction. I think learning half square triangles helped me a lot. Am going to miss my Monday mornings looking to see what is the “New Block”. Thank you so much for giving us something else to think about and take our minds off the Pandemic! Truly appreciate, May God Bless! ❤️
My favorites were the pinwheel and the #12 the star. As a newbie quilter I found them the most challenging and therefore the most rewarding. Thank you for this sew along – it took me from watching videos of tutorials to actually sewing!!!
I truly loved all the blocks, but my favorite is today’s Unity Star block 12. I have always loved the Ohio Star block and this reminds me of it. I can’t tell you how much I have looked forward to seeing the new block each week and bonus embroidery patterns. Thank you!!
blh5254@gmail.com
As a beginner I learned a lot with this sew along. Not all of my blocks are perfect but I love them. I think 10 is my favorite.
My favorite one is block 10, because I’m a beginner and this was my first time with that block. It is also my first sew along and I’m so excited with my results. Thanks
Thanks so much for this fun quilt along! I enjoyed all the blocks; but if I need to pick just one favorite, I’ll say #11 climbing the mountain. I can see myself using this over and over for a fun variety of quilt designs.
Thanks again – can’t wait to put it all together!
I like #12, the Unity Star. Quilts that feature star blocks are my favorites.
I like “Don’t Worry Be Happy” because I’m practicing on my half square triangles and love the pinwheels.
block 5 was my favorite. first time I finally got my points to be perfect without pulling out what hair I have left. I’m going to put embroidery patterns on dish towels for my granddaughter. glad i joined!
# 6 is my favorite quilt block. I loved some cuz they made me work, some were beautiful, but then I went back & read the meanings behind the quilt blocks. “Hope keeps us alive, moving forward, even in the darkest nights.” I needed this so badly. Thank you. This is my favorite.
My favorite block is #12 the Unity Star. This block was more complex and challenging but it is my favorite one to look at. I have learned so much doing this sew along. I feel I have become a better sewer. Thank you! Can’t wait to do another one.
My favorite is number 3, I liked to fussy cut the middle to show case special fabric. I am still behind but will get in order soon. I ended up with 6 colorways to work with and have 4 -6 quilts depending on what I want to add after seeing next week’s layout. Thanks so much!
oops – guess I forgot the name…Becky Fritts
I loved the challenge of the whole project. I liked the pinwheel block #5 because it looked so great when I finally got it right. Your instructions have been wonderfully clear for a newbie like me. Thanks!
Block 12, Unity block is my favorite. I love star blocks but the fact it’s named Unity was significant to me during this pandemic.
I have really enjoyed making all of these blocks! My favourite has always been the Pinwheel as in Block #5 – It reminds me to enjoy the journey with God. Which brings me to Block # 4 – the Gift. Every new day is a new gift and God’s mercies are new every morning. This little quilt will be a reminder to give thanks every day with a grateful heart.
Thank you, Jacquelynne (and Chris) for giving us a weekly gift. I also appreciate the embroideries – I have renewed my skills in that area! I wish you joy and blessings in all you do!
#9. But they all are great. Also the embroidery blocks go very well with all the blocks
I pick bonus block #1 “trust in the journey” because It made me feel like I could do it! But I also loved the first bonus block “Somewhere over the rainbow” because it reminded me not only that I know how to embroider but that I love it! Thanks for doing this! IT WAS SO AWESOME! Lana@Osmun.net
My favorite is #5 – Don’t Worry, Be Happy. I like pinwheels.
I love stars. I find them challenging and rewarding at the same time. The second quilt that I ever made (for my daughter’s graduation) was all stars. Block 12 – The Unity Star is a perfect ending. It brought all the blocks together for me. I also liked Block 8 – Into the Unknown because it simply caught my eye, but the favorite is Block 12. The embroidery blocks were a nice twist- combining the two different types of blocks. Thank you so much for this sew along. Quilting is relaxing for me. Using from a fabric stash is always a treat. Life has been a little different lately and this was a pleasant distraction.
I loved 9 and 11. Instructions were very easy to follow. I so appreciated the extra blocks we got to embroider. Hopefully this will be a quilt.
I loved all of the blocks and it’s hard to pick a favorite. However, I must say that Block #8, Into the Unknown says it all. We have to trust in God every day of our lives. Thank you so much for this sew-along. lexi@bellaliant.net
I liked #12 the unity block. The idea of unity is presented in the block-all those different pieces work together to make a star, just as different people work together for a common goal. It seems fitting for our current times.
Block 11, Climbing the Mountain, is the one I liked the best. It was the block I have never made and when I did complete it I was really happy with it.
I like both the look and sentiment of number 4 — this quilt along has been a gift I have given myself during quarantine.
? the sew along… it was really hard to decide between #10 #11 and #12
But I think I’m going to pick #10 “Looking up/Moving forward ” because of it helping me make better flying geese block. Thank you for the sew along. ???
Hoping that you will do a Halloween one soon ?
Thank you, Jacqueline, for giving us something to look forward to each week! My favorite block is #6–Beacon of Hope. Hope is exactly what we need to get through this pandemic.
Thanks for the sew along. It was the first one I have ever done and it was fun. My favorite block is #2. I wasn’t sure about sewing all the short strips together and hoping they all come out the right size. Then I read the directions and found out I only had to sew the 3 strips together and cut ?
My favorite block was Block #4 because I truly believe Every day is a gift. It was a fun block. I have had so much fun with this sew along. Love the size and great directions
I especially like block #9, All Roads Lead Home, though I love them all! We’ve all spend
so much time at our homes in recent months — that truly resonates with me. This is
a delightful group of pieced blocks and darling embroidery blocks. Many thanks!
I’d love to be able to have some of the Singing in the Rain fabric fat quarters. Just sayin’.
For the times we are living in now, Beacon of Hope, #6 just seem appropriate. We all need to remember that there is hope and a new day ahead. Thanks for helping to develop a sense of community when so many are feeling isolated.
I love bonus wall hanging, remind me that beautiful song. Just collecting all those blocks, too many Sal and Qal around.
I loved doing all of them but my favorites would be dancing in the rain Embroidery block and block 5. Thank you for hosting this wonderful fun party.
My favorite is block #3 Sing in the Rain. I was watching the movie Singing in the Rain when I saw this pattern so fitting. It is raining at my house now so ironic. I really like it thank you for the free patterns.
There are too many blocks to choose for a favorite. I think I like block #12, Unity Star the best. I also love all the embroidery patterns. I haven’t done any embroidery in a long time, so it was fun to do again.
I loved them all! I especially liked block #4 – “Every Day is a Gift” because I truly believe that every day is a gift from God! I also like how mine came out as I did a fussy cut of a flower for the center of the center square! Thanks for providing this opportunity!
My Favorite was #9. All Roads Lead Home. Have both my boys home, safe with us.
Thank you for the Sew Along.
My favorite block is number 5 – “don’t worry be happy”. I have truly loved this sew along! Thank you so much!
I have enjoyed this project immensely. My favorite block is All Roads Lead to Home. I used fabric from my stash and spent a lot of time selecting fabrics that added personal meaning to your name and inspiration for each block. So fun!
I liked block #11, climbing the mountain, best. I would like to do a quilt with this one block. Thanks for all the block patterns?
