A few weeks ago we did a survey to see how everyone is feeling and coping with our current world situation. I have to say, I wasn’t really surprised by our findings, it kind of confirmed what I had already been thinking.
Those of you have been following me for a while know that we do an annual free Block of the Month event, which seems to get bigger each year! The truth is, the quilt is designed, and we’ve already got the fabric for the kits… However, after much consideration, we have decided to postpone our Block of the Month. I just think that with all of the uncertainty, many don’t really want the commitment of starting a large project. Instead of doing the BOM this summer as originally planned, we’ll push it to the fall or early 2021.
But….. I’ve been a busy bee and I’ve put together a different sew along for everyone! This is going to be a Block of the Week, but the blocks are going to be so simple and easy! You can get most of these blocks done in an hour or less- I think most people can devote just an hour a week! For those of you who like hand work, I’ll be throwing in some bonus embroidery blocks as well!
The Silver Linings Sew Along will start in early May, and it will run through the end of July. It will be a really nice way to spend the spring and summer! And, I want this to be really fun and uplifting, so as I mentioned not only are the blocks super easy, but they have inspirational names like Always Look for the Silver Lining, Happy Days are here again, Looking Up, and Today I Choose Joy. We’ll even include some inspirational quotes for each block to help keep us in a positive state of mind.
You can use ANY fabrics you want! I found some really adorable fabric which is perfect for this, and it’s what I’ll be using in my project. Yess this sounds fun! I am joining in as I need the company of those who enjoy sewing as I do. Also I am just learning to quilt and very excited to Learn Everything! Thank You So Much for taking your time to offer this.
So glad to be starting this one
I have never been so eager to check my email to see what the block will be. It is like getting a Christmas present every Monday. Thank you for cheering our days!
I signed up for the newsletter a while back. I get the Silver Lining pieced blocks but not the embroidery blocks. I have checked my spam folder but they are not there either. I re-signed up for the newsletter today; will I be able to access the embroidery blocks? Thanks – loving the quilt blocks.

I loved block nine and especially the embroidery blocks. I was inspired to find other quilt blocks and embroidery designs to add so I could make a larger quilt. Thank you
Thank you so much for this sew along. Block 5…Don’t worry, be happy turned out to be my favorite block! I have loved each one and they have certainly helped with my skill set, but pinwheels have always been a problem and your pattern made it so easy that I was able to finish it without having to “unsew” one stitch! Love this club!!!
I loved block nine and especially the embroidery blocks. I was inspired to find other quilt blocks and embroidery designs to add so I could make a larger quilt. Thank you
I enjoyed the surprise of seeing each block as they were unveiled each week. Especially during this time of being without the fellowship of my quilt friends at my local quilt store. I also enjoyed the names you gave to each of the 12 blocks and the extra embroidery blocks which were so special with special uplifting messages each week. I guess my favorite block would be block 12 because of the theme and name you chose for the blocks. The Unity Star block which just affirms that no matter the geographic distances, cultural backgrounds or spiritual beliefs, that quilters share a unique unity when it comes to being connected in our global world. This year because of the virus has been an opportunity to celebrate our differences while being united in our common passion of quilting. Thank you for providing this experience and sharing between quilters during a unusual time in our world.
