So, this is a really fun issue! It started with an idea that I had for a pink and yellow table runner… hmmm…. pink and yellow makes me think of Strawberry Lemonade… a Strawberry Lemonade Table Runner pattern. As you can see in the photo below, I stipple quilted around the machine appliqued strawberry, and “stitched in the ditch” for the borders- since the project is fairly small, it’s easy to quilt on your home machine:
And, while I was making the table runner, I cut too many strips, and I couldn’t just throw them away, right? So I had to make a Strawberry Lemonade Mini Quilt as well! For this project, I decided to do “big stitch” quilting by hand with yellow embroidery floss. The stitches are about 1/4″ long and 1/4″ apart. I like the “home-y” look that it gives to the project. I made a big “X” through the pink squares, and along the white borders. A lot of you have told me that you are very anxious to make this project :)
And, well…. a Strawberry Lemonade cake sounds pretty tasty:
My friend Teresa at A Quilt and A Prayer designed this totally cute Bzzzy Bee pin cushion- don’t you want to make one of these?? The base is made from a vintage jar- perfect for holding notions like buttons and clips:
(Do you like the cute pins shown in the pin cushion above? You can get them on my website! Click here.)
I also interviewed Heather Valentine for the issue- Heather is the creative force behind The Sewing Loft website, where you will find tons of creative projects:
In this issue, you will find not one, but 2 embroidery patterns! Hmmm, what can you do with these? Maybe a cute pillow?
And as if that weren’t enough, in this issue we have announced the winner of our summer photo contest!!
Don’t forget- I LOVE seeing your projects! Please post your photos on my Facebook page, on Instagram and tag me @JacquelynneSteves, or you can email them to me at comments(at)JacquelynneSteves.com
