Want to see how many different quilts you can make using just Block #1 from the Cozy Afternoon Free Block of the Month?? Today, I thought I’d show you some options for things you can do with only ONE block. If you did our last BOM, Sew Sweet Simplicity, you remember that there were a lot of HSTs to make and trim. The block patterns for this BOM will go together much more quickly (I made the embroidery/applique options for Cozy Afternoon a little more detailed than Sew Sweet Simplicity, so I decided to make the piecing simpler.)

Because the block piecing will go together quickly for this one, you may decide that you want to make a lot of extra blocks! This is what the appliqued version of Block #1 will look like:

Below you will find some designs that I put together in my EQ7 program, using only Block #1.

By doing the very simple piecing in the above block, you could make this cute table runner in happy colors. (We’ll call this one “A”):

You could take the same blocks shown above and make a quilt (“B”):

If you prefer a more traditional look, what about this red and blue quilt. I used assorted “low volume” prints for the strip pieces in the blocks and I used assorted reds for the block centers (“C”):Red and Blue Quilt 3 for Cozy Afternoon Block of the Month- Jacquelynne Steves

Here is the same quilt, using the same red for all of the block centers, and with sashing and red cornerstones added (“D”):

And here is the same quilt again, but this time I’ve added blue to the strip pieces in the blocks (“E”):

And here is one that I did, set on point, in Christmas colors (“F”):

So many options for just one block!! Which one is your favorite?? Let me know in the comments!
