Phew!!! I have been hunkered down, sitting in my office, doing nothing but working on the Fall Issue of my e-magazine, The Art of Home! I feel like I’ve hardly seen the sun in a while! But…. I am coming to the finish line.
I really like putting together the magazine- gathering up ideas, seeing it take form, laying out the pages…. It is one of my favorite things to do. But you know how it is when you start something and the beginning is really exciting…. and the end when you finish it and see the final result is really satisfying….. but that MIDDLE part, when you are doing all of the hard work, is sometimes a pain and seems to go on foreeeeeevvvvveeeeerrrrrr! I love putting the finishing touches on the magazine & seeing the complete issue, and I’m almost there :)
As some of you know, this issue has been a long time coming. I had planned on doing a summer issue, but it never came together due to some family and personal issues that happened over the summer. Plus, my side-kick, oldest daughter Samantha, used to help me with it a lot- but now she has gotten a “real” full time job! So I was all on my own for this issue. I didn’t realize how much I depended on her to get this done until I had to do the whole thing on my own! (I appreciate you even more now, Sam! Come back, come back! ha ha.)
Something that I am really excited about is the inclusion of a new feature, The Designer Interview. I don’t know about you, but I love to get inside the head of other creative people, and learn about their process, inspiration, background, and advice. My very first guest for this new feature is Brenda Riddle! She is a fabric designer, quilt designer, and is now designing embroidery and cross stitch patterns. In my interview, we talk about her design process and how she recently made the leap from quilt and fabric design to needlework design. She is a super-talented designer, and also happens to be one of the nicest people I’ve ever met (don’t you just love it when you find out that someone you admire is actually a really nice person in real life?? So do I!!)
The magazine is scheduled to be sent out on October 1 (that’s just one week away!) You can get your FREE subscription here, if you haven’t already signed up.
At the end of many of my blog posts, I ask my readers to share my post through various social media outlets. I am asking that you would please share my e-magazine with family, friends, co-workers, anyone who you think might enjoy it. As you know, the issues are FREE, but I put an incredible amount of time and energy into them, trying to provide you with useful, inspiring, and beautiful content. I would really LOVE to increase the readership of my magazine. So here I am asking, PLEASE share it with your friends (I know I sound a bit like I’m begging here, because…… maybe I am, kind of!!) If you enjoy the magazine, I would truly appreciate your help in getting the word out! From my heart, THANK YOU!!
