UFO Challenge Winners!!!

Last month, I shared some UFO tips with you….

And then I announced my UFO Challenge! We got some great entries, and today I am announcing the winners!

The winners will each be receiving a free 2 month membership to The Art of Home Club. You may be asking, what is The Art of Home Club? It is a monthly membership where you get Club Exclusive patterns, video tutorials, printables and all kinds of fun stuff that you won’t find anywhere else! Cute stuff like this:

(By the way, those cute Buzz-y Bee pins can be found here.)

So, we had 3 categories. The first was small project, for projects which measure under 36″. Our winner was Monika, who made these adorable pillow cases. She used my pillow case pattern (download here), then designed the appliques herself! “As I live on a tiny, beautiful Island called Eleuthera (I’m from Governor’s Harbour) Bahamas I just changed the design of the appliqué to things from the sea as everyone here loves dolphins, turtles, seahorses and whales.”

Our second category was for large projects over 36″. I loved Tina’s story- it ONLY took her 42 years to finish her UFO! It is a queen sized quilt which she machine pieced and hand quilted. Look how she included the story of her quilt on the label on the back of the finished quilt:

Finally, we had a random category. Barbara said, “I purchased this quilt top on eBay several years ago. I believe that the original maker probably planned to embroider (redwork?) in the plain muslin circles. I loaded it onto my HandiQuilter and used computerized circular designs to mimic what she may have hand embroidered during the 1930’s or 1940’s when I believe this quilt top was made (looking at the fabrics in the top). I love honoring the original quilters by finishing these vintage treasures.” Don’t you love it when we can use our creativity to bring old treasures back to life again?

Thanks to everyone who entered, and congratulations to our winners!

Wonderful job done on that 1930/1940 quilt top. I would have been fearful the machine would tear the old top to shreds, because I had read that could happen and would be best to hand quilt them……but it looks like this person has done a great job.

All great projects. Loved the applique on the pillowcases. Would love the pattern for those. What a treasure to be able to finish a project someone else started.
