Here’s a little bit of what’s been going on, both in and out of the studio!
Seeing your project in a major magazine when you stop into your local Barnes & Noble never, ever gets old! It’s always fun :) Here is the latest issue of Quilts & More with my fall table runner project:
Both of our kids recently left the nest. They had both pretty much moved out (one got married 5 years ago, but lived 15 minutes away), and the other was at college but was home for weekends a lot. Well, in July, they BOTH moved far away! One 4 hours away for graduate school, and one 1000 miles away for a new job!!! So…. the nest has felt a lot emptier lately. My husband and I are trying to stay very busy so that we don’t miss them too much (that only works so well….) Some of the things we’ve been doing to stay busy:
We had our sweet little grandniece for a weekend. We loved having her- but boy, did she tire us out! We went to the zoo, went for a walk, and went to church. She is precious! Look at those little teeth coming in! And she’s taking her first steps. Such a lovely age!
We attended a “Plow to Platter” dinner featuring local produce and food, and benefiting missions in Belize. The setting was on a beautiful farm, and the food was delicious!
Trying new restaurants in nearby Philadelphia:
In the category of “mundane, but fun,” I cracked open an egg from the grocery store and got not a double, but a TRIPLE yolk! That has never happened to me before! I wonder if I should have bought a lottery ticket that day???
I’ve been working on some projects for The Art of Home Club:
And I’m also trying to stay caught up on my embroidery for the I Love Home Block of the Month:
How is your week going? Are you doing anything fun? Let us know in the comments!
I enjoyed working on the spring block, I’m almost finished
I’m new to using the pc, I use one finger
I’m attending Summer Rug Hooking School for the week and having a blast learning some new tricks.
My 12 year old great niece and I have some days together this summer this past Thursday being one of them. She and I are cutting pieces out for her very own quilt. She chose the fabrics and the pattern out of my stash. It will be an ongoing process since she’s not here that often, but she is enjoying the process so far. She loves to do sewing projects on the days she is with me, and is talking about having Aunt Sally Camp next summer. I’m stoked!! :)
I spent some time painting a dining suite. Cooked a beautiful meal for my parents and spent precious time with them. I love being out in the garden with my chickens and pottering with my herbs and flowers. Why is it the weekend goes so fast never enough time to do what you want. At night I love to sit relax and embroider or crochet and knit, I just can’t sit and watch tv I have to be using my hands with lovely projects.
